Cloudia

Cloudia has a masterwork flute she might be able to trade, if she knew what was going on.
Aurus Goldson
|
Aurus gives a long and thoughtful nod. "Alright, this feels... this feels doable."
Did we ever get the chronicles for the session before this? I don't think my gold listed is accurate to the gold I have.
Cloudia

Cloudia only has about 500 gp, which is a fortune to her.
Cloudia observes Nemrok rooting through his purse and counting coins.
"Would someone tell me what is going on?"
She takes out here handy dandy pathfinder notebook and pencil and waves it around meaningfully.

Cloudia takes her masterwork flute to the man and presents it.

"Well, if he likes music, perhaps my flute might satisfy him."
Cloudia takes her masterwork flute to the man and presents it.
The Seawitch isn't impressed by Cloudia's gesture, but when Aurus drops the required 5000gp deposit the cecaelia hands over the book.
"Make sure to bring both tomes back to me when you have repaired the seal. Also if things become dire, use this gem. I'd rather have it back as well unused, so please only use it in an emergency."
Cloudia

Before she can stop herself, she asks, "What's that?" but then realizes that whatever he says she isn't going to know anyway. She can always asks someone later!

On your return through the smugglers tunnels to the devils Cloudia gets her hearing back! Now you can help formulate a plan to stop the infernal threat to the city!

During the trip back Cloudia has been very quiet but as they travel her hearing returns.
"Say something, Someone! The ringing has stopped."
Any chance at buying something en route? I'm thinking Nemrok (or someone with a descent UMD) might want a False Life or Mirror Image scroll considering how intense the combats have been.

The magic item market is quite close, so yeah, you’re able to buy some magic items
Cloudia

Sure. Cloudia will pick up a scroll of Summon Swarm. A nice situational spell.
| GM Auke |
can we really do this wiyhoutnoir melee chatavter?
Aurus has given you permission to play his character, so you do have a melee character. There are multiple ways I would handle this situation (or a combination of two to be completely sure), but I'd like to give you a chance to come up with a solution for yourselves. ;-)
Cloudia

Totally forgot about that!
"Well, the first thing is to go back, better prepared, and try to get that book back. Right?!"
Riceak Hawklight

"Say, Nemrok, you seem to be the most knowledgeable of us. If we were to distract them, do you think you could slip in and try to neutralize the books by putting them together? I'd rather try to avoid an all out fight like the last one. Any ideas how to get them to leave the book without getting ourselves killed? An illusion or something?"
Cloudia

I think we've delayed long enough. Unless someone objects here is the plan.
The group buys a scroll of invisibility and Nemrok uses it on himself and sneaks up to the book to do the deed. The group buys a scroll of levitate and Cloudia casts levitate and bull's strength on Aurus, lifting him up so that he is out of reach once he is in the alley with a line of sight on the book. Aurus starts pelting them with arrows and Nemrok moves in. The rest of us keep out of sight and move in if things get dangerous.

Levitate might be cheaper than fly, but has several disadvantages, the biggest one being that only the caster can move the subject up and down and that the subject can't move in other directions unless it has something to push/pull. Also shooting gets increasingly more difficult with each shot. Also looking at the map I'm not sure where you want to position yourselves.
The shield other is still running, so if Aurus needs to hand to hand at a certain point it might be wise to keep Riceak 'close' to Aurus.

I've placed the PC icons in a way that seems smart to me. Please note down which spells you want up before we start with the surprise round
Aurus: Bull's Strength (Cloudia), Fly (Scroll, Nemrok), Shield Other (Riceak), Align Weapon (oil) on Arrows, Align Weapon (oil) on Sword, Guidance (Riceak)
Nemrok: Invisibility (Scroll provided by ???), Mage Armor (wand), Guidance (Riceak)
Cloudia: Mage Armor (Wand), Guidance (Riceak)
Riceak: Guidance (Riceak)

