But since only one (non-accelerated) climb check was needed for the whole trip, the steep, greased slope could only have been about 15-feet long. ;)

I'm not responsible for the logic behind the rule shortcuts presented in the scenario... but I'm glad we didn't need to make dozens of Climb checks, too. :)

Viridian, you took no damage from the chute; that's the damage that was remaining from the Judge fight.

Viridian quickly shakes the blindness from his eyes. One additional save was all it took.

We've only got through Sunday, so I'm getting this going. Bella can channel during the round that Viridian cleared his blindness if you want to do that.

Bella offers a quick but powerful prayer to Desna, bringing her eyes to this battle.

Attack of Opportunity:

blue slam vs Viridian AC 24, earth mastery/prayer: 1d20 ⇒ 14 damage, prayer: 2d6 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 7 - 1 = 9

Viridian darts forward, catching a powerful blow to his shoulder as he moves. He uses Desna's influence to guide his blade into a crack in the elemental's rocky surface, chipping off a small chunk.

Gwen charges Hera with powerful electricity for the owl to use on her behalf. I should have included Hera in the bold block at the top of the next round; take two actions for her with your next post to catch her up.

Attack of Opportunity:

red slam vs Pau AC 18, earth mastery/prayer: 1d20 ⇒ 13 damage, prayer: 2d6 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 7 - 1 = 11

Pau also can't avoid the elemental's defensive strike as he moves, mirroring Viridian's movement perhaps too closely. But, he kicks off a nice sized chunk of his elemental's thigh.

Kaya sends a trio of magic missiles at Pau's elemental, sending a spray of rocky shrapnel flying from the perfect center of the elemental's chest.

Season of Ghosts

**HOUSE GM ANNOUNCEMENT**

Fighting furiously, your fellow contestants have opened a hole in the ranks of the elementals surrounding Sifu Xho Nuo!

A lone Pathfinder suddenly breaks through the gaping wall of elementals and runs towards the Emissary’s platform, leading the charge. It's Sulmoro of the Sovereign Court faction! Cheers erupt from fellow Pathfinders as they rally to keep the gap open whilst the brave and desperate lone figure races forward!

Sulmoro reaches to touch the platform, but as he does, the Emissary bursts into a maddening laugh, and with a wave of his hand, the platform erupts into a shower of smoke, sparks, and cherry blossoms. Before your eyes, three monks dressed in the robes of their sifu appear, standing in a circular formation atop the platform. With a calm grace, each one assumes a combat stance. Behind the wall of qinggong disciples, the Sifu again calmly seats himself. He closes his eyes, folds his legs, and sits in the lotus position, awaiting the victors.

Season of Ghosts

Specials run fast and some of the tables have moved faster than others, which unfortunately means that sometimes the action advances in the middle of a fight. And Lite-Brite will absolutely join you for this fight; they'll appear at the beginning of your turn.

As far as the ceiling height, hmm...we'll say 40 feet.

As the monks prepare to engage the gathered Pathfinders, the remaining elementals fade away, some with sighs of relief and others with rumbles and grumbles of disappointment. But you now have a new challenger, who chugs a potion and whose form begins to blur and flicker as they step forward atop the platform, ready to engage you...

Season of Ghosts

Sorry guys - Displacement is a booger! If it's any consolation, every other table sans Tier 1-2 (they get something a little lower-powered) is dealing with this as well.

Viridian aims a parting shot at the monk that he knows would have landed if it weren't for the dang dirty displacement! He charges after the retreating monk, determined to keep up the pressure, but still can't seem to hit this slippery, evasive foe!

Lite-Brite:
Lite-Brite has truespeech, so it understands Bella (and everything else, for that matter). It pulsates in greens and blues when speaking. Once summoned by Bella, she usually casts sanctuary upon it if possible. Lite-Brite will then fly around with its 60' perfect maneuverability and cast aid, at-will, on allies to grant 1d8+3 temporary hit points.
It can also shoot 2 light rays (+3 ranged touch, 1d6 damage, bypasses all DR) with a 30 foot range.
Aura of Menace (Su): A righteous aura surrounds archons that fight or get angry. Any hostile creature within a 20-foot radius of an archon must succeed on a Will save (DC 13) to resist its effects. The save DC varies with the type of archon, is Charisma-based, and includes a +2 racial bonus. Those who fail take a –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura. A creature that has resisted or broken the effect cannot be affected again by the same archon's aura for 24 hours.

Season of Ghosts

Pau springs into action, also charging the monk and attempting to kick him square in the face! But once again, the monk's displacement effect is enough to throw off Pau's aim and the kick misses.

About this time, Belladonna finishes her summoning and Lite-Brite joins the fray, zooming over to Pau to give him a little Aid for the battle as well as exposing the monk to its menacing aura.

GM Stuff:

Monk Will (DC 13): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

But the monk doesn't seem fazed by it. However he *DOES* seem fazed when Bella strides in and manages to dispel the displacement effect protecting him!

Though Hera's retaliatory swipe failed to strike the monk as he moved away earlier, she swoops in and tries again, finding much more success as she gives the monk a mighty zap!

Critical does not confirm, but Hera still hit!

Gwen is a bit confused by this whole thing but whatever, she's got a plan! She begins to power herself up...

"CRAP! They didn't get the message over all the noise in here. Now what am I gonna do?"

Suddenly out of the crowd of Pathfinders, Apollyanna appears. "GWEN! GWEN! I got another question!"

"WHAT!? Here? Now? Polly, I'm kinda busy right now. We're in the middle of a mosh-pit of ninjas and mercenaries."

"Really?" Polly looks around. She spots Pau in the melee calls to him and waves encouragingly. "So any ways we're fighting this shadowy alchemist woman and in the middle of dodging all of the vials of explosives she was chucking at us she just changed into this big buff monster with claws and fangs--"

"Whoo?" asks Hera politely over the frenzied sounds of desperate battle.

"This crazy fetchling alchemist woman. Anyhow and since you've seen more stuff outside of the Society's CORE studies curriculum I thought you-"

"POLLY!" snaps Gwendolyn. "I'm trying to concentrate. Ask your stupid stolen shield."

"It's not stolen. And Lai Ligau is a mask not a shield." whines the paladin, obviously hurt by the implication.

"Whoo?" asks the owl.

"Lai Ligau, she was some sort of smart-mouthed acrobatic cultural hero from Goka, in Tian Xa, who-"

"POLLY!" snaps Gwen again. "And you, stop encouraging her." she warns the owl on her shoulder.

"I said I'd return it the next time I visited Goka, those octopus-looking-thingies-on-a-stick™ were real good."

"Polly, really, I'm busy. Just hit her with your sword."

"Whoo?" asks the owl.

Gwen gives her familiar the look.

"Okay, I'm going." says the paladin still looking unsure of herself. "You gonna be late?" she asks over the mosh-pit of fists, swords, axes, arrows and less identifiable cultural weapons.

Gwen considers and dulls the edge in her voice. "No, I think we're almost done here. I'll probably have to give a report or something though. Maybe on the way back I'll hit the Foreign Quarter and pick up some of those Minkai raw fish rolls, we both like."

"Alright." says Apollyanna, happy again at the idea of the exotic meal. "See if they have any of those octopus-looking-thingies-on-a-stick™ too. I'll pay you back."

Gwen waves it off. "Don't worry about it."

With a new spring in her step, Apollyanna waves goodbye to Pau through the clash of arms, and heads out, smacking a ninja (or maybe it was a kung fu monk) down with the flat of her decorative mithril longsword as she goes, crying "VENUS CRASHER!!" as she strikes.
