I just did a quick audit to make sure my sheet is right:

27765 gp total to sell (including the books)
Inventory Sheet

This left unsold:
3 cure minor potions
2 cure moderate potions

How are we splitting this?
4 players, but Eltran wasn't a part of anything until the last battle.

Pre Eltran: 25,036 (4 way: 6259, 3 way: 8345)
Bandit Battle (with Eltran): 2729 (4 way: 680)

For context:

Andwise current wealth/level
Tanssi: 1030 gp (items)
Andwise: 525 gp (items)
Andwise: 1443 gp (gems)

Total wealth = 2998 gp

Expected 4: 6000
Expected 5: 10,500

It doesn't make sense for Eltran to get anything besides the treasure from the bandits. But it would make sense for Ilvaria to have taken her share of the loot. She couldn't be around for the selling of items, but how about just deduct a little bit to take into account her portion. I'm fine with you picking an amount that you think is fair and reasonable.

If we call it 7500 each, that would have left 2536 for Ilvaria. If everyone is good with that, then it would break down as the following:

Andwise, Falcon, Suizal = 8180
Ilvaria = 2536
Eltran = 680

I am going to go ahead and add that sum to my character, and I can adapt later.

Purchases: +1 amulet of mighty fists, +2 belt of strength = 8,000
I am still thinking about some other consumable purchases

I also would like to take some time in the city to retrain my skill point in disable device to perception

Attempts to make the sellers friendly and reduce the price (can RP it in the main thread if you would prefer GM):
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Yeah, retraining disable device is a great idea, since you now have access to a rogue.

One side thing to consider is that Maffei does have some permanent negative levels. This is one of your chances to "upgrade" her by springing for a restoration spell to remove one of those negative levels. She starts off pretty strong but she won't otherwise advance in level during the module.

7 Cleric, 4 spell x 10 = 280 gp + 1000 gp diamond dust = 1280 gp total.

If we took that out of the pre-entrance fund, that leaves:

Restoration= 1028
Ilvaria = 2536
Eltran = 680

So we can go shopping with it or?

Yeah, you can spend that 7,757 for sure. But that's not including the 11,000 gp for the big book; if you'd choose to sell it.

I have no problem choosing to sell it.

That would bring us an additional 3,666 each (of the original 3), we could round down to account for a split with Ilvaria (call it 3k, with ~2k going to her).

The +2 on a weapon would be 8,000 gp. Its not a bad buy normally...but just as a heads up, it might not be ideal to spend most of your money on upgrading your weapon (cough, cough, hint, hint).

There's always the big Six (or is it Seven) items. The belt, the headband, the cloak (although he already has that biting cloak), ring of protection, amulet of natural armor, armor enhancements.

Ther hosteling enchantment is pretty nice if you want to start bringing your horse into combat more often. I kind of forgot that Sir Falcon has a mount. Then there is also the Champion's Banner, which increases the level of challenge by four for 8,000 gp.

Of course, its always worth getting a few consumable items. Potions of fly, protection from evil, invisibility, etc.

Does the 7,757 gp include the gold she had on her CS?

I think that's the cut from selling the bandits' equipment and Hunclays books.

7757 + 3000 = 10757 total from all of the things that we sold (including the 11,000 gp book)

Add an armor upgrade (+1) and a cloak of resistance +1 then!

Sorry, I've had a couple of rough weeks, with last week being especially bad. It does look like Eltran and Sir Falcon need to be botted, so I will do that so we can move along.

I did want to ask; this module has been running awhile and we've lost people along the way. I definitely feel like I might have bitten off more that I should have, or in retrospect I might have tried to speed through parts of this a bit faster.

I know its been slowing down a bit and I wanted to bring it up to a vote. We are near the end and I think you guys have done enough for me to issue all the chronicle sheets for it. If we want to call it, we can go that route. But we are nearing the end, so I would also be happy to finish it out. Let me know what people think!

I don't mind finishing- but the slower pace makes it hard for me to remember to come back to the game. I am fine with the will of the group- and don't feel personal need/obligation to finish if other people would like to take the chronicle option.

I hate ending a game without actually reaching the end.... But I also don't see a valid way to replace the people that we've lost. Can we finish the battle and then decide? The dice may decide to kill us all! Or Sir Falcon could get a confirmed crit and destroy the ghost!!!

Yeah, the slow pace is definitely not intended. I could speed things up by botting people sooner. I do hate botting people but I would like to also get to the fight with a freaking dragon!!! I mean, cmon, it's a dragon!

A dragon? No! Is there a dungeon too? Seriously!?! I mean, this game used to be Dungeons and Dragons, right.... ;-P

The faster botting isn't your fault at all... I don't remember the last time Sir Falcon posted. You can always bot everyone.

Everyone can also increase their level to 5 as well.

Sir Falcon does have a flaming katana. The nice thing about the Wyrmsmite is that it can be transformed into any Medium sized one handed melee weapon or a Small sized two-handed weapon. That means that Andwise or Irlana could use it as a long spear!

Unfortunately, I think Sir Falcon is the only one who can use the bow (a keen bow! And I believe that's on the chronicle sheet); but I think Eltran could fire them from a short bow.