If it is cash it can be a group buy. Don't know about PP though. I don't think you can pool PP for purchases. But we can all pitch in on the invisibility.
| GM Auke |
Oh Cloudia, I'm assuming bless is up as well?
Ok, Aurus flies over the ridge of the roof, which triggers the surprise round.
Stealth Aurus: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 1 = 21
Perception Red: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 10 - 4 = 13
Perception Orange: 1d20 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 10 - 5 = 11
Perception Yellow: 1d20 + 10 - 3 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 3 = 9
Aurus smites yellow and fires an arrow at the devil.
Guidance, Smite, Bless vs Flat Footed
To Hit: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 18 Hits for damage (Good,Smite): 1d8 + 5 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 8 + 1 = 20
Initiative
Aurus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Cloudia: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Nemrok: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Riceak: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Orange: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Yellow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Red teleports to the roof near Aurus, so he now threatens the paladin with his glaive.
Orange positions himself in front of the book.
Yellow clearly impressed by the severity of his wound moves to cover.
Aurus Sense motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Party is up!
Although I suspect Cloudia and Riceak will keep quiet and delay until they are needed?
Cloudia
|
Oh Cloudia, I'm assuming bless is up as well?
Correct, and staying out of sight.
| GM Auke |
Nemrok moves closer to the book.
And almost trip on himself!
Perception
Yellow: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 1 = 22The Yellow Babau suddenly turns his head in Nemrok's direction as it seems he heard something!
| GM Auke |
@GM have you counted the fact that the creature was distracted by Aurus shooting arrows? It's a +5 to the DC
FYI I double moved at half-speed to avoid the -5 to my stealth roll
I did count the fact they are distracted, but I read over the modifier. Also it isn't a Babau, but a Barbazu, so it seems I wasn't asawake as I thought when I posted! :-D
Nemrok seems not to have been noticed!
| GM Auke |
Red moves 10 feet back, then moves to the ledge and jumps from the roof towards Aurus, swinging his glaive at the paladin.
Jump: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 4 = 15
To Hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 Miss Due to the Shield Other
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Although his attack misses, the Barbaze gracefully lands on his feet.
Non Lethal: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Orange and Yellow teleport nearby roofs.
Party is up!
Does anyone of you want to take control of Aurus, else it feels like I'm playing chess against myself...
Aurus
Nemrok

Riceak

Orange -26

Cloudia remains out of sight, hoping to remain unnoticed.
| GM Auke |
Nemrok moves next the tome.
What can I do with my standard action?
Nemrok can use his standard action to try and determine how the books are supposed to be aligned.
Did the book open when it fell, 01-20 yes, 21-100 no: 1d100 ⇒ 30
Which side is top side, 01-50 front, 51-100 back: 1d100 ⇒ 18
Knowlegde Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Nemrok isn't quite sure how the books should be aligned.
| GM Auke |
Aurus flys 15' east and 15' up and looses an arrow at orange again.
"This seems a bit unfair. I am sorely tempted to engage you in spite of the odds. maybe you could throw your weapons?"
Turn greater than 45° by spending 5 feet of movement DC 15
Fly Aurus: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 2 - 1 = 23 Succes
Fly up at a greater than 45° angle would be a DC 20, while flying 20 feet east and 10 feet up wouldn't require a check at all, so let's go for that.
Either way, as you are moving out of the threat ranges of the devil's glaives Aurus gets two AoOs
Orange: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 Threat
Confirmation: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 Does not confirm
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 and Infernal Bleed: 2 = 2
So 6 for Aurus and 6 for Riceak
Red: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 Miss
Does Aurus want to lay on hands to try and close the wound?
Aurus' arrow hits orange and deals quite a bit of damage!

The cleric will change out the charm person spell for a clw spell om himself.
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

15' east and 15' up is a 45 degree angle and should not require a fly check. Any more than that would though. I think he can do that with the 60' fly speed even with the turn. I don't think Aurus would spend time on healing since he is being healed by Riceak and downing one of these things would be a great boon and, if he gets hit again, he would need to do a lay on of hands to remove the bleed again. I think he will keep shooting as long as he is not nearing dangerous HP territory and try to remove the bleeding after the battle with his LoH.

You are right, somehow forgot that fly also increases movement and that Aurus isn't wearing medium armor any more. However lay on hands is a swift action, so it won't interfere with his ability to shoot devils. BTW, Riceak isn't healing Aurus, but only taking half of the damage for himself and healing that part, effectively giving Aurus the ability to withstand double the amount of hitpoints.

"You are fighting like a coward, but you won't be able to kill all of us before our brethren and sistren are released from their prison. I am sure several Erinyes will be quite furious when they see you are wielding one of their bows!"

Yellow teleports away again.
Orange takes cover behind the ridge of the roof.
