I am as always in a learning process, so forgive your GM for the blunders I will be making but don't you dare make a single mistake yourselves

I hope it will be a fun run for us all!

Hereunder is what I will need from all of you.


Please take time to discuss and ask about what you don't understand or do not have yet, and, as much as you can, try and only post this when you have it all (so I have your info' in one place).

On slide #2, you can:
• add your mini to the marching order bar
(I will help for those who do not know how to create one)
• enter your info' for Initiative etc..
There are three boxes to fill out.
w. stuff like:
[dice=NAME]1d20+[/dice DEFAULT EXPLORATION ACTIVITY
You put your name in "NAME", and add your bonus (or 0) after the + of the d20.
You can do so for Stealth, Perception, and then for what will be your usual Init' (what you choose depending on your go to Exploration Activity).
Then replace the words DEFAULT EXPLORATION ACTIVITY by what that is (like Avoid Notice etc.).

NO PROBLEMS if you have questions re. this, I'm here to help as it can be confusing if never done before.

Hello, Drew here checking in as requested. I am not new to 2nd edition but this is my first PbP so please bear with me while I figure everything out. :)

I'm also not sure if I did the downtime mechanic properly, just let me know if I need to alternate it or something. Should I account for bulk somewhere on my character as well? (there is an errata re. backpacks where most of what you put in them does not count, so bulk is not a problem anymore, in general ; but just reading your list here on this page, you should be fine re. bulk, even if you have low strength).
re. downtime, I'll look at it and explain if needed, but you rolled a nat' one which is a crit' failure, so: no money!

Sirus:
It is not too important to note the crit' effects, like Clumsy & Bleed, since these do not trigger yet (unless I am missing something).
They only trigger when you get some weapon specializations etc.

The Katar has the Uncommon trait, so you need special things to get one when you create your character.
I imagine you thus cannot start w. one? (sorry if I missed something)

I would check your armor, because I think that Studded Leather would be considered metallic, and thus not work for you... (Druid prohibition).
I'd say, in general, that it is is Leather, or else the Hide one.

Granitt, it seems all great to me!

Some nitpicking:

• you don't need to note (attached to shield) for your bash, that's the shield itself (not a boss or spikes)

• you are a Forge Dwarf so I'd note somewhere that you treat environmental heat effects as if they were one step less extreme (incredible heat becomes extreme, extreme heat becomes severe, and so on) - you might never use it, but it could come in handy in the desert etc.

• I imagine you went with Warrior background, right? (maybe note it done somewhere)

• I would buy a repair kit if were you. Since you have crafting, and thus can repair your shield after some blocks.
I imagine you can carry the 2B - otherwise pick up a backpack since the 1st 2B in a pack 'do not count" (you seem to have the 2 gold 1 silver for this)[/spoiler]

No, play whatever you want.

Especially since it is a Quest. Without spoiling, all Quests are built along the same lines: one social encounter ; one "environment" encounter ; one "battle" encounter"... for 1 xp ; 1 Fame ; 1 Rep (basically 1/4 th of a scenario).
So there is never a whole gamut of skills etc. to have, thus I am sure any group composition can try and tackle the adventure!

Totally off piste, but if none have heard of the BBC Radio Series Elvenquest, then give it a listen for a bit of a chuckle. Elvenquest 1st episode


For the record, I am from Poland so European time zone here. I played couple of PF2 games and actually never saw anyone playing Champion ( I don't know why tbh, and I only saw 1 Monk ;)) and would be happy to see one.

Ok DM I believe I've made the corrections you brought up to me, and have added the pertinent information on the slides, thank you I can't wait to play!

- this is not my first 2nd-edition character, but it is only my second *PFS* 2e character (and the first time I didn't bother with downtime or any ancillary PFS activities). So this time I should probably learn about resources, the free consumable, and whatever else I was missing.

- I'm pretty confident my character build is correct and includes all relevant info, but feel free to audit and ping me if I did miss something (given the streamlining of the 2e rules, I feel it's much easier to do on your own).

