Today started like any other day. You were spending a month in your individual homes taking a break from your career as adventurers. This was to be the last day of solitude before it was back to work. You had orders to meet your group at a near by tavern. The day passes uneventfully for all but the general(read the spoiler below General) and you all make your way to the tavern were you're supposed to meet with your adventuring party. You don't have another mission as of yet so you might want to spend a little time catching up and trying to decide what to do next.
As you gather together you notice that the general is missing is not present.
You have had a feeling something was up with your daughter. She has missed her last opportunity to write to you which she has never done before. You know being newlywed she can sometimes get caught up on things but...this feels different...more sinister. Unable to shake the feeling, you decided to check in on her. It takes most of the day but you eventually make your way to her new home and that is when your world shatters around you. You find the bloody remains of your daughter spread in pieces across the front yard...well most of it anyway, her head has been removed by what looks to be a rather large blade and you see a note clutched in her severed hand . The note its self is written in a strange language but one you have seen many times and you instantly recognize as Celestial. It informs you that your son in law has been taken into the services of the insatiable queen, Izmiara. It instructs you that your daughter was deemed useless and was therefore killed. From what you've heard about Izmiara you shutter to think what she might be doing to or with your son in law and that thought combined with the state your daughter was left in makes you sick to your stomach. You spend the day trying to get over the rage that burns inside of you and tending to your daughters body. You are late arriving to the tavern and by the time you get there your party members have already arrived. If you want to say anything to them about what has happened is up to you. Please let your party members make a few posts before you jump in.
Lionel Ravenstone |
Rungchak strides into the room. He cuts an imposing figure clad head to toe in a set of wickedly spiked armor. Despite it that, he is almost entirely silent save for padded footfalls. The rest of the party knows that they can only be heard because Rungchak isn’t trying to be unnoticed.
He sits, removing the leering oni faceplate of his armor. His voice is low and rough as he speaks, ”It is unlike a stone to leave the embrace of the earth, and yet the moon hangs in the sky. Just as that is inevitable, so too will the General arrive.”
Ani Lucna |
Ani smiles at Rungchak's enigmatic reply. Playfully offering her own lunar knowledge. More to keep conversation going with the typically unheard hobgoblin than to dispute his point.
"Even the moon waxes and wanes in a predictable fashion. Would it not worry you if the moon waxed when it should wane?"

The server bows his head wuickly at Ani and smiles Right away Miss. Will your usual friends be joining you or will it just be you and your male friend here tonight? He leans in and whispers to Ani "I could bring out some candles and have our bard come by your table if you want a more romantic setting."
Ladim Relos |
With a loud *crack*, Ladim appears in the center of the tavern, seemingly breathing heavily - as if in a hurry. "Ah, Besmara's B*~*!~+s. Funny how you can appear instantaneously, you keep being late all the time.", he exhales, nodding at Ani and Rungchak already sitting around the table. "Unless, ahem, you'd like me to be even later?" A radiant grin shines from the short human's mouth, as he pulls up a chair. "So what's new, and how in the Nine Hells am I on time and You-Know-Who isn't?"
Lionel Ravenstone |
To the server, ”Plum wine, if you have it. Red, if not.” He stares daggers at the server, letting the angry scowl of a scarred, nose-ringed hobgoblin do the talking.
”We had just been wondering that ourselves. I cannot say what has been happening with Ani here, but I have pursued several contracts over this past month. Ah, the thrill of the hunt. Nothing like it. They were even criminals this time. Justice is sweet, and a hefty coin purse makes it ever sweeter.”
DM Mathpro |
"And you sir, anything to eat or drink" the server asks. The night progresses pretty uneventfully as you all talk and catch up. The waiter brings any food and drink ordered and will come by every once in a while to check on you, usually at the most inopportune times or as more sensitive details are being discussed. He seems to have a real knack for it.
A couple of hours pass and there is still no sign of the captain.
Doing a bit of a time jump to get the captain to be able to jump in. Any time now Captain for your grand entrance.
General Claude Von Helreaver |
Late into the night, General Claude Von Helreaver arrives at the appointed tavern. He arrives dressed for war with a dark expression to match, eyes red-rimmed but steely cold in a way you've never seen before. He sits down wordlessly and places a small parcel wrapped in a bloody handkerchief on the table. He stares wordlessly into the distance for a moment before meeting each of your gazes in turn. Finally, he grinds out a hoarse declaration.
"Someone has snuffed out the brightest source of light in my life. I'd like you to help me find her and end her."
He opens the parcel to reveal a slender hand, severed at the wrist, clasping a note. The note informs that Revick Tobar, the husband of Claude's daughter Cinder, has been taken into the services of the Insatiable Queen Izmiara, and that the bearer of the note is now serving the only purpose she deserves: message bearer.
Lionel Ravenstone |
Rungchak drains the last of his wine and slams the cup down on the table, "I am sorry for your loss. Truly. You know well though, that I can find anyone. I would be honored to aid in this endeavor."
Ladim Relos |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Bloody hells., Ladim's eyebrow darts up at the General's appearance. The short man nods, his lips parting with anger at the box. "You've got it, mate." Giving the man a tap on the shoulder, he grits his teeth. "We'll teach 'er a lesson she'll never remember.", he sips his flagon with anger, "Because she'll die before she can forget it." The sorcerer's hands glow with a pale, blue light. "You know where she is?"
Ani Lucna |
Ani will plan to take some time before sunrise to make note of the stars. If needed she will excuse herself from the meeting.
See below. Would it be commune at Ani's caster level of 15? Also, will toss up the various yes / no questions as this bit is clarified.
