As the new enemies burst from the ground, Teriq yells something, in a strange language, though judging by the tone, it is more a warning, than any kind of pertinent information. He says what sounds like a prayer, then quickly takes aim, and fires at the creature nearest to Lilly.

Heh, almost forgot about the tongues curse. He's speaking Ignan at the moment.

Extra attack bonus from fervor, swift action to cast a quickened divine favor, then full attack the nearer critter.

Knowledge Checks

Lilly:
This appears to be a retriever, a spider-locust thing the size of a bull elephant; it operates on four legs and can release magical energy with its eyes. Normally they are a construct assembled from the raw, protoplasmic flesh of the Abyss into hideous monstrosities devoid of life, emotion, and the will to resist control. These appear much more intelligent, and based on their shells, you think they are part of the Eternal Hive. These monstrous retrievers are normally tasked to seek out those who dare abandon their loyalties or flee from servitude. Often, the presence of a retriever in a demon’s den is enough in and of itself to ensure the loyalty of the lesser demons. The constructs also excel in tracking down specific objects and returning them to their masters.

They are immune to: all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms), disease, death effects, necromancy effects, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, stunning, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, energy drain, nonlethal damage, or any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects, or is harmless).

Lilly grins and shouts, Abyssal spider locusts, immne to loads of stuff but not, I think, to this. Say hello to the powers of Axis boys!

With that she invokes a spell, bright lines of energy form in the air, creating an elabroate matrix blazing light.

Lilly defensively casts Orders Wrath, it is a lawful spell and so my caster level is reduced by 2. She cannot fail the check. Hopefully the retrievers dont have SR. It forms a 30' cube which should be able to hit the blue and yellow retriever and the rightmost front leg. Given the retrievers are huge I should be able to place it in the air and avoid Favian and his familiar.

SR, yellow retriever, abyss, spell pen: 1d20 + 13 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 13 - 2 + 2 = 18
SR, blue retriever, abyss, spell pen: 1d20 + 13 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 + 2 = 33

Damage vs chaotic outsiders: 10d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 5, 3, 4, 6, 6, 6, 2) = 47
Non chaotic creatures take half damage. DC26 will save for half damage. If a chaotic creature fails the save it is dazed for 1 round. If the retrievers are flying they will then fall, hopefully ending up prone. I still have a move and swift left which will depend on the outcome of the spell.

Favian successfully dispels the acid fog!

Thrag flies up to the giant demon beetle's nearest joint and swings at it with a massive overhand chop! The sound of his adamantine hammer rings out in the canyon as it meets a much stronger material. Despite the massive force behind the swing, the hammer does not crack the incredibly hard shell of the Eternal Hive, and after years of using the weapon, the well-trained half-orc eyes cannot miss the slight deformation in his hammer after it bounces back the other way!

It is enough for the beetle to notice him, however...

The beetle's teeth clamp down on the half-orc, and suddenly he finds himself inside the beetle's mouth, along with Rand! his darkvision immediately picks up the Worm That Walks further down the tunnel... along with a huge, disgusting, slimy surprise!

The beetle continues to batter the soil near Favian and Tothek.

You have to enter the mouth to gain line of sight, or interact in any way with the insides of the beast, sorry. Otherwise everything you do is in the 'outside' world. Think of a creature with swallow whole: you don't get to shoot arrows in its gullet. The only difference here is that the module allows fliers and climbers to enter the mouth if they so desire. There are no light sources going on at this time, hence my notes that Thrag is the only one inside able to see down the creature's belly. I trust this information is helpful.

With multiple meals in its mouth, and with the ongoing onslaught that is Rand and Favian, the Eternal Hive decides to clamp its mouth shut and gulp down some of its problems, throwing its massive head up towards the sky! Well done on the light spell Favian! with the mouth closed it would have been now absolute darkness everywhere including teeth/mouth area!

giant demon beetle vs. Rand, Lilly, Favian and Thrag:

Gulp! retriever Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Fail; slides into stomach into darkness beyond dim light

The giant demon beetle's thrashing causes some injury to Thrag, who is bounced around the inside of the monster's mouth. Lilly loses her footing and slides down the beast's gullet and into its vast stomach... which happens to contains a massive pool of acid! the insidious abyssal ichor seeps through her armor and clothing, and immediate pain and burning sensation wracks her entire body. Based on my interwebs research, life bubble wouldn't work against that; it is more of the resist energy domain because life bubble doesn't specifically extends to protection against energy damage. Sorry Lilly...

