Upon reaching the graveyard, Ajax casts Barkskin (+3 AC) on himself and Kevlor. He also asks Petra to use his wand of mage armor on Ara. Ajax then wands Longstrider on himself and Shield Companion on Ara. Ajax also cast Gravity Bow (9 minutes) and recalls the spells on his Pearl of Power.
"Should I cast Enemy Insight now?"

The terrain is neither urban nor jungle here
As you approach the graveyard, you see a mammoth, obviously suffering a plague, milling about, but do not immediately see the demon you came here for.
Moving into initiative now; the mammoth has not yet noticed you, so if you want to move stealthily roll each time you move. Please start yourselves in the red box.

Grel Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Juniper Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Kelvor Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Petra Initiative: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Mammoth Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
gibrileth Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Round 1
Turn Order:
1. Petra
2. Ajax
3. gibrileth
4. Grel
5. Kelvor
6. Mammoth
7. Juniper
Petra and Ajax can act before the demon; you could tell you were close prior to this, so you can have pre-cast minute/level buff spells as you approached, but not round/level ones, just declare which you have active on your first round's action please.

Petra will Enlarge Kevlor if he doesn’t object.
See invisibility and fly on Petra. Mags armour on her and Emberkin as usual. Can Ara benefit from Mage armour?
Invisibility on Emberkin.
Spell tattoo of D-door on Emberkin.
Does anyone else want fly? I can hit us all if you want.
Grease on Junipers armour from Emberkin’s spell slot (3mins)
As it looks like things could go poorly with the mammoth and the demon could appear any moment Petra casts Haste on the party.

Ok! New map and opponents up- same basic set up- minute/level buffs already up, round/level have to be cast in combat; Petra and Ajax going before the enemies. You CAN see where the demon is on this map setup however.

Recall Knowledge (Planes) on Aurochs: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Ajax will cast Enemy Insight on Grel, Kevlor, and Juniper

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

The Aurochs are an animal with the fiending template which gives them resistance 5 to Fire, Acid, and Cold, and SR (low enough you cannot fail), as well as the ability to smite good 1/day as the anti-paladin ability

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Round 1
Assuming the enemy switch didn't change petra's action
Petra casts haste on the party.
Ajax casts enemy insight.
The aurochs mill about, but do not move to engage yet.
The kitrangian begins to summon Summoning: 1d100 ⇒ 44 but it's pleas to the Abyss go unanswered by any more of its kind!
Round 1
Turn Order:
1. Petra
2. Ajax
3. Aurochs and Kitrangian
4. Grel
5. Kelvor
6. Juniper
That brings up the party to finish round 1/start round 2.

![]() |

Enemy Insight is a minute/level, but I'm fine with casting it as my first action. I will have already cast GB and used a Pearl of Power lvl 1 to recall the spell. I'll put my min/lvl spells at 7 minutes left and my 1 hr spells at 45mn. I also cast Life Bubble on the party some time ago..
I'll list Ajax/Ara active buffs in my spoilers.

Kelvor lumbers upslope towards the demon, ignoring (for now) the aurochs. Unable to reach it in his enormous state, he readies himself to strike.

Gotcha. I adjusted my move so I'm just barely within 45ft.

@GM: Just a reminder that Juniper's armor is glamered, so it looks like regular clothing instead of full plate. ;)
"Follow Kelvor, everyone!" Juniper calls, as she races after the giant warrior. "Stay on me!"
She turns and points at the demon standing on the small rise. "In the name of Apsu, the Waybringer, you shall not prevail today! Return to the depths of the Abyss or face your destruction!"

If they are Animals for Recall Knowledge, then that would be a 21 total. I want to know if aurochshave a trample or charge type of attack. Ajax has two bags of caltrops and wondering if I should throw them down.
"Mind that heard of aurochs, something tells me they are likey to charge us. A well placed grease spell might be our best defense."
Since Ajax will come up again before the demon, I'll move now.

Grel will bound up in his cat form and stop to lay a preventative territory for the fiendish aurochs.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

With the fiendish template added they become outsiders, but either way you'd know- they DO have special trample attack, but it only counts if 3 or more make the ordinary trample combat ability in the same round while adjacent so with this few of them they don't have enough to use it (called "stampede")
Round 1
Grel moves forward as a cat.
Kelvor moves forward and readies an action.
Juniper moves forward, activates her bastion of good, and enters a defensive posture.

Posted my action above. If the aurochs are Evil Outsiders, then Enemy Insight would work against them.

![]() |

@Grel: if you move 5 feet less, you get a +4 bonus to AC from Juniper. Spike Stones has range of Medium anyway. PLUS, you get like EIGHT of those 20-ft squares, not just one.
@GM: I had a typo above, adjacent allies get a +4 bonus to AC, not +8. Sorry.

per level! oh yeah we'll just lock up those aurochs then. I've laid out more squares and left us space in case we want to engage the main demon in melee.

Oof my reading was not on point- Spike Stones is noted for when they move/act again and the readied arrow attack. Pending Petra only then.

Petra raises her arms and floats into the air a little as flames build around her. Her tattoos flare and crackle as power builds before condensing into a tiny bead. Round 1
Petra sends the fireball, and watches as the second aurochs down incinerates in the blast.

Ajax looks up at the demon before him and can only sigh, "i knew it couldn't be that easy."
Ajax delays, hoping to put some distance between himself and his demonic neighbor.
Grel, don't forget you're getting +1 for Att/Dam with Enemy Insight
@Petra, any way you can teleport Ajax out of here? Alternatively, I just go Total Defense. Next to Juniper, that would put my AC at like 36. I could get another +2 from Ara. A third option is Juniper can trigger all of the demons AoO's (going to assume it's got Combat Reflexes) and Ajax slips out..
EDIT:
You know, Ajax does have 10 planar arrows. I guess I only thought that worked against Elementals, but if those works against demons, I would use them for the spell disruption shots. GM's call. Not gong to be upset if you're wanting to keep things as is, since I didn't bother to ask until now..

@GM: Just a reminder that Juniper's armor is glamered, so it looks like regular clothing instead of full plate. ;)
Juniper is going to delay until after Kelvor. If @Kelvor steps 5 ft. north, then Juniper will likewise. @Kelvor: don't move. Regardless, Juniper is going to pretty much do the same thing as last round: total defense.
At the start of her turn, Juniper will assign her +1 bonus from her shield to @Grel. He will get a +1 untyped bonus to his AC until next turn, as long as he remains adjacent to me.
"More fiends, more fun for everyone!" Juniper giggles. "It was so kind of you to come to us so that we need not go to you. It is the last mistake you will ever make!"
She turns and points at the new demon standing in their midst. "Don't think you are getting away today either!"

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Ajax- yes, those arrows do work against Demonns/devils (and angels) ect as they are all outsiders, for future reference
Round 2
Grel launches into attacks at the demon, but narrowly misses with his best aimed attacks.
Kelvor bashes the demon, and his final attack manages to do just enough when combined with the fire damage to put the first of them down!
Juniper activates her defensive abilities.
Round 3
Petra casts another fire spell:
Remaining Demon Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
The demon avoids the worst of this attack, and thanks to its fire resistance takes slightly less.
The already wounded aurochs simply have no chance, and the fire mercifully puts them out of their misery. redirecting to demon/aurochs/aurochs since the first demon was killed
