Nobody realises that the cultist has moved until you hear him begin chanting...
Square marked on map.

Siegfried miss chance, high is good: 1d100 ⇒ 60

You hear a curse as the cabalist loses a spell after being struck by a dagger and an arrow.

”Nice work!” Luli cheers as his thoughts turn briefly to one of the fallen cultists. ”We’ll block the other door - Lara, don’t let them through this one!”
Concentrate vs DC 15?: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Casting stabilize on Green - concentration check required because Karma is double-moving (I think).

Madame Karma |

Karma’s paws pad softly on the stone floor as she weaves through the pillars. A low growl escapes her throat as she stops in front of the door, next to someone trying to hide themselves with magic.
Double move.

"Hokey smokes! I am throwing into the bull's eye this day!" Siegfried moves further into the chamber, drawing another dagger. He looks around for any further sign of their invisible foe.
Move action, draw dagger, ready action to throw or stab if I can pinpoint invisible guy's square. (attack and damage are the same for the dagger whether thrown or melee)

GM Elberion |

Yeah, dude was doing a noisy chant and then two weapons disappeared where they struck him. Your best guess is that he is the square marked with a yellow ring.

GM Elberion |

Siegfried hits the mark once more but Elrus can only move up You were too far away, double move.

Lara fires off another arrow at the rune-marked cultist, assuming she can see him. Otherwise, ready vs appearance again.
Lucky Point Blank Precise Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

GM Elberion |

Can everyone see the map? This is an awkward space and I need everyone to take actions that make sense for the conditions.
Foe is currently still invisible.

![]() |

Teks doesn't much like the idea of trying to get into close combat with an invisible opponent with his gun, so he just moves up a step, reloads, and readies to fire if he has a good shot at the enemy. Ready a shot in case he appears and moves from behind that hard cover column.

GM Elberion |

The cleric suddenly appears and Lara's arrow ricochets off the pillar beside him.
His baleful chant fills the air.
negative channel: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5) = 13
And a wave of cold darkness sweeps across the room. Those struck feel, more than hear, a cackling madness resounding in their skulls.
Everyone except for Lara suffers this damage. A DC16 fortitude will save reduces the damage by half.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
If the cultist is unconscious, Luli would change his action to cast stabilize on the cultist instead.

Giovanni is wracked with dark feelings. He attributes it to the cabalist and attempts to distract him with some fancy footwork before plunging his rapier into the enemy.

GM Elberion |

Giovanni kills the cabalist. You also realise that the other two were killed when the leader channeled negative energy.
More to follow, initiative is over.

![]() |

Giovanni sheathes his rapier and kneels down to check the cultist is actually dead. He looks over the body for any important items he may carry.

GM Elberion |

He had one hit point left. Giovanni sent his soul to the boneyard.
As the last cultist dies, you realise that a strange, humming vibration had been filling the noise. You only truly realise it was there as it abruptly ends.
There is a moment of silence and then a crescendo of frantic telepathic whispering spews from the gem in the middle of the room: “I am awake! I see you—all of you! My strength grows. Do not forget…” before fading away.
The dead man at Giovanni's feet has some easily identifiable magic items.
scroll of owl’s wisdom, wand of cure light wounds (50 charges), +1 chain shirt, mwk scorpion whip, dagger, cloak of resistance +1
The other cultists are also magically resourced.
Scroll of Eagle's Splendor, Wand of Resist Energy (6 charges)
However, the most striking feature of the room remains the glowing gem in the centre.
There is also a folded, faded, and threadbare banner that bears a charging leopard on a background of tan and black. You might have ignored it if it weren't for the magical aura that hangs over it.
I am assuming that the room will be surveyed with detect magic just to save time.

![]() |

kn history: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Giovanni looks over the materials. I see. These are pre-Thuvian articles. This gem must be the source of all the magical disturbance. Smash it? Or take it back to the Venture-captain?

Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Frowning, Lara looks the room over with the aid of a cantrip to detect magical auras. "I felt something tugging on my mind to come closer to the center of this room a moment ago. We should be wary."
"That is a magical pennon," she says, gesturing at the banner. "From the old Tekritanin League. We should see if we can't find a use for it."
Knight's Pennon of Battle, so heroism 1/day if we mount it to a staff or lance or the like.

![]() |

Luli looks up from tending the the remaining cultist's wounds. "We also haven't found that div," he says worriedly. Karma sniffs the fallen man unworriedly, then barks for her rider.

![]() |

Siegfried approaches the gem carefully. "I am thinking gem is very bad evil. Maybe spirit-div is inside! But will smashing cause freedom or destroy?"

![]() |

”What if it’s one of the sage gems though?” Luli asks, eyes wide at the thought of destroying such a priceless artifact. ”How can we... Hmm...” Slowly he walks over to stand next to Siegfred.
So my thought is that Luli has decent saving throws, a built-in reroll from his revelation, and would be the easiest to restrain should he be possessed or something similar. What would folks think about him touching the gem?

![]() |

Elrus thinks Lucky sounds like the right person to hold the gem...
Elrus states his opinion "I understand your caution Siegfried, but I think our venture captains would be most upset if we smash everything we find. Perhaps we should return the gem to them, cautiously, rather smash a priceless artifact, even if it is maligned by the Div?"

![]() |

Luli swallows nervously. ”Alright, if I don’t look like I’m in control of myself, don’t hesitate to restrain me,” he says to his companions grimly. ”And wish me luck!” Limping forward, he takes the jewel from its stand.

GM Elberion |

Luli has no obvious ill effects from grabbing the gem.

![]() |

Elrus suggests, "Well, back to the lodge I suppose? You seem none the worse for the wear"

![]() |

”It’s...” Luli’s voice is distracted, as though the halfling were trying to speak through a crowd of voices. ”It’s not immediately harmful, at least. It says it ‘sees’ me, whatever that means. I... I think it is one of the sage jewels.” Carefully he wraps the artifact and stows it in his pouch. ”Who would have thought we’d find one here? And I’m still worried about that div that caused all this trouble in the first place.” He sighs heavily. ”Let’s... let’s finish cleaning out this place so we can grab that poor fellow and get him back to a temple for healing.”
Looks like we still have the southern wing to explore if we want.

![]() |

Elrus backtracks, " Definately a good call, we should finish exploring before we report"

![]() |

Luli’s got you covered - go ahead and roll your own healing if you have a wand. Saves time rather than waiting for me to realize someone’s been wounded, lol.

GM Elberion |

Siegfried bravely turns the handle.
Then he gets the key from the dead cultist and unlocks the door.
I am assuming you mean the eastern door, where your token is?
Within he finds a mirror of the western section: cells and rooms with shrines. In a few you find cultist with slit throats who appear to have been murdered in their sleep.
Directly opposite the door you opened is a collapsed doorway that stands over a 10ft drop onto a sloping stone floor that slides down to a cavern wall.
