She too leaps in, after Bhru.

Kellan raises an eyebrow and waits for the sounds of screams of pain or sacks of meat bursting... "The kid went down here? Well damn... Gotta get my coin back somehow and neither of you look any softer to land on." Kellan gingerly climbs over the side and dangles a moment before dropping.

Then Phineas jumped and he was alone.
"Grraaaah!" Jon wordlessly shouted to the sky.
Then he hung his head in defeat. "Pack 'o ratzen fratzen..." He mumbled to himself through gritted teeth as he pulled a grappling hook out of his pack, threaded a rope through it, hooked it to the well lip and lowered himself down into the well...

Map updated, just using a place holder token for Phineas at the moment. Jon assume you're still topside affixing your rope when this kicks off.

Leaping into the unknown you fall a short distance before plunging into deep cold water. Dim light filtered down from the well above illuminates the chamber. Most of this circular cavern consists of the large pool of brackish water, its surface greasy with filth and rotting seaweed, which now clings to you. The cavern is mostly natural, but you notice a couple of arrow slits that have been carved into its walls. Dripping lead pipes protrude from the walls of the twenty-foot-high cavern, including one that's nearly two feet in diameter to the east. As you get your bearings there is rumble and rush of water starts to spill out of the larger pipe. To the west and south is a five-foot wide beach of grit and gravel. A narrow tunnel leads up at a shallow angle to the west and out of sight. From that direction comes a snarl as a large crocodile trundles into view.

As the stubborn dwarf breaks the surface panic strikes. He begins to flail and kick as much as possible before breaking the surface, managing to stay afloat despite the armor, the strength of his limbs carrying the burden for now.

Without much other choice he heads straight for the maw of the beast, hoping to find some footing.

Swim 10ft toward shore, and the baddie.

I have a feeling Phineas isn’t the strongest swimmer, but here goes: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Phineas plunks into the water. He tries to get his bearings swiftly, but it’s been so damn long since he’s had to move with any degree of aquatic urgency. No glory just yet.

Phineas staying in place, trying to keep his head above water. He would like to swim towards the crocodile (and the shore, but more importantly the crocodile) if he can.
@Fang—I’m assuming because I only failed the check by 4, I’m sufficiently afloat but kinda stuck in place until I can make another swim check?

@Phineas: You are correct. You can't move, but you are keeping your head above water.

Skipping Jon for the moment, can retcon an action if needed.

@Bhru and Ukufa: That's enough movement to get solid footing beneath your feet.

The croc ignores Bhru and splashes into the water, aiming for a more bite sized meal.

Bite vs Phineas: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Grapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 You are grappled. Also I noticed you need to add your 2nd level HP (I think I said it's average +1 per level)

From out of the darkness an arrow flies at Ukufa,
Twang: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The party is up. For the sake of convenience anyone touching the bottom at the edge of the pool can strike at the croc.

Phineas takes a swing with the longsword:
take that!: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 2 = 22

damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

@Fang—sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been grappled (also still getting the hang of pbp combat). Let me know if I’ve fudged anything up here and I’m happy to adjust as needed! Many thanks!

@Phin: Yup, you can attack with a 1-handed weapon with a -2 to hit.

@Jon: Enough light is coming down the well for you to see what is happening, but there is no illumination in the area itself.

Flailing around with it's prey leaves the crocodile open to attack and Bhru gives it a whack, followed a deft slice from Ukufa. In the grip of the croc's mighty jaws and trying to keep his head above water, Phineas takes a desperate swing. His blade finds purchase, striking some vital repitilian organ and the beast thrashes out in its death throes before its bite losens in death.

Another arrow comes flying out of the darkness,

Attack vs Bhru: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (6) = 7 striking Bhru from behind. The source of the arrows still remains illusive.
