Are they attacking? What’s going on?
Ajax Arrowhawk
|
Are they attacking? You're so adorable Petra. :) Of course they are attacking. You think the author is going to let us just stroll out of here after Kevlor mushed all those demons! Ha!
All seriousness aside, Ajax/Ara doesn't really benefit from any of those items.
Juniper Berrythwaite
|
I will try talking to them.
Juniper steps forward to greet the ghostly mammoth riders. "Greetings brave warriors. I am Juniper Berrythwaite of the Westcrown Berrythwaites, and paladin of Apsu, the Waybringer. We are returning from a mission for the Bloodspeakers of the Red Winter tribe. We ask only to be allowed to continue on our way back to the tribal elders and present proof of our deeds." Juniper bows to the spirits.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Edit: lol. Yeah... Petra, they're probably attacking.
Ajax Arrowhawk
|
Ajax casts gravity bow on himself from his pearl. Ajax consoles Juniper, "Still better than I would have done."
Grel Veldgott
|
Grel angles himself to pounce on one of the mammoths. He prepares a spell to snare the beasts.
I can Entangle to try to separate them a bit.
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
Sorry the description doesn't make it clear- these are ghost-like mammoth lords (or "spectral") riding skeletal mammoths- obviously undead and hostile
@Ajax you know that mammoths when alive have gore and slam attacks they likely still have
Looking for knowledge Religion for the undead abilities/ID
Ajax Arrowhawk

Not sure how a ghost can trample people..lol. If they are undead, my Religion roll was a 13.

You what will check for flamability? FIREBALL!

I'll use another Alchemist's Fire to set all six alight if they take any damage
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
13 you do not know anything except that bludgeoning probably works best against the skeletal mammoths
To clarify- the mammoths are skeletal, being ridden by spectral riders

So how long has it been since we defeated th demons. I am going to to assume the minute/level buffs have worn off. It also looks like there were no precombat actions allowed? Assuming so...
As Petra releases another conflagration, Ajax has only one response, "Nice."
Ajax retreats back behind the group and recasts gravity from his pearl of power. He orders Ara to spring attack the same mammoth Grel attacked.

”Looks like fire works. Though it tends to work on most things if you use enough.”
Petra’s grin is spectacular when illuminated by 6 flaming undead creatures.
As the light of the ignited foes flickers and reflects off the snow Petra looks back and forth to her comanpions.
”I better share the fun though.”
She takes a single step backwards then casts Haste on the party.
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
The mammoths are just skeletal mammoths- no special attacks, only DR 5/bludgeoning and immune to cold like all skeletons
The mammoth riders are spectres- they are incorporeal and have channel resistance; these ones also have an ability that negates their sunlight powerlessness while riding the mammoths and for a while after
For attacks they have an incorporeal touch with a level drain, and create spawn
Grel hits his mammoth 3 times, his bite being fully effective but his claws slightly less effective, and when Ara springs in the cat brings the mammoth down, leaving the rider floating.

Just pending Kelvor then, I'll wait till tonight before I bot him or delay him
You might as well bot him now. He won't be back until Sunday. Kelvor is going to take a 5-ft step NE and power-bludgeon-death-rage against any target he can hit, preferring spectres to mammoths. Don't forget his haste attack and the +1 bonus.
Ajax Arrowhawk

Plus, I don't think he's enlarged.
Petra Orlovsky

Has it been more than 10mins?
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
Yeah, sorry I missed that; also apologies on the delays in general I'm at drill this weekend so I've been tied up periodically on Army business.
And yes, sorry if this wasn't clear- this was a "later on while traveling back" encounter, not one immediately following

Kelvor steps up and obliterates a mammoth, leaving only 1 mammoth and 3 riders.
Round 2
Petra's haste takes effect now
The remaining mammoth attacks Grell:

| Emberkin Dracolepus |
”Sorry Phrasma, you cannot have this one yet.”
Emberkin darts down to a spot next to Juniper to the north where he can reach Grel.
With a flick of the arm and a click a small vial is dropped into Emberkin’s claws.
He pulls the stopper and pours it down Grels throat.

"I'm sorry you are wandering the world, barred from your afterlife, but I cannot let you continue your undead depredations!" growls Kelvor as he hefts his earthbreaker.

Not sure who/what targets are up. I'll focus on the rider on Petra first, then Kevlor's, then the mammoth in the middle, if the current target falls.
Ajax, now feeling the enchantment from his divine spells and quickness from Petra's arcane enchantment, loads his bow with ghost salt arrows. "I love these babies"
Main attack w/FE Undead + PBS + Haste - Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 16 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 16 + 4 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 38
Damage (all arrows are ghost salt) w/GB + FE + PBS: 2d6 + 5 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 5 + 4 + 1 = 17
Rapid SHot w/Undead + PBS + Haste - Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
Damage w/GB + FE + PBS: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 = 17
Haste attack w/FE Undead + PBS + Haste - Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34
Damage w/GB + FE + PBS: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 2) + 10 = 15
Iterative w/FE Undead + PBS + Haste - Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Damage w/GB + FE + PBS: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 6) + 10 = 21
Ajax orders Ara to aid the defense of Kevlor (or Petra, if her rider is still alive).
If the two unseated riders are dead, Ajax will use a blunt arrow on the mammoth.
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
Round 2
Kelvor lashes out at the spectre which hit him, and his second attack obliterates the spirit despite its incorporeal nature!
Ajax begins firing!
His first two arrows his the spectre by Petra, and send the unquiet dead to its final resting place!
His final two arrows crush the mammoth, leaving only the final spectre!
Round 3
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Petra's spell catches the remaining spectre unprepared, but still deals less damage due to its incorporeal nature!
1. Petra
2. Mammoth Riders/Mammoths
3. Kelvor
4. Grel
5. Ajax
6. Juniper
rider: -51, on fire
Kelvor: 85/[105] 115, two negative levels (DC 16 Fortitude 24 hours later to remove)
Grel: -5/62
Petra: 39/67

Definitely, Grel.

Are there two spectres or one? There are two on the map.
Juniper adopts her signature defensive posture. "I'll cover you, Grel!" And she moves into a protective position between her friend and their assailant.
Standard total defense

Grel and everyone else adjacent gets +4 luck bonus to AC. (I think that covers everyone except Ara and Petra.)
| Oxnard Kettlebeak |
Sorry there was one only
Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
The last now mamothless spectre moves forward and touches Juniper, and she feels the icy bone chilling effect of the energy drain.
Kelvor: 85/[105] 115, two negative levels (DC 16 Fortitude 24 hours later to remove)
Grel: -5/62
Juniper: 39/[47] 57, two negative levels (DC 16 Fortitude 24 hours later to remove)
Petra: 39/67

Sorry, I didn't put down Juniper's defenses in my last post, because I was rushing. Her AC against incorporeal touch was 28.
Here is a breakdown of her bonuses to AC.
Mage armor, provides her with a +4 armor bonus, and it is a force effect so it works against incorporeal attacks. In total she has: +4 armor, +1 deflection, +3 Dex, +8 dodge (total defense), +1 insight, +1 size.
