Holy! That's a lot of damage!
Fort Save 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Fort Save 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
The demon shreds through Goliath with ease as the bear falls instantly into a bloody mess of fur and bone. This falters Charlie as lost memories begin to hazily return. His hand shakes on the whip. "W...w...w..we need to run!"
Charlie grabs his shield raising it front of himself defensively as he looks to cover Tiny's path.

The wounds which appear on Goliath are not only deep, but jagged and ripped. Goliath takes a –3 status penalty to CHA, which remains even if the wounds are healed. The penalty is reduced by 1 every 24 hours until it reaches 0.
The fiend appears only moderately wounded, so Charlie and Goliath opt for a defensive retreat!

Haldan Hadonstar |

Haldan starts humming a tune the sounds very melodic. His voice is magically enhanced as it sounds much more off key when he’s humming his morning tunes. The magic leaves his lips and heads towards the creature.
Sleep, Will save DC17.

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

Huh, AFAICT, demons and fiends don't have specific traits concerning their resistances and immunities. So.... Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Haldan weaves a spell and the fiend falls asleep, still standing, with an awful snore!
Man, Poor Charlie has casts spells in multiple campaigns, and I never fail to resist. Haldan just knocked out a freaking demon with a sleep spell.
The demon is fast asleep, but not for long...

Dendillion |

Dendillion mutes his strings and waits.
I have no spells that are 1 action, so ready isn't an option for me. I'm not going into melee, and I don't want to mess up the plan so.. Skip me

Tiny shakes his head. "His body needs some rest, lets mnake him comfortable for now..."
Don't have anything I can do until the 1 hour cooldown on treat wounds is over.

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

There don't seem to be any other threats in the main room if you want to explore while waiting.

Dendillion |

"Nine bloody Hells, that was a violent mess," Dendillion curses, frustrated by the battle but thankful he's alive. "Let me watch over Chark while the rest of you search the area. The least I can do do is write an ode to her heroics."
For the next ten minutes Dendillion plays through several different chord progressions, adlibing words as he goes along. Eventually he stops, naming the lively tune Demons Make Bad Altar Boys.
"Not my finest work, but it'll do."
Refocus for +1 Focus

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

Anyone want to make the Religion check?
You recognize the hoodless cloak the larger fiend was wearing as the formal vestments of a priest of Gozreh. In addition, the demon has a religious symbol of Gozreh—a leaf with a hanging drop of dew—draped loosely around its neck.
Nearly everything of value in the chapel has been destroyed or defaced. The golden scales are worth 20 gp, and the quasit left behind a crying angel pendant.

"-Tiny-" |

untrained religion?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Tiny rummages as he reports back to Dendillion "Almost nothing of value here, just a nice set of scales and some sorta pendant. I think this town is in a lot worse shape than the mayor was letting on..."

Mumbling Charlie |

Charlie also lays silently unconscious beside Chark. His body pale as Goliath is slumped nearby, equally near death. Goliath gurgles a bit as the bear twitches in pain.

Dendillion |

Bardic Lore (Religion) - Recall Knowledge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
"You know... those demons are wearing attire with Gozran symbols. Were they impersonating clergy? I'm not aware of any stories where demons followed the deity of wind and waves."

Mumbling Charlie |

Charlie slowly gets to his feet. "I will be happy if I n..n..never see a demon again." He looks sad, patting Goliath's still form. [b]"Goliath can't handle this, its gonna get him k..k..killed.

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

Strictly speaking, you can't use Lore (Bardic) that way. This wasn't a Recall Knowledge check.
Charlie: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Haldan: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Chark: 1d20 ⇒ 3
The party susses out what the fiend was wearing. Indeed it's religious paraphernalia seems odd. It certainly doesn't seem random...

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

Additionally you spot something else of note. The demon had a religious symbol of Gozreh—a leaf with a hanging drop of dew—draped loosely around its neck.

Dendillion |

"I'm sorry for the language, but... what in the Nine Hells is going on here? A holy symbol even?"

Haldan Hadonstar |

”Is it possible that this was a curse? Like they were cursed to look like demons?”

Mumbling Charlie |

Charlie dusts his pants off. "Maybe there are more c..c..clues elsewhere." He motions to Chark and Goliath still unconscious. "We need to get them some help though. Get them back to the C..c..circus."

Dendillion |

"Agreed, Charlie. I'm all for solving this mystery, but we take care of our own first," Dendillion says. He then looks over the bear and Chark. "Can we move them? Or should we stay put for a bit and tend to their wounds? I'm no doctor, but if I have to use Chark's healer's kit I will."

Mumbling Charlie |

"U..u..use it. I don't think we can c..c..carry Goliath." Charlie digs around for Chark's kit.

Dungeon Master S - 2e |

It's okay Tiny... try rolling a d20 instead.

Dendillion |

"Well done, Tiny. Not carrying a bear is a big help," he says, though a look of concern for the bear remains. "Can we do the same for Chark? Take all the time you need."
I'm guessing we've got 40 minutes to wait before we can retry Treat Wounds. Proposing we wait it out.
