Naw... its my fault, I should have checked better. Plus, it is probably better to have 2 sources of light going.

All good.

I guess, in a pinch, I could use a boon from a chronicle to cast stone shape, and make a bridge...
But its hard to tell if it would be enough to reach anywhere... and even then, one plinth at most.
Don't suppose there's a map of this room?

Is it possible to switch out a memorized spell to memorize something else? Or it has to be left empty for that?
A hide from animals would be awesome right about now 8P

No map provided in the scenario. The islands are 28 feet apart exactly.

Yeah, has to be left empty and unused.

You could buy this if you can buy a swan boat token. You just would need several of these scrolls since they would need to be purchased at minimum caster level (1) in accordance with pfs rules.

We have completed this entire area, and will not be moving on to a new area until the house says so.

We can attempt an optional encounter in the meantime, earning the House another success point, or wait. This is an all-in-one-day special so you probably want to consider that before opting in on optional encounters. Not that you've had to expend many resources so far.

We will be moving on to the next Area on the evening of the 6th or the morning of the 7th.

In the meantime, you can also decide where to go after the next areas open up. Above you are the Slave Pits, and the Temple Plaza is up top. It seems like the party might be split on where to go.

Playing at a virtual con today so I may not be able to update during the afternoon. The house is probably moving on tonight or tomorrow, so I will be calling this encounter if that happens beforehand.

Group is still split so I am going to make a compromise here that I believe will be most fun for the group, contextualized by my knowledge of the schedule and encounters.

Schedule-wise (which you do not know necessarily in character, but won't hurt to know out-of-character), the Plaza will be controlled (unplayable) by the 9th, whereas the pens will be controlled on the 15th. There is no tactical value to going to either in any particular order.

So, let’s do one encounter up at the temple plaza and then go down to the pens. That way everyone has a chance to do what their character wants. I also think an extra research encounter is more interesting than another easy combat encounter, and I suspect this group agrees.

We will then move down to the Slave Pens by the 9th, which has two encounters (combat and social).

Yeah, GM oversight on Wall of fire. We can just roll with the 20%, it's fine. I'm not too concerned about it being such a game-changer we need to retcon anything.

Apologies for the poor tracking on this one, all. It’s been a distracting couple days with IRL stuff and I’ve been rushing things here a bit.

We’re doing fantastic on time so I may slow our roll a bit here as well.

Hey no worries on the tracking. These are trying times and nothing is as easy as it used to be. And even worse if you are in an area dealing with hurricane damage or wild fires. Just stay safe :)

We just had plans change on a trip and I will likely be unable to post tomorrow due to no internet access.

I’ve requested a backup GM step in for you to run the combat while I’m gone tomorrow.

I will be available until this afternoon and back on Wednesday afternoon (Were Coast time), but probaly posting towards the evening.

We're going to be fine on time, and have 3-4 days to finish this combat and an optional research encounter before moving on.

Thanks!,

Doug

If I understand correctly, that would either cost a move action or burn and this being a very long special burn can better be saved for an actual challenge. (I think Fung's primarily used burn in earlier encounters to get Elemental Overflow online)

re: missing out damage: just want to put it out there that this group has had a very easy time so far and if we don’t do the most optimal thing from time to time — especially for the sake of helping one another out in a bottling situation — that’s ok.

Generally, if an important moment arrives and you can squeeze a bit more out based on another player’s expertise, I am cool retconning that in. But that important moment isn’t today.

We're on track to finish this research scene up today or tomorrow. The overseer is scheduled to move us on the next area tomorrow, so we are still doing awesome on time.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

We will now hold until the overseer moves us on. I don't think a single day is enough time to get through another encounter in PbP.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

We've all gotten a bit sloppy (myself included) about mixing OOC rules discussion with in-game action.

I generally prefer to try and keep the gameplay thread lean and narrative, with rules corrections / discussion kept in the discussion tab.

There are no optional encounters in this Area (and all the rest are clear), so we have a day or two to kick back with the general and eat some Ittho bread before the next section.

The Overseer will be moving us on Sunday evening (around midnight UTC is my guess).

If you aren't interested in chatting with the general, make sure you're at least checking in once a day to ensure we're keeping pace with the House.

Xuan Fung wrote:
Would regaining daily use of power apply to burn? And if so, since he can activate burn 10 times a day, could he regain 4 in total if he selects that option twice?

As far as I understand it, Burn is not a daily-use class feature, rather it is capped by other factors like hp and con (nor does it reset daily, it’s healed). So it would not seem to fit the recharge criteria of “daily use ability.“

However this scenario was written before occult adventures, and I think the intention is that PCs get to recharge some key abilities. I think it would be fair to take that into consideration and say Fung gets 2 back total.

Great, thanks I’m fine with that!

Just want to point out though that burn can’t be healed and only resets upon resting. “ For each point of burn she accepts, a kineticist takes 1 point of nonlethal damage per character level. This damage can’t be healed by any means other than getting a full night’s rest, which removes all burn and associated nonlethal damage.” Also, burn is only capped by Con (3 + Con specifically).

Doesn't brewing a mutagen take an hour? That would take too long.

Your mutagen should last 70 minutes and you drank one about 30 minutes into the adventure, so you should have plenty of time left anyway.

If you have some sort of ability or item that lets you refresh, that's totally fine. But by my count Roderick has more than enough time left on the first dose.
