An Opalline Tide

Game Master Patrick Curtin

My homebrew world with the addition of the classic Savage Tide AP as a plot device. Might throw some Razor Coast and Skull and Shackles in too. YARR! Time for adventure mateys!!

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Tragon agrees and goes to check out the next door.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Male Human Necro - Necrophagy 3rd, Fort +3, Ref +1, Will +4, Init: +4; Perc +4

"So shall we check out the other doors of the room? Or Shall we check out the pool of water more closely?"

"Depending on how extensive this warren is we may want to check out the cistern and if it is suitable we should fill up on water we may not have another chance."

Bribes always welcome

Tragon checks the door. It is slightly ajar, although still on its hinges. Swollen like the others, it is easy to get a peek inside without moving it. It is another storage area, slightly larger, with rotted hemp rope and rusted iron fittings that look as if they were once ship fittings. Likely a repair storage area

Male Kobold Investigator1

"Very Wisse." Taishe agreed with Narl, even as he peeked between Tragon's legs into the room beyond.

"Allow me."
The kobold circuits the room, peering about and sniffing occasionally.

Per: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
+1 more to find traps

Bribes always welcome

Are you checking the doors or by the water?

Male Kobold Investigator1

Sorry, Taishe is taking Narl up on his suggestion to check the water area for anything, and to see if the water is drinkable? ALthough I doubt it with a corpse floating in it. ;P

Male Half-Orc Fighter (Corsair) 2/Barbarian 1

Although I do believe we should search the storage room as well, we can search the water first.

Bribes always welcome

As Tragon looks at the ruined storeroom, Taishe moves to the water. It is sea water, the smell alone confirms that. As Taise approaches close to the lapping water, there is a sudden surge. Several large crabs with wicked claws emerge, scuttling towards the hapless kobold!

Roll initiative!!

While there is no depth recorded, I am assuming since this was one a smugglers cave, the depth would need to accommodate a decent-sized ship. So…. I’d say yes

Now that the crabs have been dealt with, the group ssees a corpse tangled up in some flotsam piled up in the far edge of the rotted pilings. The corpse looks heavily eaten by the crabs, and inert. It would have escaped notice except Taishe spies a semi-fleshless hand sticking from the accumulated debris.

The corpse is about 15 feet out in the water