The jewelry can be used to buy other items in town. Lady Tula will give you ring once she sees it; Luckily no one got hit by the wights or the wraith; nobody in town is powerful enough to cast restoration but the temple has one scroll of the spell.

I leveled Andwise, but need to update the account later.

Tanssi picked up the wings evolution (yay fly speeds). Andwise will plan on grabbing a handful of scrolls to make the most of mnemonic vestments, though Eltran could also use that (and have more spell slots and spell levels).

It seems like dragon bane *might* end up being important- so I would prefer that weapon go to Marrei or another combat oriented character.

We could look to sell everything else and then upgrade/purchase anything else that might be an upgrade or a consumable

Level 5? I'll work on it, maybe over the weekend though. As for the treasure items then:

Not about dividing stuff "fairly". This is about making the party as strong as possible for facing the dragon and its minions.... Do we have time to go somewhere, sell anything and possibly buy anything else useful? The town won't have much....

If the party tries to leave town; they will face resistance from the fire drakes and bat monsters patrolling the skies. If they do break through the barricade, the nearest large cities are at least 3-4 days away. I think you've spent a few days already so it would not give the party a lot of time to finish things up before the dragon's stated deadline. The scenario definitely intends for the party to be stuck in Benhaim.

Maffei won't take the arrows or the armor. She has her shadow evocation magic when she needs to attack something at a distance. She is a rogue, so medium armor would weigh her down. It's up to you to decide if you trust this NPC rogue to give back the 28,000 gp magic sword at the end of the adventure, but she will take it if you give it to her. I'd recommend against giving the defensive items to her because I think it's more acceptable if she dies and she already has pretty good defenses.

The ring of force acts like a heavy shield made of force; meaning it requires a free hand to use and benefits from proficiencies like Shield Focus. But it doesn't have an Arcane spell failure chance or an armor penalty so it can be used safely by any class. It can be turned on and off with a free action; but it would still be useless to Maffei.

OK. So the +3 Breastplate of Luck to Irlana. The amulet of natural armor and ring of acid resistance to Sir Falcon.
3 dragonbane arrows to Sir Falcon and 7 to Eltran.

+1 glamered full plate and the ring of force shield to Sir Falcon. He'll be well protected but can't use his challenge.

I don't know what to say about Wyrmsmite. Irlana was never intended to be a front-liner, always more of a support character.

Andwise? Maybe you could take Wyrmsmite as a longspear and ride Tansi? And use the ring of force for better AC for you? If not and I take it I'll probably need a crit to have any chance of hitting....

Other question. Would you like one of us to bot Sir Falcon? I could do it if you want. I'll just create an NPC Alias and copy his CS there for it.

Andwise could take the spear, if thats the best option. It wont be pretty... but he does have a flying mount now!

I would love it if someone could bot Sir Falcon and/or Maffei. Being able to cast shadow evocation at will gives her a lot of fun options in combat. Between the two of them, though, I'd prefer having Sir Falcon botted. And hopefully he does come back.

I suggested the longspear, because I have seen summoners use them to great effect. Even with a low STR, the combination of providing a flanking bonus and a +2 from aid other can be pretty effective. And with inspire courage, haste, bless, etc. your accuracy and damage might be better than you'd think.

For that ring of force; you can turn it off on your turn to attack with a two handed weapon; then release your hand and turn the ring back on to get the AC bonus. This is a little cheesy, and you won't be able to make AoO's with two handed weapon if you do this; but I will allow it. Also, correct me if I'm wrong; but I believe eidolons can use magic rings as well.

Andwise can take the weapon and the ring then.

I'll make an NPC Sir Falcon over the weekend. We should be able to continue shortly....

Sir Falcon von Raptor needs to have a banner for the ability gained at 5th level.... He has needle, thread, twine. Can he craft something that will work on the road to the monastery? Or hand-wave that he knew he would need it and purchased one before we left town?

The effect of the banner is +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear and a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls made as part of a charge.

We could each bot one, GM. I am happy to take Maffei!

I think I created her correctly- but let me know if I am missing anything

Is there anything else that makes her special/different? Has she leveled?

Her stats from the slides should be correct; and adjusted according to the current negative levels that she has.

She does not gain levels during this module; but she can be "upgraded" by removing the three negative levels she starts with. I know you guys already paid for a restoration spell to remove one of those negative levels. The party was supposed to have been given three scrolls of restoration by the church after they volunteered to slay the dragon, but I don't remember if I gave those to you or not. If I did then you've held onto them; which was a good idea since that last fight was against undead creatures who have energy drain and ability drain!

Luckily nothing even managed to touch anyone in that fight, so you didn't need to use them on yourselves. You could use two of those scrolls to remove her remaining negative levels and still have one left over. That would not just increase her attack and skill rolls but also increase the effective caster level of her spell like ability.

She is effectively level six once all the negative levels are removed; and the PCs can still go up one more level before the end of this, so Maffei potentially ends up at the same level as the party. 4 of her HD are monster HD, but considering how powerful her innate abilities are I think its a fair trade for the lack of class levels.

Definitely worthy of using the scrolls!

Eltran hasn't posted since December, so I am removing him from the initiative as well. You guys should have the skills and equipment needed to face the rest of the encounters! If he does post again, I'm happy to add him back in.
