Dhajan opens the secret door, and sees the door that his phantom mentioned just to the south. In the other direction, the corridor turns to the west.

Onye wonders if it is best to search the secret area or press on down the outer corridor.

Rule of 3 will apply - if three of you agree on a course of action then that's what will happen. If you are split down the middle, the first option to have received two votes will be used. (DFM does not get a vote ;) )

Deciding to make certain that the secret area holds no enemies that might ambush you, you follow Djahan into the hidden passage. With the door to the south being the most immediate concern, Djahan sends his phantom to investigate - and receives an immediate sensation of danger!

Djahan:

As before, when the phantom encounters hostiles we'll have a surprise round - the phantom, Djahan and the hostiles get actions.

Following your noses, you approach a chamber. The acrid stench of chemicals and reagents is strong, and the walls are marred by strange stains and scorch marks. Several tables are scattered about the room, covered in a bewildering plethora of glassware, alembics, retorts, tubes, simmering cauldrons, and smoking beakers full of brightly coloured liquids. Scattered pages of written notes in a crabbed hand lie strewn about the chamber. A large alcove in the northwest corner contains a bookshelf groaning under the weight of heavy, dusty tomes and scrolls. Three large glass vats stand against the eastern wall, filled with bubbling green fluid. Floating within the vats are three grotesque objects—putrescent corpses, tubes and wires embedded in their rotting flesh, their skin discoloured with decay and chemical stains.

A hunchbacked, haggard-looking man looks up from his books. He grasps a spear and says in a high-pitched reedy voice "Mr Marrow, my work is being interrupted! Show these unwanted guests the exit!"

"Tee-hee-hee-ha! Fools! I heard you coming!" The hunchback giggles. "Now rise, my minions, rise!" He gestures wildly, and one of the glass vats shatters as its occupant emerges.

The hunchback hurls a flask...

...straight through the phantom, to strike Data. A blast of cold injures the android and washes over DFM and Onye.

Data attempt a DC13 Fort save; if you fail you are Staggered for 1 round.

Phantom and Onye both get a DC13 Reflex save; Phantom takes 1 cold damage on a fail, 1 non-lethal on a success; Onye takes 3 cold damage on a fail, 1 cold damage on a success.

The creature from the vat staggers forwards and swipes at the phantom uselessly.
