Sieghart Aetheredge |
Umm... What? Okay, never mind. I understand now. Somewhere in there, the dice expression wasn't properly-closed. This should actually work.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Tyrant the Kobold |
Fort: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
"Bastards!" Tyrant shouts as he's hit by another dart. He'll grab one of the armoires blocking a door and angrily begin pushing it down the hallway in front of him, hoping to trigger the traps with that rather than his body.
Giridonyth |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
The woe of no trapfinder. Maybe I should've been a Burglar instead.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
"This isn't funny at all!" Giridonyth will take flight and start zipping down the hallways to get out faster and possibly avoid any floor based traps.
Guiscard du Montierre |
Guiscard takes a hopefully more sensible approach and tried to spot the trap triggers before proceeding.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
He doesn't spot them, so he instead lets everyone else trigger all of them first before following after.
Vinexa |
With the increase and screams and the impatients of at least some of the others to go do something about it Vinexa sighed. The comment from the draconic man about demons caused a frisson of concern to wash through Vinexa. She was about as close to being a demon as one could get without actually being one but there was little to be done for it.
As Aria yelled for the guests to stay in their rooms Vinexa saw Tyrant take off down the corridor and triggering traps galore Vinexa decided to follow him and carefully stepped only where he had so she wouldn't trigger any new traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

"Bastards!" Tyrant shouts as he's hit by another dart. He'll grab one of the armoires blocking a door and angrily begin pushing it down the hallway in front of him, hoping to trigger the traps with that rather than his body.
Tyrant can hear dozens of traps going off as he pushes the massive piece of furniture down the hall. Aria winces at the damage to the plush red rug and underlying hardwood floor.
Guiscard du Montierre |
"Apologies, Mistress Aria, but desperate times." Guiscard says, gingerly stepping down the hall after Tyrant.
"If it's any consolation, once we find the ne'er-do-well who did this, I plan to make sure you can take the damages out of his hide if need be."
Now that the hallway's clear, can we speed up the proceeding process a bit?
Tyrant the Kobold |
"Yes. A small price to pay," Tyrant agreed. He looked at the damaged armoire in front of him. "If you do not agree with my methods, you are welcome to go first. Like the dragon runt."
Tyrant will push the armoire as far as he can. If there are stairs Are we on the second floor? the kobold will push it down just in case.

Way is clear now (that Guiscard can see), at least in reference to the quill traps.
Sieghart Aetheredge |
With the hallway clear, Sieghart focuses for a moment, and is cloaked in a fiery blue aura. The small injuries inflicted by the quills immediately begin stitching themselves back together. Spending a use of Aurora. Just getting Fast Healing 2 for about twenty seconds.
"Now that that nuisance is over and done with, do we start on the downstairs, or do we find a window and see what this mess looks like from the outside? If we're under attack, I'd like to get to the stables and grab the weapon I left there."
Vinexa |
Seeing the way the armoir was roughly shoved aside Vinexa winced at the grating sound as it scraped across her ears. Fortunately it didn't last long and as Guiscard went downstairs Vinexa waited for Tyrant to proceed before following herself.
Tyrant the Kobold |
"If you want to jump out a window, go jump out a window. I'm going down with the scholar."
Tyrant will go down the stairs.

The vampire knight takes another swing at the door. 1d20+11 for 1d10+4
The umbragen drow busts down the door with another attack. Another spine-chilling scream rips through the night, louder now that the obstructing barrier between Mithuth and the interior of the manor has been removed.
Guiscard du Montierre |
Guiscard continues walking at a brisk pace, and starts questioning Aria.
"Mistress Aria, do you know who lives in that manor across the way? Unless my senses deceive me, that's where all this racket is coming from. The residents could be under attack. How quickly do you believe you could contact the local authorities for aid?"

Aria frowns, "That's the Metiever Manor -- they're a clan of Karrnathian merchants -- you can tell from all the gargoyle grotesques in the stonework and the blood red stained glass. Everyone assumes they have undead guardians and other magical defenses, so I wonder what could have so successfully breached their premises... Certainly, they're a logical enough object for some kind of burglary, but not one most vagabonds would consider an easy target. There are rumors they turned some previous thieves into undead guardians, in fact."
Guiscard du Montierre |
Guiscard frowns.
"Then perhaps it's a more...domestic dispute. In either case, no person makes such sounds unless they're in grievous danger. Whether the threat comes from without or within, someone there needs help."