I think life bubble might actually protect us from immersion in the acid. It allows you to breathe underwater and in a vaccuum by provide a shell of atmosphere, that suggests it doesnt allow liquids to make contact with you when immersed?

Knowledge Checks

@Lilly: Unless you can point me to a ruling online, or wish me to seek a ruling by the VC, what I found was a no from the threads I found, as it is acid/energy dmg that's the domain of resist and protection from energy; the spell can't be everything to everything; it already gives you air to breathe and prevents gases/vapors/poisons; if you want to dip your head in the acid I'll rule you can breathe under the acid and gain total concealment as it's basically pea soup; that would allow you to cast a spell freely as per water breathing and casting spells rules in the Skulls and Shackles player's guide, however under the acid you won't have line of sight or line of effect to other creatures or PCs. Please note that I could be dense here and rule that acid doesn't necessarily behave like water as per the rules, since acid is a type of energy dmg in this game in the same sense as a 'pool of fire' or 'pool of electricity' or 'field of cold' would be; @Rand: waiting for you to confirm that crit.

As for the acid/life bubble thing... if it were acid fog, it would work! Perhaps we just need to vaporize the pool? =)

Knowledge Checks

Rand's mighty blows finally get the better of the giant demon beetle! with an enormous groan, it collapses to the ground, and its mouth lolls opened, vomiting forth a large amount of acid forward! The crash spills out a pool of acid in a 20-foot radius around its mouth (both outside or inside) that deals 2d6 points of damage per round to creatures beginning their turn in these squares; i.e. same as before for those inside the mouth, but now it also applies to those touching the ground outside.

Out of the darkness, the horrific spider locust snaps its mandibles at Lilly as she escapes, but her armor saves her and prevents the creature from fulfilling its dark unnatural purpose...

Teriq you're up; mouth is opened (do note the area of black tentacles though, which applies to fliers above it)

Scarab Sages

NG Elf Oracle 15

Seeing the giant creature fall, Teriq can only assume that the others, inside its gullet, managed to deal the killing blows. He can see nothing from where he is, so he quickly flies closer trying to get a better line of sight on what is happening.

Full 70' move to current location. Not quite inside the mouth yet... can he see anything to shoot at from there? The map is a little chaotic at the moment, so hard to visualize what's going on there. =)
Still have a standard remaining

Note: Teriq currently has 60' darkvision (from elemental body)... and gives off however much light a fire elemental gives off.

Knowledge Checks

Darkvision? you can see the left front leg of a retriever sticking out of some fog, and you can also see the Worm that Walks. Question: how do you shoot a bow in elemental form? just curious... I'm sure there's an enabling shennanigan at work, but my primitive understanding of those polymorph effects is that your gear melds into the new form, is it not?

Scarab Sages

NG Elf Oracle 15

Nothing particularly shennanigany... just a polymorphic pouch... unfortunately, the change did subsume his armor still... as that was not in said pouch. Thus why he had to umd the mage armor wand

Teriq will fire a single shot at the worm-creature.

Single attack with +5 bow, haste, divine favor, deadly aim, PBS
ranged attack vs worm that walks: 1d20 + 28 + 1 + 3 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 28 + 1 + 3 - 3 + 1 = 38, for 1d8 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 3 + 6 + 1 = 24 damage.

Is the worm thing on the map? Or out of site back down the beetle somewhere? I may have been premature adding point blank shot on that... take 1 off both sides if its further back.

elemental polymorphs are wierd. Because Elementals don't have a 'set' list of gear they can't use, it's really up to the specific form they are in (some elementals can take the shape of humanoids and use weapons and armor, for example).
