Shandra hits the assassin once with her blade, but Argoni pierces through her once before she collapses. He continues the pressure on Barralbus.

I'm gonna assume you would Step to flank with Barralbus and attack again.

His blade goes right through Barralbus and he cries in pain before he collapses.

Flunk enjoys burning another crate, even if it isn't helping the mission.

Combat Over

The assassin carried a rapier, and Barralbus carried a spellbook as well as a quarterstaff and a crossbow.

Themolin begins rambling from his chair. Probably crying for help or asking you to put out the fire.

Argoni wipes the bloody shortsword on the assassin's clothing. He stares at the holes pokes in her body from his oversized shiv for a moment, then slips it back into its sheathe. "Didn't they teach you not to turn your back on the halfling?" He gathers her rapier up.

Themolin coughs and takes a deep breath of fresh air as Shandra loosens his restraints.

"Thank you so much! That idiot Barralbus has been vying for my seat for years. He and this thug ambushed me on the way over here. He knows I'm up to something, but he didn't know what." He relaxes a bit.

"Guaril sent you, right?" He stands up and begins putting out the fires on one of the crates. "He was supposed to get me out of here a week ago. I already sold my home and was using this place as a... base of sorts." He points to a bed, jug of fresh water and some food tucked away in the warehouse, hidden behind a wall of crates.

"There's a huge accounting error as of late- this guard, Ellvard. He sold a forgery to the Runelord herself, and I approved the transaction. I should have inspected the statue myself- I didn't know! As soon as she figures it out, it's my head on the guillotine."

"So, what's your plan for getting out of here? Besides Barralbus, no one else knows I'm here. They're too busy with the day to day work. They won't notice I'm gone for at least another week. Get me out of here and you can take my payment with you." He makes a gesture to one of the crates. Inside you see a collection of beautiful artwork.

"Curfew is coming soon. We can stay here for the evening. Plenty of room to make more beds here."

You can choose to stay here for the evening or take Themolin to the Rockfish Inn.

It takes everything for Flunk to pull away from his entrancement of the nearby flames. He pulls another tie out of his briefcase and just as he finishes tying the knot, his face takes on a much calmer, measured look. "Indeed, come with us to the Inn. Much more comfortable than sleeping in a warehouse, I would think."

"But I have everything set up so... fine. I'll grab some of my favorite wine bottles and we can go."

Some of the guards are concerned for the party walking around so late, but Themolin calms them down. "Do not worry, we're on a surprise inspection. No one would expect us to show up right before curfew!" He smiles.

At the Rockfish Inn, you notice a black-haried woman standing outside the inn, playing with her favorite green scarf. It's the woman you met in the recruitment center. "I heard this was the time and place for me to be here."

"I'm Astrid Kallade." She smiles. "I've always wanted to join the Emerald Guard, even when I was a kid. I had a missing tooth though, so when I tried to say Guard, I said Garrla instead." She nods. "Can I come in?"

Yurna seems more active than usual. Yuleg is quite surprised as two more guests arrive. "I guess we're all going on a vacation, soon?"

Anything you are doing overnight?

The Rolanna’s Prayer will be at the Shard Cove tomorrow with enough space for 5 clients. Yurna and Filtch would be excellent guides to the cove. Grog was able to build a raft that could carry 6 people. Thursday will be a busy day...

Argoni looks at Daffird's family and the walking rocks. Then he looks at the others, counting them on his fingers. Themolin, Yuleg and Vurna, and Astrid. Then he ticks off another finger for Filtch.

He turns to Daffrid, then to Seddothrum. "You want your family to get out, yes? But you don't have the payment. Seddothrum, you also don't have payment, and you're likely way too heavy for the raft. So if you want out, you take more risk. These paying customers get on the boat and get out of town. You come with us to try and walk out. We don't know how just yet, but we're working on it. If you don't accept that..." He shrugs. "Then we can't help much. And just Daffird comes."

"I'm inclined to agree with Argoni's pragmatism," Flunk nods emphatically. "Unfortunately, the raft may not necessarily be safe, but I have no doubts Grog's construction was second to none. Have you seen the way that rubber chicken ties everything together? Truly a marvel of modern raft design."

Grog's face actually flushes a little, "Thanks! Boat will be fine. Will need to weigh rock man, might be too heavy though. That have Grog worried."

After everyone is settled Grog tries to bring the pathfinders together. once he does he will whisper, "OK, what plan to get everyone out? We get everyone out, right? It right thing to do. Grog all about freedom..."

