Guido "Guy" Falkes |
Hearing there is someone invisible around the corner, Guy moves up to where he can see the enemy agents and glitter bombs the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 If he actually detects the invisible person, there may be a redirect otherwise it is the blue circle on the map
Glitterdust, DC 15 Will or blinded — mostly using it to reveal invisible
Since Silence is a full round action, he should also be able to see who is casting it on what object.
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Are the yellow dashed circles Silence?
Silence?! Rats! Looks like I'll be using my ray today. She holds her ground, like Bocke and Bask.
GM Badblood |
High hits on miss chances. And the yellow circles are the Aspis's lights.
Toral's spiritual weapon slashes at the invisible foe and draws blood. The unseen caster's spell fails as they lose their concentration.
Concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Guy moves in and fills the hall way with glittering dust.

Botting Sinaryn
Sinaryn advances a few steps forward to stand in the hallway and readies her pistol to shoot anybody who steps into sight. She knows it's a tough shot with the distance and her allies in the way, but she also does not want to move in front of them and put herself at risk.
Readied Shot, Bless, PBS: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 11
B/P, magic, shocking, PBS: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 + 1 + (5) = 16
A figure outlined in faint golden particles emerges from the hallway and lunges at Guy. Sinaryn and Bocke fire their shots but both miss. Bask and Salim dart forward to get closer to the fight. Its a blind lunge, but the attack strikes the kitsune in the shoulder. As the spear drives into Guy the illusion drops. The attack is a man dressed in the garb of a nobleman but his teeth are filed into points and his face is covered in sinister looking tattoos, making him appear like a demon straight from the Abyss. He twists the blade before leaping backwards, landing behind his henchmen.
Spear: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 2 = 22
Magic, Piercing: 1d8 + 7 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (5, 6) = 19
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 92
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Note that he moved 30 feet despite being blinded and that he moved attacked, and moved again. And also Zaril passes his Will save at the end of the round.
The male Aspis agent moves forward, dropping his crossbow to the ground and drawing a pair of axes. He moves in and slices Guy, who easily ducks under the clumsy attack.
Handaxe: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 2 = 9
Slashing: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
The female agent stays back, fishing out a potion from her pouch and drinking it. She tries to take a step back, but her leader pushes her forward again, snarling "You're not running away. Get out your axes." She complies, dropping her crossbow and drawing a pair of razor sharp axes.
healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Will: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Just a note here. The agents came into the fight injured and shaken. I've been tracking it on my own, but now I'm just adding the effects in.
The fearsome leader of the Apsis Consortium's expedition has been revealed and has shown himself to be a capable fighter. The party is now engaged in hand to hand combat in the narrow hallways of Ashkurhal.

Do I get an Attack of Opportunity on the leader with him moving in and back out like that? I am Kitsune, so the bite threatens.
I am guessing not, sounds like he used Spring Attack along with some other special allowing him to move that much. Still want to check.
Am I understanding things correctly that none of them are blinded any more?
GM Badblood |
He's wielding a long spear and has Spring Attack. And yes, the two that were blinded passed the Will Save they get at the end of their turns. They are still covered in glitter for the rest of the spell duration though.
Bocke Reed |
Bocke is feeling a little lonely, but wouldn't be any more efftive if closer. He steps forward and tries to loft a few arrows over Guy's head.
Longbow, DF, IC, bless, RS, PS: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 0 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 0 = 21 vs cover

"It's a high time to fight

Guy starts back up his song and moves past the Aspis agent and out of the way.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO, Heroism: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 2 = 20
GM Badblood |
Bocke fires two arrows over the heads of his allies. One arrow grazes the ranger's head and takes part of his ear. The second arrow lands high in his shoulder and penetrates his reinforced leather jerkin. He is severely wounded but still standing.
Guy tries to slide under the warrior's legs, but he is a little slower than he would like and sees an axe flying towards his head as the warrior tries to decapitate the bard. There is a shock of pain as the blade glances off his skull and Guy finds himself unable to move past the brawny warrior.
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Slashing: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Failing the check provokes an attack of opportunity and causes Guy to lose the move action.

Toral let’s the shortsword of force attack the Aspis in front of Guy!!
In case he is down, Toral moves forward. I put his icon on the position he would move to.
Sinaryn |
"Now boys, I am a crack shot but if I am trying to weave a bullet between you...lets just say I like you too much to nick ya and its throwing off my aim." Sinaryn frets as she tries to makes a shot before moving around through the hallways.
Pistol vs. Touch: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 + 2 - 4 = 10 Enemies definitely have at least soft cover to that shot.
Damage (P+1d6 Electricity): 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 + (5) = 15
She curses as her shot isn't nearly as nice as she wants.
"Bask and Salim, do come with me. I don't want to get too close to those smelly bastards." she says beckoning them around for what she hopes to be a flank.
Arcane Pool 3 Rounds/Shock 4 Rounds.
GM Badblood |
Toral's magic sword zips from the Aspis leader and flies into the axe man's back, impaling him. The man drops his axes and leans against the wall, sliding down into a seated position. Zaril shouts out, "If you die on me, I will eat your heart!"

