Milady'

Milady claps: "An honest woman, bravo!
And thank you for the information, you are also an efficient administrator."
After we choose at what time we are coming back - I am fine with whatever time slot works for the others - Milady moves away with the others:
"Where to now?"
Milady'

"I would love to go to the Emerald Guardhouse.
I imagine they have handsome muscular guards there..."
| GM Watery Soup |
Columns of this wide building are carved in the likeness of Runelord Belimarius. Its wide courtyard is filled with practice dummies and other evidence of martial training. Guards are beginning and ending their shifts. A short line has formed outside the door of a recruiting area, where a guard stands stationed.
"Are you here to join the Emerald Guard?" a shirtless, well-oiled, handsome, muscular guard demands.
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
"Was told to see Garrala for that, friend", Ixlilton says, flexing his muscles. "Was told I had potential."

(Dammit! Don't you dare roll higher, Hookie!)
Milady'

Milady nearly swoons-- and remains speecheless.
| GM Watery Soup |
"Garrala? There's nobody here by that name. Get in line if you want to be recruited for the Emerald Guard. Go to the practice yard if you want to be recruited to be a practice dummy. Haw haw haw!"
Several of the nearby Guards join in the laughter, and they give each other windmill high fives.
Hookie of Saranrae
|
"Oh! Hookie am knowing you now! You am BROS!" He turns to the others in a low voice. "Bros am very dumb, but even dumberer when Bros am in groups!"
Hookie strips his shirt off. "Hookie am impressing Bros now."
He begins to strut back and forth, flexing and showing off his muscles while making low grunting sounds.
"Hookie am biggest Bro! Hookie am intimidating Bro!"
Intimidation, untrained and hopeless: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Milady'
|
Milady stops gawking at the muscular men, when she sees her strange companions making fools out of themselves.
"See how powerful the Emerald Guard is! My companions try to joke and pretend they are strong as you. Do not take them seriously.
I mean, they cannot even speak straight!
Is Garrla here?"
Diplomacy, trained: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
| GM Watery Soup |
"Yo, bros - remember that chick from Tithes? This must be her husband! Haw haw haw!"
They give each other another round of self-congratulatory high fives, but quickly stop and salute when a shirted, female Guard approaches.
"If you have extra time on your hands, there are latrines that could use a good scrubbing," she states. She waves a hand and they scatter.
"As for you," she says to the Pathfinders, "It's a good time to be recruited." She walks off toward the recruitment area.