Klank nods in agreement with Argoni's summation "There's a process here that needs to be followed, and Argoni put it out there plain. We'll take our regular payed customers on the first wave. Then, we'll do what we can take take others using the raft afterwards." Klank is a pretty straightforward fellow.

Daffrid is distraught but holds her composure. "Those are the agreed terms, yes? If you're willing to bring my entire family, then I will wait. Someone else may go in my place."

Vurna exhales. "I can get us to the Shard Cove, no problem. But I want to say hi to Filtch. May be the last time I see him..."

Sounds like you want to bring Yuleg, Themolin, Filtch and Garrla to the ship. Did I get that right?

Vurna leads you through the sewers. She's clearly been through here before and knows her way around. "Alright, Filtch should be here..."

Filtch wakes up, hands on his weapons. "Eh, Vurna! Haven't seen you in a few days. Thought you were mad at me. Oh, hello Mister Yuleg. Are you doing well today?" Filtch tries his best to act sincere as Yuleg glances between him and his daughter.

"Do you know the route to Shard Cove or not? We need to get out of here. Now."

You carry the raft through the tunnels, trying not to damage it on the tight ceilings and craggy floors.

Who is carrying the raft? I need an Athletics check.

Huh, this map doesn't tell me much...

Grog is able to navigate through the cave, easily.

You reach the edge of the cove. Vurna looks out. "That ship... is that our way out?"

A ship is about 250 feet from the cove. You don't see anyone on the deck, but you do see Rolanna’s Prayer written across the prow. Now you just need to get across the water.

So, the raft has room for 6. Who is getting on the raft? All PCs on the raft should make a perception check to spot traps.

After Shandra and Argoni speak Grog looks to the boat again. "Grog can row and fight. Grog take people to boat."

That's a hard pass on Klank making more than one trip out! Also, no sailing lore for this land lubber.

Argoni draws a flask of acid and prepares for the creature to come out of the water. In his other hand, he draws his shortsword. "I see it!"

Shandra pulls her longbow and quickly fires an arrow that splashes off the water. Argoni draws his weapons, as he knows it's going to be dicey.

The creature swims up to Grog and tries to clamp him with its pincers.

Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Grog is Flat footed, so the -2 AC penalty means this is a hit.
Slashing Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

It then Grabs Grog, keeping him held in place.
Grog, you can attempt an Escape action to break free, or hope the monster moves.

Grog isn't able to escape the monster's grip until Shandra shoots it twice and Argoni stabs it. Its limp body drifts beneath the waters, and Grog maintains his balance on the ship.

Combat Over. 2e Grabs are no longer free, that's cool!
Grog has taken 7 damage. Also, he has to make a saving throw against poison.

You continue to sail across the cove. Shandra's keen eyesight notices something in the water- a jagged piece of crystal juts out from the surface of the water and could damage the raft!

If you're trained in Survival, make a check to blunt the crystal's edges without getting hurt. Otherwise you should make a Reflex Save to avoid hitting the crystal!

Shandra's expert navigation lets her avoid the crystal altogether.

You make it to the ship without additional worries. Only as you close in do you notice a rope hanging from the side.

Garrla nods to you all. "Thank you so much. Sorry for the secrecy, but if anyone else on the Emerald Guard found out I was leaving they'd kill me." She grabs the rope and climbs on the deck of the ship. "Looks clear. Come on."

Filtch smiles. "She was so eager to go first and check for danger for us. Real nice. Oh well." He blows a kiss in the direction of the coast. "Up, up and away!" He begins climbing on the deck.

Themolin stares at the rope. "I'm not much of a climber. But I'll remember all of your names. I'll become the Minister of Tithes at um... wherever you live. Just get me home safe!" Themolin struggles up the rope until Garrla and Filtch pull him up.

Garrla looks down to you. "Alright, we're good here. Get Yuleg and Vurna over here."

GM Rolls:

You return to the shore without trouble. Vurna is blushing. "Filtch blew me a kiss, didn't he? He's still got it."

Yuleg nudges her with his elbow. "We're ready to board. Klank, from one Dwarf to another, I thank you. Hopefully we return to solid land soon."

Any changes in marching order on the raft? Anyone else wants on or off?

Grog touches some bruising but says "Grog good to go!"

thanks for making the (good!) save for me. That really helps on timing. Saturdays can be odd for me. Sometimes my daughter is over. She wasn't today but we had a nice walk and spent some time working in the yard. :)
