Milady'

"Mister Karela did, yes. We are here to escort you and your daughter out of the city.
Is she ill?"
Milady'
|
"Bitten by a rodent? Does she have fever?"
Medicine, trained +7
Milady will look at others who try to ID the disease, and help them: "Come on, now, think! What kind of education did you get? Well... use it! Yes, yes, work hard on going through your memory..."
Inspire Competence: she rolls Performance, trained @+8 and uses that to Aid another, w. normal DC @ 20 (if she fails it is a success, and on a nat' 20 she gives +2, so, in general she gives +1 all the time)
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
"Milady, I am but a fighter. I know how and where to stab someone, not how to deal with rat bites, eh.", Ixlilton says with a slight shrug before turning to Yuleg.
Medicine +0, untrained
"Why did you let your daughter go into the sewers!? Even if Guaril mentioned an extraction through there could you not have gone there instead of her?!"
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
Ixlilton tightens his knuckles but does not pursue the topic after Regus' reprimand. "Fine. We'll do whatever is in our power to aid your daughter." "Since obviously you can't be trusted to", murmurs Ixlilton under his breath.
| GM Watery Soup |
Milady Aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Ixlilton Medicine: 1d20 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 0 + 1 = 7
Milady Medicine: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Regus Medicine: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Milady recognizes this as stage 3 Filth Fever. It can be treated, but will require 8 hours and a Medicine check.
Milady'
|
Milady nods: »Well, well! Young ladies should not go play in the muck. You will not catch a suitable spouse... only filth fever.
And this one is rather advanced!
Let us all go in if you will?
And I can try to tend to her. I might have said that I was a nurse in the Puddles, and I... »
Milady has a healer’s kit and will see about tending to the poor lass—
Medicine, trained: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
»I hope you get well soon my dear. Nice young thing like you! »
Looking to her comrades she will ask who wishes to ask and negotiate our staying here at the inn for a few days, and about his being exfiltrated if and when his daughter is better.
»She needs time to heal so we can go check on others in the meantime? »
If needed Milady can talk and roll Diplomacy @ +8
I just want to let others act, since we all post at different times.

GM, to confirm, does that mean someone needs to stay here with her for the full 8 hours, or do we need to check on her periodically and wait 8 hours before trying to move her?
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
"If Milady can keep on tending to the lass, then I believe we need to keep moving. We do have a time limit and nothing will be gained by just staying here. The list mentions a Flitch, Daffrid, Garrala and Themolin. We might want to go for Themolin. He seems to be more scared for his life, and scared people make mistakes. Deadly mistakes."
Milady'
|
"If they have a way of heating water, I will stay, and Yuleg and I can make some scones to go with tea."
Milady is ready to settle in for the duration, and will tend to the ill daughter.
Hookie of Saranrae
|
Hookie shakes his head. "Hookie can stay with sick lady. Milady am much better at playing pre-ten then Hookie am. Hookie am good with sick people. Hookie am trained!" Hookie has a +5 trained to his Medicine, so he should be fine to take care of the sick daughter and Hookie knows that Milady is much more social than him in a strange city where telling the truth might get them all in deep, deep trouble.
Milady'
|
Milady tries to see how the daughter is faring, to answer Master Regus, and see how to answer Hookie's offer.
| GM Watery Soup |
Filth Fever is a chronic condition, so there's no hour-to-hour urgency, but there is day-to-day urgency. Mechanically, the daughter gets a save every 24 hours, so treatment starting now will be no different from treatment starting after curfew. Yuleg offers to let you stay at the inn as long as you help his daughter.
He also offers you some pickled fish in return for your services, and shows you several barrels packed full of pickled fish.
Variel Dardala
|
"Alternately, we make sure she is settled for the day, and properly tend to her during the curfew this evening, when we can't be out - or, at least, we can't be out in a large, conspicuous group."
I think that is what the GM was hinting at. :)
EDIT: Ninja'd by the GM! :)
Milady'

So, Milady rolled a medicine check
But it only take effect after 8 hours? And Milady does not have to be present for the next 8 hours? We can get her to bed and have her rest, and then use the roll at the end of the day?
Thus Milady can leave with the others?
Ixlilton Tenochtzin

"I hope you have some more pickled fish, Yuleg. We'll need to export these out as merchants" Ixlilton says while explaining their cover to the innkeeper. "The success of our cover also assures your extraction. Also that snake Guaril will also be asking for his payment once you and your family is safe and sound. I hope you also have that with you".
Milady'

Milady makes sure the daughter will rest, stay warm, drink a lot--
"Not liquor, just tea and such!"
--and she will return in the evening to tend to her.
"So, comrades, where do you wish to go?"

Yes, but it is still day time, we go to one other place tonight and then come back here. Just not to any weird strange places.