• PaleDim, what do you mean by:
Grand Archive (unclear when I would choose a different one)
You can choose what you want as your first Faction.
You get a free Boon to collect Reputation for that Faction.
Then, whenever you want, you spend some Fame (2 I think? can just check in the Guide, that is linked on the very top left of this page) to get another Faction Champion Boon to be able to slot that one and collect Reputation for a different Faction.
Normally, people will start out w. one Faction, and then maybe branch out to another later on to get a Boon from that Faction they want.

(hoping I did not answer beside your question!)

• okay, Sirus! I hope my advice will not turn out to be disastrous...

• the free consumable
Does everybody know about the Schools (Spells, Swords, Scrolls) you can put 3 points into? That is in the Guide too.
It lets you get a free consumable for each scenario played, two if you have all points in one school. A Lore Skill trained if you have 2 points in one School.
If someone does NOT know about this or wants help, please speak up here, and I will happily explain more and give links.

• I'll try to take a look today or tomorrow at Elsha's character build
(I too feel that PF 2E seems at first like a complex thing to build your character, but if you just do it step by step it turns out pretty easy I think).

Well, the idea is for me to know which one you are doing by default.
So, it would be best to only put one up. And to tell me if you switch for a specific moment. Otherwise you have to tell me each time which one you do.

• @Stabby: will Sneak, scouting for party
Per the rules you must choose one or the other.
Sneak (Avoid Notice) lets you use Stealth to roll Initiative. And you use whatever you rolled to Hide and not be seen by the enemy.
Scout means you roll Perception for the Init' and give all the group (including yourself) a +1 to Init'

Got it. Let's go with Avoid Notice as default (updated on slides), and when I want him to switch to detect magic based on hints at a location, I'll say so.

Great!

FYI: the Detect Magic exploration mode is 100% effective (you detect for sure). Thus, in general, no need for 2 PCs to take it.
(unlike Search, where it gives a "free" Seek roll, that one can of course fail... or crit' fail sometimes!).

I made the build easier using demo mode in HeroLab online, as it can create 1st level characters for you for free. You gotta pay after 1st, so once you exported in BBCode and/or printed the character, it's manual levelling after that.

Still had to make get more details into the character sheet than the exported BBCode, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty quick to create characters (remember to tick the box for PFS characters to get factions etc.)

Currently Granitt is a field agent, but will change to School having just read what the Field Agent gets. I only made him a field agent cos I hadn't at that time found out how to assign points to the schools, but now I have.

I get the organised play website, even if I find it aweful to get around. Is there a Society pdf that you can download and print to read at your leisure? If so where can I get it, cos it's not on Paizo site like the old 1st Ed PFS. Or I caouldn't find it.

So, 12 Challenge Points.

Parties with challenge points of 15 or less always play in the lower subtier.

No mentorship.

If the Quest calls for a “number of players” adjustment I will thus apply: a 6-player adjustment OR 1 level bump.
Note that Challenge Point totals of 12–13 allow the GM to make a choice between two options that provide a similar degree of challenge.
However, each scenario varies slightly in the differences between these two options, and the GM is encouraged to select the option they predict will be a more fun and fair challenge for the group. (Parties often prefer options that give the PCs more monsters to fight.) You can pick between the options individually for each encounter.

FYI, the level bump means that I:
• Increase every DC listed in the scenario by 1.
• Increase the attack modifiers, attack damage, spell damage, saving throw modifiers, skill modifiers, Perception modifiers, and ACs of all enemy creatures by 1.
•Increase the Hit Point totals of all enemy creatures by 10 or by 10%, whichever is higher.

Otherwise I will use your 12 CP as indicated in the Scaling info' (most scenarios have specific mechanics in their writing on how to adapt for each CP bracket).

I will check the rules (or you guys can if you want) on what rolls to make and what happens if you fail (I only know those for spellcasters) but I am confident that, yes, you can swap recipes (probably a cost to it for copying?).
