Lara picks up a suitably shaped rock and invokes a short arcane phrase. The rock begins to glow (she knows the light cantrip).

The air cools as the tunnel leads deeper beneath Merab. Wooden supports shore up the walls in more precarious spots, and abandoned side tunnels show where the crew explored layers of older construction beneath the dig site. Eventually, the tunnel intersects a wall of much older construction than the surrounding area. Sledgehammers and other tools lie outside a hole in the wall large enough for a person to step through that opens onto a large room. The southern part of the room is largely collapsed. A sprawling message in red symbols covers the floor.

Giovanni tucks his glasses into a pocket in his coat. He walks forward with rapier drawn, sure to walk carefully and keep his eyes open.
To aid with that he produces a wand and applies it to himself.

As soon as Giovanni enters the room, the magic symbols on the floor writhe into a spiral, and a telepathic message broadcast by an irritated, deep feminine voice enters your minds. “Pathetic slave! Your base obsession with secrets served its purpose for a time, but you have grown tiresome. And now you dare to turn this obsession against me?! Foolish! You could have served a higher purpose, empowering me for all eternity. Now, for your defiance, you will grow to hate your immortality. You will wallow in ignorance forever, and even I, your master, will forget you.”

The walls are carved from stone and the room is 15ft high. It is cool, dry and completely dark apart from your light sources and the swirling radiance when the runes activated.
The next chambers do not have doors, I am just trying to figure out how to do a simple-ish fog-of-war for them. Technically, people with darkvision can see further but I've gone with roughly the limit of light sources for now.

There are several telepathic creatures obsessed with secrets, such as the powerful nalfeshnee demons and the ambitious doru divs. Given the construction team’s observations, it’s far more likely that the telepathic voice refers to a doru. At least, that’d be better for our prospects here Elrus says with a gulp.

No doors makes it more complex. Maybe I should do two maps. In any case, your light sources mean the skeletons saw you straight away, so if there were a surprise round it would go to them...

Only other option would have been for everything to happen at once - skeletons see us, we see skeletons, telepathic message goes off - better to handle it this way.
”Watch out!” Luli yells as the skeletons start moving. ”Spirits of stone and time, lend us your blessing!” A burst of wind like the earth itself was breathing wafts through the tomb, giving strength and courage to the Pathfinders.
”Now onward, Karma!” the halfling cries.

One of the skeletons, with a blue stain on its forehead, wobbles toward Giovanni. Madame Karma makes a bite at the monstrosity but its shield deflects her jaws.
Then it swings at Giovanni.

Elrus sighs as he realizes that poking skeletons with a rapier is probably not the best use of his time. He moves up and readies to aid the next ally attacking with a blunt weapon.

if anyone with a blunt weapon wants to be where I'm standing, they can object in character as I start to move, and Elrus will stop his movement to let you go there and instead do some dashing swordsmanship on the air while he delays! Just move him back and put yourself there.

It tears a hole in that skeleton something fierce, and Teks begins reloading. The sound in the chamber echoes, and you see cotton stuffed into Teks' ears.