Aria nods -- "I'd agree with that assessment, but neither myself nor any of my staff are capable of providing any meaningful assistance in a case where severe violence is possible, or even probable. I'd encourage you or any others who feel up to it and willing to investigate -- the Lanterns aren't very fond of the Metiviers, who they suspect of being Blood of Vol cultists, and they certainly won't be dispatching any guards to this district of the city in time to accomplish anything."
Tyrant the Kobold |
"If the source of the screams were across the street, what is the meaning of our hallway being trapped?" Tyrant huffed. His arms crossed and, now that he had some room, he stretched his wings. "I am in favor of going over there. Whatever it is, it will undoubtedly be a more satisfying challenge than well hidden quills poking at me."
After doing one last sweep for danger, Tyrant will head towards the exit closest to the manor next door.

Vinexa |
Vinexa shuddered at the thought of dealing with the undead. She didn't like dealing with them because, even though most of her abilities could function on them, they were largely disgusting and smelled really bad, though there was that one vampire....
Vinexa snapped out of her thoughts as the Tyrant headed to the house next door she said, "It was likely trapped so either we couldn't go help, or to keep us contained so they can come for us next." She began to follow Tyrant, stepping only where he did, so that he could take the brunt of any traps and she wouldn't have to.

Guiscard's frown deepens into a scowl. "Politics getting in the way of the guard doing their job? Even if decency wouldn't spur them, you'd think the chance of finding solid evidence of their being cultists would be enough to move them to action."
That said, he will shuffle out the door after Tyrant as fast as his tiny legs can carry him.
Sieghart Aetheredge |
"It's just as well." Sieghart says, following close behind. "It wouldn't be the first time a community has done away with members who've fallen out of favor by denying them the protection of the law." Once he had left the building, Sieghart briefly broke off in the direction of the stables to retrieve Fenrir.

Mihuth has no idea where the screams are coming from, and a small group has rushed out of an establishment on the other side of the street, and are headed quickly towards the manor house.
Mithuth |
The undead warrior strides through the manor, attempting to find the source of the screams. Let me know if I come across any symbols, objects, relics, etc of the Blood of Vol. Mithuth is follower of that religion. Even has ranks in Lore: Blood of Vol.
Guiscard du Montierre |
"Concerned citizenry, investigating for the wellbeing of the community. We came to investigate the source of the screaming from inside the manor, and what do we find but a shady figure tearing down their front door! No wonder those people are so terrified." Guiscard accuses.
"I don't know who you're working with, that laid traps in the inn, but I'm sure we'll find them soon as well. Stand down quietly and no further harm needs to be done."
Tyrant the Kobold |
"Enough talk. No one cares for the citizens or the community," Tyrant growls. He looks at Mithuth with indifference. "If you are not the cause of the terror then this conversation is pointless unless you want to keep us from getting to the next challenge. I am in a hurry."
Tyrant will stride past the others and deeper into the manor.
Guiscard du Montierre |
"So you think the screaming, which started before I even got here, is somehow my fault? You must not be very good at being a 'concerned citizen.' How many others have you falsely accused? Have they been wrongfully imprisoned?"
"Now listen here, boy, you have to be aware of what this looks like. Smashing down the door to a private residence while the occupants scream bloody murder? Especially for someone in such grisly attire. Do you truly expect me to believe there's nothing untoward going on?" he replies, though looks annoyed as Tyrant marches past.
"At least check on the family when you get in there, I'm sure they've had enough fright for one evening." he implores the oversized kobold.
Sieghart Aetheredge |
I'm going to assume Sieghart runs into no problems while grabbing his bike. If this is not the case, feel free to correct me.
Sieghart returns to the manor only as this exchange meets its end.
"Great. Someone opened the door for us." he says, gunblade over his shoulder and elemental weapon trailing behind him. "And of course there's something untoward going on. What do you think we're doing here? Plus, if this person is up to no good, there's no safer place for them than with us, right?"

Metivier Manor (no grid)
The small party of uncertain interlopers stands at the front door on the ground level. The hall before them is lit by chandeliers sculpted in gruesome shapes of leering abominations with contorted mouths frozen in unheard screams. The central hall is covered with a plush red carpet, perhaps velvet, whose borders are ornamented with elaborate golden filigree and tassels.
At the entrance, there is a closed door to the left, and a stairway leading down to the right below a high-pointed stone arch.
Tyrant the Kobold |
Tyrant scowls at the grotesque chandeliers. "What is the point of such decorations? I will never understand softskins and their strange taste in, what was it? Interior decoration, I believe a human called it?" Walking into the entrance hall, Tyrant listened to see if he could hear the screams or any sounds of activity.
