'Sunny' |

At the loud noise Sunny becomes even more entangled with the person from whom they've been seeking succour.
"I rilly dun't be likein' this place..." She whispers.

DM-Camris |

Bryson tried to fish out whatever it was with the lance, but couldn't quite hook it.
Eventually, he just reached in with is bare arm to grab it and pull it out; his nose wrinkling with disgust at the slime covered water.
Revealed is a thick stone rod made of red marble and a captiol "T" cap at one end. The shaft of the rod is carved with raised cartouches and sunken symbols, all in the distinct Olmen symbology; jaguar heads, rings through noses, feathered serpent heads, etc.

Marius Hawk |

According to the map, the closest person for entanglement would be Marius.
"I can't say I blame you, Sunny," Marius said, doing his best to be comforting while maintaining at least some situational awareness. Now was probably not the time to remind her that there was something following along behind them waiting to pounce.
He did return the hug, "Still, we'll get through it I'm sure. Staying positive is the key."
The irony was not lost on him that he was advocating positivity to the most naturally positive person in the company. He definitely wouldn't be sad to see the back of these tunnels.

'Sunny' |

Sunny is greatful for/to Marius as her nerves and jitters get the better of herself in thee 'dark' times.
"Aye. I iz a more bein' at home in'a jungles or tha' waves. Bein' all in'a dark an'a dimness in't fer tha' likes a me..." She admits in a whispered, subdued voice.

Bryson Deepwinter |

With the room searched, Bryson deems it as safe as it will get and casts Light.
"Come in." He growls out. "We rest here for 10 minutes 'fore moving on." He offers the magic rod and spear for Marius and Burian to inspect.

'Sunny' |

Greatful for the rest Sunny flops down with every one else on the stone floor. Though she's quite glad to be moving on again.

Bryson Deepwinter |

Bryson chooses the chamber past the throne.
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (13) + 21 = 34
Something catches his eye and Bryson reaches for it, giving it to someone else if he thinks it not immediately dangerous.

Burian's eyes emit a pale glow as he inspects the spear and rod.
He murmurs "some minor enhancement..." as he sets the spear aside, and reaches for the rod.
"Many minor enchantments.. a tool? a key of sorts.. or part of an arcane mechanism? "

DM-Camris |

Bryson notices a glint on the throne under the pile of ancient bones.
Brushing aside the detritus, he carefully picks up a necklace made of interlinked triangular gold plates. Each plate has some symbology engraved on them.

DM-Camris |

Ascending the stairs you find they end at a broad platform overlooking a wide chasm.
Two primitive stone statues flank the balcony, their impassive countenances caked with mildew. The chasm itself drops away into a black gulf of swirling water.
Two bridges span the chasm, exiting the room through separate double doors on the far side.

Bryson Deepwinter |

Bryson passes the necklace back as he continues onto one of the bridges. He moves with caution looking all around, down over the edge, and even up at the ceiling.
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30

'Sunny' |

Sunny's inquizitivness sparks as Master Bryson's discovery is handed around.
Appraise:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
"It's... heavy..."
Distracted by the shiny, her thoughts are miles away now from the darkness and chasm before the group.
Perception:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
"Uhm..."

DM-Camris |

Up close, you can see that the mold and mildew covers up a lot of savage damage done to the surface of the statues by weapons; slash marks, pock marks made by missiles and flakes of stone broken off by blunt weapons.
The water below the bridges is marked by the swirls of hidden currents, and the flick of pale fish swimming below the surface.

DM-Camris |

Bryson felt it first. Not the clicking of many feet, but the rise in the savage part of him made him want to scream a challenge.
Then...
The monstrous head of a gargantuan centipede hove over the rim of the bridge, its antennae quivering as they sought out the source of what attracted it.
Seeming to percieve Bryso, it lunged to attack!
Bite vs Bryson: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 for a possible 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 = 14 slashing damage, plus Poison (Fort save DC15 or 1d6 dex damage, 1 save).

Marius was not a great fan of giant multi-legged bugs, and so his decision to blast the one bothering Bryson with fire might perhaps have been an overreaction. Then again, perhaps not. How was he to know just how dangerous a given native creature of the Isle was?

Somehow, instinctually, he makes a connection with the over-large creature. "We ain't no meal for you." Bryson has Vermin Empathy rather than Wild Empathy. Not using the ability, but thought it was thematic for him to 'learn' of it.

Your slash does some damage, but doesn’t hurt it much being so big.
Feet firmly planted on the ground, drawing strength from the stone, Ghirrak's fists hammer away at the centipede with blinding speed.
Ghirrak’s fists pound in a blur; targeting the same place, he punches deep into the innards of the creature. Gore covers his arms up to the biceps.
Sunny pads closer. The better to see what's going on with her freinds and to peer about into the gloom of the next large, open space.
"Here? Is that water there, down below...?" The tanned Elf's nature comming to the fore. She looks to Ghirrak and Burian. Sunny is sure that is salt water down about 20 ft from the bridges. Looks like some fish in there as well.
Burian steps back and heals himself with a faintly glowing hand.
Although his next action was more considered, it was perhaps still a bit much for the threat at hand. Nevertheless, Marius sent a crackling thundercloud to bedevil that same centipede.

Marius’ thundercloud flashes another lighting strike, but again, the creature is flailing around so much it missed.

[ooc]Finally the cloud connected, lighting up the centipede with shocking power.
Then the ram shaped force field crashed into the creature, lifting it off its feet and slamming it into the wall. It collapsed onto the bridge and then slowly slid off of it and into the waters below.
The battle is over.