Bask watchs Sinaryn go down the passageway, but doesn't follow.
"I can't leave Toral alone in there!"
He moves in, then calls out for Salim to attack, waiting until he does so to active the Final Warning. Salim moves in, and when he does so Bask graps the amulet and concentrates, and himself, Salim, Toral and Guy glow with a pale flame.
Move in for Bask, then ready a move action to use the final warning until Salim is in position. Salim then moves in, and Bask activates it, using all 3 charges
As a move action, you can spend one charge to cause your body and equipment to ignite with soft golden flames for 3 rounds, during which time you shed light as a 2nd level spell and deal 1d6 fire damage to any creature that strikes you with its body or handheld weapon (but not reach weapons); this damage ignores the resistance of qlippoth and worshipers of Rovagug. You may spend an additional 2 charges to grant all allies within 30 feet these two benefits for 3 rounds
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Realizing that the battle is unlikely to reach her unless all her comrades fall, Laafdahni dashes out to follow Sinaryn.
Double move.
GM Badblood |
Zaril jumps back and stabs at Toral. "Die dwarf!" Perhaps he still had a little glitterdust in his eyes though, as the thrust is far above the dwarf's head. Then in a blink of an eye, the spearman retreats further in the hallway. He is still visible, as the light sheds an additional 20 feet of dim-light past the lit area.

Now alone but too afraid to run away, the woman swings both her axes at Toral, but despite the twirling of her axes she fails to land a decisive blow. The woman re-positions herself, putting some ground between the approaching Pathfinders.
[ooc]Am I reading Final Warning correctly in that it only causes damage if the attack lands?

Toral let’s the shortsword of force attack the female Aspis now!!
He then 5 ft steps back and casts a color spray spell on her!
Only her in the area of effect. DC 17 Will save color spray.
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Dashing around one corner, Laafdahni comes to a stop at the edge of the next. Peeking around, she sees a female Aspis agent facing down Salim. Throwing out her hand, she sends a bolt of freezing energy at the Aspis's back.
Cold Ray: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Toral's spiritual weapon slashes the ranger, then a spray of color blinds her and leaves her stuttering and flailing about as she drops the weapons in her hands and sputters incoherently. Laafdahni fires a blast of cold that strikes the statue of the crying dwarf, leaving a layer of rime on its surface as its tears freeze. Guy tries to rally his allies while stepping out of the fight to heal himself and Bocke and Sinaryn jog towards the group as they try to get closer to the action.

Bask races after the speedy spearman.
"Stop!"
As he moves he calls out to Salim to "Flank!"
double move for both, both have I believe enough movement to attempt to avoid an AoO from the longspear (assuming he is not threatening adjacent, if so Salim will provoke)

Salim bounds down the coridoor to block the way of their enemy
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
GM Badblood |
Bask and Salim rush the Aspis leader, attempting to spring into the reach of his spear. Salim jumps up at just the right moment and for a brief fraction of a second is running the shaft of Zaril's spear. Unfortunately Bask is not fast enough and the blade of the pike slices into his thigh as he moves in.
Attack of Opportunity, power attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 2 = 24
Piercing: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Zaril then springs into action, using his spear to pole vault away from the hunter and his cat, running towards the statue of the weeping dwarf. He winks at Laafdahni before expertly skewering her on his pike then turning on his heels and moving down the dimly lit narrower hallway south of the dwarf.
Spear, power attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 - 2 = 26
Piercing: 1d8 + 11 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 11 + (6, 4) = 24
Bask and Salim both get a chance to take a swing at the speedy serpent before he moves, but it is unlikely not enough to stop him from fatally wounding Laafdahni, who is now lying on the ground fighting for her life.

I've optimistically placed him on the other side, but if that's not enough I think he'll provoke and end up behind Bask. If only he was smart enough to go the other way round
GM Badblood |
Zaril is using a reach weapon, so he isn't subject to the fire damage.
Salim snaps at air as the spearman deftly moves out of the way, but can't avoid a strike from the flat side of Bask's scimitar.
Bocke, Guido and Sinaryn move into position while Laafdahni struggles to stay alive. Toral tries to finish off the stunned Serpent, slashing her with his spiritual blade and firing a crossbow bolt into her chest. The agent stumbles and cries out in pain, but still remains standing. Toral notices that the light being shed in this hallway is coming from a cocked and loaded heavy crossbow lying on the ground only a few feet from his feet. It looks like someone had cast a light spell on the quarrel.
Bask rolls underneath the reach of Zaril's heavy pike, but the Aspis leader is ready for Salim's leap and has his spear ready. Luckily Zaril slips on a bit of rubble and loses his footing, leaving Salim uninjured.