"We can kill two birds with one stone - we'll use the fish as cover, and then Guaril can take them as payment!" exclaims Yuleg.
Yuleg has lots of pickled fish. As a matter of fact, he has six barrels in all. The barrels are watertight, much to Hookie's dismay, as he can't smell the pickle brine at all.
But as Ixlilton watches Hookie paces around the odorless barrels hoping for a quick sniff of that sweet, sweet pickle brine, he realizes that the barrels, if empty, could probably be crafted into rafts.
Where to? Time card and a picture of Yuleg are updated on Slide 2.
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
Ixlilton wags a finger at Yuleg. "I doubt Guaril will take fish as payment, Yuleg. Honor your contract and pay what was accorded."
Turning to the others, he points at the barrels with a thumb. "Mistress Durant said we'll need to transport the refugees out through Shard Cove. We could try building a raft with these. If anyone has a inkling on how to. As our dear friend Hookie has discovered," he raps the top of a barrel thrice. "They're watertight."
He then throws a glance towards the door. "I believe I suggested Themolin, but the thief Flitch knows a secret way into Shard Cove, if I remember right. We could split up and go for both."
Variel Dardala
|
"If Flitch can get us there without having to pretend to be a batch of pickled fish, I'm all in favor. Despite the efficiency, though, I am not happy at the thought of splitting up. If any trouble were to happen, I would personally prefer that all know about it and be able to react."
Regus
|
"Yes, we still have five days. If it becomes necessary to split up later we can do so but for now I'd prefer not. Flitch sounds like a good first stop."
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
"Yes, Hookie, Ixlilton cracks a smile. "I doubt they'll stop smelling of pickle juice any time soon." Turning to the others, Ixlilton shrugs. "The thief it is, then. Let's go."
Milady'

Milady will follow along gladly to see Flitch.
| GM Watery Soup |
| 3 people marked this as a favorite. |
The group travels to Envy Row East. Hookie whistles a tune by the goblin group Pickleback. How did our eyes get so red? he wonders.
Flitch's rundown house is typical of the residences in the area. A poor lock bars the front door. The windows are boarded over, and fragments of a flowerpot lie beneath one windowsill.
Milady'
|
"Well, no one is at home it seems.
Shall we knock? Or should we maybe drop a note?
We do not wish to be rude."
Ixlilton Tenochtzin
|
Ixlilton knocks on the door. "Mr. Flitch, we're here on behalf of your uncle to collect a debt. He's been asking when you plan to pay for those slippers."
Milady'
|
"What a poor lock... I imagine it would be easy to pick, if anyone knew how to do this."
Variel Dardala
|
Variel coughs, "As it happens, I have had need on occasion to enter a locked room, and have the required skills. However, before doing so, I would like to be certain it is necessary/"
+6 Thievery and tools available, but good aligned, so I would prefer not to actually break in unless it's truly necessary, especially given where we are - getting caught breaking the law would be bad. :-)
Milady'

If there is to be a roll, Milady can give a +1 status bonus (from Guidance) and a +1 (or +2 on a crit') circumstance bonus, w. Inspire Competence ; so a +2 (or +3)
| GM Watery Soup |
Hookie circles around to the back of the building.
Hookie doesn't see any tracks leading to or from the building around the back or sides. It seems like anyone who entered or exited the building used the front door like longshanks usually do.
---
Both kicking the door down and picking the lock are of dubious legality, but looking around, there are quite a few minor legal infractions being openly committed.
Milady'

Milady looks around.
And at the person about to act--
Then she Inspires Competence to the person.
"Well, I shall explain how to improve your work. So..."
Performance, trained: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
+1 status bonus to person from Guidance, till end of my next turn
+1 competence bonus from Aid Another as a reaction during the next round
Total of +2 to the person's roll
Variel Dardala

Variel will watch for a moment when it looks reasonably clear, then takes out his tools and tries to unlock the door.
Perception +5 to watch for a good moment, Stealth +6 to attempt to be subtle about it, then Thievery +6 to open the door, plus Milady's bonus.
| GM Watery Soup |
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Variel looks around and waits for the coast to clear, then picks the locks stealthily.
Thievery: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 19
There are actually two checks required to pass. I assume you want to continue, and I assume Milady will use cantrips again.
Thievery: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 22
The Thievery checks don't have to be secret. Only checks where you can't differentiate success from critical failure require secret checks.
A thin layer of dust covers the floors of this sparsely furnished wood-walled apartment. The northern wall bears crude etchings, graffiti, and other odd markings.
If you would like to attempt to decipher the markings, please post your Society modifier. This will be a secret check.

I'll study the writing while others do other tasks. If something happens that requires my attention (like combat), I'll start over afterwards, if it still seems important.
