Noroc sees an opening. Just as Peldur's blow spins the creature a bit, Noroc brings the chopper down and severs its head! The creature collapses.

A moment later the beam shuts off, and only a faint light can be seen from the Gauntlight. The onlookers and guards alike give a massive cheer at the party's victory, though none step foot in the cemetery to offer congratulations.

For destroying the undead, and the strange abomination, each hero earns 200 XP. Additionally, Noroc and Peldur each receive 1 hero point each for the back to back natural 20s that prevented an AWFUL round.

Besides, I'm of the mind these things are sometimes best left to grow organically. Perhaps we come up with a clever name, or perhaps someone else does and we adopt it. Maybe we should ask Wrin, when next we see her.

Elena and Noroc both bring some light to the darkened Gauntlight. At night the place is especially creepy, and the week light atop the tower doesn't help.

Thankfully it's a short trip to the tower proper, so the party hustles in. Bibi opens the door and steps aside. The pool of everfresh blood is still there, roiling.

It's bubbling.

It's moving.

A translucent, bloody image of a woman arises from the pool of blood. She looks familiar to you. Her eyes emit a soul draining light. She opens her mouth as if to scream, but then begins a sharp inhale.

You feel the pressure first in your eyes and ears. It grows into pain. Your faces feel wet. Your mouths taste like copper. The first you see of it is the blood which comes from your tear ducts. You look around at the others, the ghostly Lady of the Light is inhaling your very blood!

The horror of the vision is completely awful, nearly felling the party outright. Peldur flies into the room and executes a perfectly placed sweeping kick at the pool. Immediately the ghostly haunt is completely disrupted.

The woman bursts into a fountain of blood and flies up to the ceiling, oozing into the lighthouse proper above!

For quickness in action, each hero earns 60 XP. Peldur also gets a hero point for his well timed maneuver.

Some of the party races to the top. Talborel bursts through the trap door into the room. The blood has slithered and flowed over Gauntlight’s lantern. As the heroes enter the chamber, it slides off the lantern and transforms into a ravenous blood-drinking vampiric mist which attacks at once! The cloud of crimson vapor reeking of fresh blood hangs in the air, reaching out with lashing claws.

after watching the video on sneak & perception, I recognize that I'm going to be fully visible here as there is nothing to hide behind at the end of my movement. I'm just...flitting there, not really skulking. Hence no Sneak action performed either! :-) Just to be clear, so you know that I know Bibi will be "Observed" Unless Bibi DOES see something she coudl hide behind, then Sneak is definitely what I'd do. Bibi can use the diachinis in the room to start off hidden

Carrufikus closes in and levels a spell at the mist. The impact doesn't seem to affect it at all! Not undead.

The mist flies forward, standing directly before Peldur. It lashes out with tendrils, one towards Peldur, the other towards Talborel. The tendrils not only slash open wounds, they practically draw blood out of the wounds.

V. Peldur: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 for Slashing: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 5 And a FORT save
V. Talborel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 MISS

Talborel focuses on the mist. He knows this to be a vampiric mist, sometimes called "Agents of Empty Death" in places where worship of the Outer God Nhimbaloth has brushed close to the world. He knows that they're an aberration, resistant to physical weapons, but weak to fire.

The creature drains Peldur of his life force. the mist seems to grow strong, more opaque, with the collection of the brawler's blood. Drained 1. Also, I am mistaken. In 2e you don't take the persistent bleed damage until the end of your turn, so you lose the 5 Bleed from the hit after your turn.

Having no fire to bring to bear on the mist, Peldur falls back on the tried and true punching the hell out of it.

He crouches down and rakes at hit.

PEldur's opening blow is off target, but he follows up with a hit. It's a wierd sensation. The mist isn't completely without substance, and his fist slows as it passes through. The hit nearly returns the mist to the state it was in before harming Peldur.