Toral let’s the shortsword of force attack the female Aspis again!!
In case she is still standing he’ll reload the crossbow. Otherwise he’ll move forward.
Bask Rahid |
Ah right. That would have been the first time the final warning did anything too! Bask and Salim would delay until after Sinaryn to give her a clear shot (in case Salim makes the acrobatics)
Bask grunts out some words as he fights. He visibly seems to master his rage and allow the familiar forms of Sarenrae's divine fighting technique to calm him.
"It's not too late - surrender and I guarantee your safety"
as he's speaking he steps up and strikes, using Sarenrae's techniques to deal non-lethal damage in contrast to his opponent.

Laafdahni Riverrun |
After being tapped by two healing wands, Laafdahni gasps and bolts into a sitting position and glances around for danger. "Oh! Ahhh! <gasp! gasp!> Thanks, guys! Are they gone?" She pops the Wand of Infernal Healing out of its sheath and hits herself with it before standing and offering it to Guy, who looks a little worse for the wear. "Want some Infernal Healing?"
Guido "Guy" Falkes |
“Never!” is Guy’s immediate response.
It is quite clear that he wants nothing to do with that spell.
GM Badblood |
Bocke and Guy rush to heal Laafdahni. She offers to heal Guy, but the kitsune recoils in horror when he sees the diabolical material that her wand is carved from. Toral sends his spiritual sword to stab the Aspsis agent again. Amazingly she is still standing after yet another wound.
Bask moves in and slashes low, slicing into Zaril's knee caps. Even a hardened killer like this man can't help but cry out in pain but is amazingly still standing. Salim attempts to move in, but the man blocks him and slices at the cat with his machete, but the blade fails to get a solid enough hit to cut through his thick fur.
Kukri: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 2 = 14
[dice=Slashing]1d4+3+4[/dice
Sinaryn moves into the corridor and fires her pistol at the Aspis agent. The bullet strikes him in the elbow and and arc of electricity courses through his arm. The man convulses then falls to the ground unconscious.
The other agent is still up with exactly 1 hp, so the fight is over!
Guido "Guy" Falkes |
With Laafdahni conscious, Guy rushes to find out how Bask is doing. He is greatly relieved to see it is the Aspis agent on the ground.
“Good work, sorry I wasn’t more help.”
Looking around, he asks “Do you think there are any more of them coming?”
GM Badblood |
There are some screams in the distance as the Golden Guardian chases down the few remaining Aspis agents. Several wounded kobolds stumble towards the group, covering their eyes as they approach the blazing aura of bright light emitting from Toral's clothes.
One of the kobolds chatters excitedly in high pitched Draconic.
Toral Kargar |
Toral nods at the others and claps Guy on the shoulder.
“I heard every word of yours over and over in my mind and it really inspired me! So thanks to you!!!“
He looks at the Kobolds and bows.
“I think that it is time to learn everything we can from the golden guardian, verify that the VC beyond help and then ... go, right?!“
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Laafdahni shrugs at Guy's response to her wand. Healing is healing to her, and it's not as if she's agreed to any contract by using it. When the kobolds stagger back, she offers it to them, but her words need to be translated for those who don't understand Common.
I assume the Comprehend Languages spell cast on her when we first entered the large cavern with the Golden Guardian has worn off by now. (10 minutes)
Bask Rahid |
Bask kicksZaril's weapons away from him and ties him up.
"Good Shot Sin!"
To Guy he says "Nonsense, it was your magic and your song that guided all our weapons, and Laafdahni survived as well thanks to you. Are you OK? You took a nasty hit. As for others, I don't know. I suggest we restrain this lot and then talk to them, perhaps separately; this one seemed to be threatening the others, maybe he was coercing them"
GM Badblood |
You can do what you want with the prisoners. Keep in mind that the biggest settlement in this area is Fort Bantu, which is only a couple hundred people. Your final destination is Nantambu, which is several weeks away and doesn't have a formal Pathfinder lodge.
The party captures the Aspis expedition leader and one of the remaining scouts. The rest of them are dead or fled from the ruins back into the jungle. Eventually more kobolds come down into the ruins, having returned after hearing that the Golden Guardian has reawakened. With the aid of the Golden Guardian and dozens of kobolds, the Pathfinders clear the rubble out of the tunnel. Eventually they find the mangled body of a male human, identifiable only by the crushed wayfinder that's found in his hand.