Regus
|
Regus steps forward to show these bros how it looks when an ulfen man flexes when the festivities are stopped. He looks around a little sheepishly and then straightens up.
He eyes the new arrival skeptically, "Maybe we'll do that." He prepares to follow but keeps his hand near his weapons.
Milady'
|
Milady makes sure the guards scatter... and, if she can do this discreetly, motions for--
--some stealthy one to pick a piece of paper up.
Again, once people are out of earshot, she whispers to her comrades: "This is Garrla! Let's follow her."
Out loud: "If we HAVE to, I'll go... but I do not want to be recruited."
Milady'
|
Milady admires Gazard's work.
And follows along to go see the officer.
Milady'
|
Checking that her companions are following, Milady goes along to see Garlla.
"Do we really need to be recruited?"
She will look around to see if anyone else is within earshot.
| GM Watery Soup |
When the group gets to the front of the line, Garrla relieves the guard so she handles the group personally.
"Your papers, please," she requests.
Assuming you give her your papers, she'll look them over. After being satisfied that you are spies, she points to her uniform.
"If you like it and you have what it takes, it can be yours one day soon. Just tell me the time and the place.”
Milady'
|
Milady glances to her comrades, to see which place and time they feel is the best.
Milady'
|
With a quick aside: »We do not want her to leave her post too early to not attract attention... and lead any to us.
Others okay with Yuleg’s later today?
Let us hope she is not some spy. »
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
"Tomorrow evening I'd love to join the guard", Ixlilton says eyeing her, "these barracks would be an upgrade from my room at the Rockfish Inn."
Milady'
|
»And pickle brine... »
| GM Watery Soup |
Garrla nods, and casually mentions that a guard named Ellvard is scheduled to work at the docks. She then hands Milady a small black
notebook.
“Hope you have what it takes.”
To get the book past the guard, one of you will need to Conceal an Object (Stealth). Please decide who will attempt and post your modifier. (It's a secret check.)
Milady'
|
Milady looks around-- to whom will she pass the booklet.
| GM Watery Soup |
Gazard casts ghost sound just as Variel passes by the guards. They were about to say something, but rush outside when they hear the noise.
The group makes its way back to the Rockfish Inn.
The book is a ledger showing a guard named Ellvard recently sold an expensive piece of art to Belimarius. Realizing its potential blackmail value, Garrla had stolen it.
You can make Medicine to heal Elena or Crafting checks to make rafts (open). Also, you guys need to have an in game discussion of the exit plan - you've instructed Garrla to meet you tomorrow, but there is no space on the Rolanna's Prayer and the Merry Mayfly doesn't leave until Friday. It's a fixable mistake but make sure you have a plan for every person, or they may sink the entire party!
Milady'
|
Milady goes to help Elena: "How are you doing, dear? Have some more tea!"
She checks her vitals, and tries to help.
Medicine, Trained: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Ixlilton watches Hookie go at it with the rafts, stretches and gets to work next to him.
"Oh boy, what a day, eh, friend Hookie?"
Craft, Untrained: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
|----|----|----|----|
"So what is the plan? Do we continue to move these people through the sewers, friends? I've just noticed that I might have invited our dear friend Miss Guard too early."
Regus
|
I assumed we were going to meet her so we could tell her the plan without prying ears nearby.
With nothing else he can do, and with time running out, Regus decides to try his hand at building a raft.
Craft: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
| GM Watery Soup |
Hookie builds a monstrosity of a raft - somehow appearing more makeshift than it actually is. Still, it's seaworthy and can hold 4 people.
Ixlilton follows Hookie's lead, lashing random wood together and managing to make a raft that holds another 4 people.
Regus also attempts to build a raft, but Hookie's design just doesn't make sense. The barrel isn't ruined, but the raft isn't crafted, either.
Rafts: 2 (x4 people each)
Barrels remaining: 4
Milady'
|
"Hopefully Elena will be cured soon...
So, how will we organize our evacuation?"
Has anyone been following all closely, and already made some sort of list or table?
Probably best to add something like that to the slides to see who leaves when and how and make sure we do not forget anyone or mess things up.
| GM Watery Soup |
People: Flitch, Yuleg & daughter (Stage 1 filth fever), Daffrid & 3 family (children can't go alone), stone giant (counts as 1), Garrla
Pending: Themolin (appt on Wednesday)
Rolanna's Prayer: can take 5 at dawn on Thursday
Merry Mayflower: can take unlimited on Friday but you'll need to go past the guards
Rafts: for 8 (as it stands, 3 PCs will have to swim out to the Rolanna's Prayer)
Resources remaining: 4 barrels, Flitch's disguise kit, Flitch's forged papers, your own forged papers, a wagon, a gigantic pile of pickled fish, the blackmail book (corrections welcome)
---
I believe you previously decided that Flitch, Daffrid and the kids, and the stone giant would go om the Rolanna's Prayer. They are all in the sewers already - but you will need to be in the sewers at dawn, meaning you have to sleep there on Wednesday (note the secondary effect of not neing able to heal Yuleg's daughter on Wednesday night unless you move her into the tunnels in which case nobody will be available to meet Garrla).
There are no insurmountable problems, but I can't railroad you into the optimal solution, I do need someone to post it.
Variel Dardala
|
"Either Milady or myself, or both, could remain here to continue treating the young lady and meet Garrla, while others take to the sewer to get the first group out to the Rolanna's Prayer. It's always a gamble to split our forces, but sometimes it is necessary."
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
Ixlilton takes a bite out of a pickled fish and leans against a wall.
"If we do split up, I'll go with the others through the sewers. Just in case. Once they're safe, I'll either swim back or take a raft back. What say you?"
| GM Watery Soup |
The group discusses the plan as they go to bed, but people start dozing off.
The next morning, you head back to the Ministry of Tithes. The receptionist gives Hookie a wink as she points the way to Themolin's office.
A portly man with thinning hair looks up from behind several stacks of papers, some nearly toppling from the heavy wooden desk upon which they are perched.
“I-I understand that y-you’ve made an appointment to s-see me. H-how may I b-be of assistance?” he stammers as he hesitantly rises to his feet.
Milady'
|
Checking that we are alone, Milady smiles:
'Rafts.
We are here to commandeer some rafts.
How many can you get for us.
And we need them by tonight!"
Milady'
|
"Then we must leave.
But... you want to leave also?
Maybe we leave together?"
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"M'lady is a bit too direct." Ixlilton checks to see that they are alone in the office before continuing. "Listen up, Themolin. We're here to extract you on behalf of your good friend Guaril. You supposedly found something and now you want out, right?"
