13 Spider cannot seem to get into a good spot to strike

Hey! 1,000 posts! Yay!

Male Kobold Investigator1

"Rassssin'-Frassssin' Zombies and their irritating ressisstance to impact weaponsss!" Taishe hisses in a most uncivilized manner.

He steps aside to make room for his compatriots, all the while making mental notes on the creature that seems determined not to die,... again.

Disrupt Undead: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 - 4 = -11d6 ⇒ 6

Narl attempts to blast the undead zombie with his ray. Trying to find his opening as the chaos of battle rages.

Am I right to minus four off my roll because of the zombie is in combat?

I think so. You need a feat to shoot into battle without penalty

Not that it mattered anyways.

Just waiting on Nahuatl’s action. The Z is low enough that a good hit might put him down, so I’m not going to roll for him just yet

Finally finding a decent angle, Nahuatl ti, strikes, hoping to bring the vile undead creature down.

Nahuatl’s spear punches through the zombie’s torso, but sadly it has no working organs to Pierce. It swivels …

1d3 ⇒ 3

…and tries for Tragon

Zombie v Tragon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 51d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The crowding of the slow-footed zombie causes it to snap ineffectually at Tragon’s face

New round!.

"Well done." Taishe says, displaying only calm once more.

The Kobold moves in to closer examine the remains of the intelligent undead.

The Huecuva wears a suit of very rusted Chainmail. Underneath is a pendant made of gold. It is a holy symbol of Quetzalcoatl , a winged snake

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

”Gah, I have had enough of these abominations,” Tragon declares as he sheaths his swords. ”The sooner we are out of this fetid place, the better.”

“I would like to claim the holy symbol to return it to my temple, if that would acceptable “

Male Kobold Investigator1

TAishe notes the emblem, and reflects on what he knows of "Quetzacoatl".

And his K skills pop in NEXT level! :)

"When we have time, I would enjoy learning more of this symbol." Taishe tells 13 Spider. The kobold nods to the cleric to go ahead and claim his prize.

13 Spider takes it gratefully, tucking it into a pouch

"I would be most happy to instruct you in the mysteries of the great Feathered Serpent, Lord of the Morning Star."

He looks around the dripping, crumbling room

"Although this place reminds me more of Mictlan than Tonatiuh"

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

”I can try,” Tragon offers.

He inspects the door for traps, and listens for any sound from beyond it.

For DM eyes:
will of course look at the Huecuva not for items but for his fascination with the creature and not seeing one up close before. He will take a sample of it to bring with him placing it in jar he has for such samples so that he may perhaps understand the creature more in the future as well perhaps creating one himself.

Narl keeps his light source available for all as well as giving people room he will keep an eye behind them in case of surprise.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Narl

Spoiler:
I’ll need a stealth roll from you if you wish to keep this action hidden. Also, your knowledge check previously would have informed you that the Huecuva is created by a God’s curse, not necromantic action. But, it still could be an interesting study

No traps are discovered, no noises heard on the other side of the door. 13 Spider bends over the rotted zombies’ remains , intoning a low chant

“Rise from your bound state
Rise and enter Tlalocan
Blessed realm of the drowned
Escape the curse of Xipe Totec
Seek the protection of Chalchiuitlicue
She of the Jade Skirt
Go in peace and wander the Eighth World no more”

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon attempts to open the door.

To 13 Spider he says. "So this creatures soul was trapped in the body? What may have caused something like this to happen?"

The door bursts open revealing a large chamber. Four large wooden pillars support the ceiling, which sags dangerously in places. The ceiling is thickly hung with strands of dangling fungus. There are several doors in the room. One to the west - a muffled sloshing sound can be heard from beyond it. Two more doors to the north, one of which is badly damaged and hangs askew on its frame. Two more on the eastern wall, the more northern one the door Tragon just forced open. The southern wall of the chamber has collapsed, leaving that part of the chamber choked in debris. A rippling pool of water reaches into the chamber from this area. There seems to be the decayed ruins of a dock in the water, but just a few rotted pilings stick out of the water. A man’s body floats face down in the rippling water

13 Spider shrugs

“He was a priest of the Lord of Morning. If I was to guess, he went mad trapped down here and forsook his faith. His soul was denied entry into the Three Heavens and he was forced to remain in his corpse, becoming a filthy minion of the Flayed Lord”

Male Kobold Investigator1

The kobold pokes his snout past the doorway, peering around and sniffing occasionally.

"Yess. Ssoundss mosst unpleasant." He comments to 13 Spider.

"'Ware the likely-undead in the water. Shall we check near door firsst? " he inquires politely, pointing his walking stick at the door next to the one they are peeking in.

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

"Yes, let's," Tragon agrees. He goes to investigate the other door on the Eastern wall.

"Ah let me test something first before you go in. I will give that body a blast of positive energy. If it is animated it will react. But let's check the door first."

The group edges down the eastern wall towards the door. It is a double door, and is in a broken condition. Beyond is the hallway they initially entered into and fought zombies. At the other end is the broken door that lead to the old store room with the marble water cistern

Male Kobold Investigator1

"Ah. The map becomes clearer." Taishe nods.

The kobold points his walking stick at the facedown body.

"Perhapss your Possitive energy tesst earlier than later Master Narl? To avoid any further unexpected animationss?" He hisses a reptilian chuckle.
