This is a tier 2-4 module granting 3XP and 4PP upon successful completion. If you're still deciding which character to bring I recommend favouring a lvl 3 over a lvl 2.
Golthwur Strath |
Player name Lysle
Character name Golthwur Strath
Character PFS number 90900-9
Faction Dark Archive
Day job roll The miserable mage strokes his beard.
"Day job!?" he responds. "Day Job?!"
"Why, sir, do you seek to insult me, Golthwur Strath? Master of Magic? Scion of Sorcery? Potentate of Power? I would think not! For surely, even the most mundane of men knows that a mage's pursuits of matters arcane and wondrous e is neither restrained by the hours of sunlight nor a task undertaken merely for a wage!"
Slow or normal xp track Normal (at least, as "normal" as Golthwur can be.)
Unfortunately, Golthwur is just shy of 3rd level (by 1 XP). I'll be updating his profile to reflect his more recent adventures in the next couple of weeks.
Jeskit Thersis |
Player name: OG3
Character name: Jeskit Thersis
Character PFS number: 175185-7
Faction: GL
Day job roll: none
Slow or normal xp track: normal
Jeskit just hit lvl 3. I'll update in short order.

I tend to lean away from playing a pathfinder module at the bottom end of the sanctioned tier range - most modules assume a level up (or more than one) between the start and the final encounter, but you don't get to do that in PFS - so if you do play at level 2 the risk is greater.
Gronkh looks pretty tough for a level 2, but it's up to you in the end.
Golthwur Strath |
Golthwur is fun to play, but the aged mage is not the best equipped for survival (though he would rage against any who hinted at such!).
I am fine playing a level 4 pregen, particularly if it is necessary to increase the survivability of not just Golthwur, but of the entire party.
GM supervillan |
I don't want to put you off playing your chosen characters :)
When I played this module we had a lvl 3 swashigator, my lvl 3 divine verminous hunter with mantis companion, my wife's lvl 3 monk (basically a Sajan pregen clone, very slightly tweaked), a level 2 switch-hitter ranger, and a level 1 pregen warpriest. The latter was a bit of a screw-up, because the player brought an illegal character but he was brand new, and the mistake wasn't spotted till we were several hours in; I think he brought his PC from his home game. He should have been given a level 4 pregen, not the level 1. This party survived and was successful. With 4 level 3s and 2 level 2s you should be OK, but the level 2s will naturally find it slightly more dangerous.
Byron Milibanke-Grears |
Player name: GM_MG
Character name: Byron
Character PFS number: 203433-15
Faction: Dark Archive
Day job roll: Profession Librarian: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Normal progression
Yagajimoro Iodoma |
Player name Uktar
Character name Yagajimoro Iodoma
Character PFS number 100685-17
Faction Silver Crusade, of course
Day job roll too dumb (seriously)
Slow or normal xp track Normal
Yagaji is a bright & shiny Nagaji Paladin of Iomedae...and he's dumber than a bag of hammers.
(Not certain if profile is entirely up-to-date: he's played one more scenario IRL, and need to check ITS, etc. But most of it should be accurate. )
Golthwur Strath |
With 4 level 3s and 2 level 2s you should be OK, but the level 2s will naturally find it slightly more dangerous.
Hmmmm. It looks like, with Golthwur, we would have 3 level 2s. On top of that, Golthwur is an absolute coward who often contributes little to combat (though he would vehemently deny it!).
While a squishy coward may be fun to play, I don't want my PC choice putting the entire party at risk.
Any suggestions on a pregen? Looks like we have a couple front liners and a caster. Do we need a healer? Should I bring 4th-level Kyra?
GM supervillan |
Official start date isn't till August 26th, so you should have time to make your alchemist.
Current party roster:
Golthwur (wiz2)
Byron (wiz3)
Yagajimoro (pal2)
Jeskit (bldrgr3)
not-gronkh (alc3)
angela (inv3)
Sedoriku hasn't checked in yet with Angela. This party looks like it might be doing a lot of book-sharing ;)
The module is written for 4 PCs, so you're looking OK I think.
Yagajimoro Iodoma |
You should play Golthwur and let the chips fall where they may. Either we'll succeed, or we won't. As long as we have some fun along the way, it matters little...
Angela Isafira |
Player name Sedoriku
Character name Angela Isafira
Character PFS number 108507-4
Faction Dark Archive
Slow or normal xp track Normal
Day job rollProfession (Secretary): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
The miserable mage strokes his beard.
"Day job!?" he responds. "Day Job?!"
"Why, sir, do you seek to insult me, Golthwur Strath? Master of Magic? Scion of Sorcery? Potentate of Power? I would think not! For surely, even the most mundane of men knows that a mage's pursuits of matters arcane and wondrous is neither restrained by the hours of sunlight nor a task undertaken merely for a wage!"
The small halfling gives Golthwur's outbreak a single raised eyebrow before she sets down her pack, pulls out a small note pad. She writes a small note on the first page and tears it out before removing a single manil folder with the wizard's name written on it. She then takes out a small contraption and affixes the note to the inside of the folder with a small metal barb. She puts the folder away and gives Golthwur a professional smile.
Sorry for the wait! I was traveling and didn't check Paizo for a good while there! But I'm back, though it looks like we're having a delayed start anyways!

There is now a link to the slides for the scenario at the top of the page, and in my profile header.
I borrowed heavily from slides prepared by GM Jakuri, which has saved me a fair bit of work.
Abraham, when your character is ready please add details to Slide 1.
I am on UK time, but my most frequent posting time is late night. On September 8th I am due to have minor surgery - outpatient only, but I might still be recovering from sedation on the 9th, which might slightly delay the 'official' beginning. I'll aim to get an introductory post up in the week though.

I was just going to post something about it being one more week before we start! Lol. Here's hoping the surgery goes well!
Yagajimoro Iodoma |
My apologies, but I have a family wedding this weekend, and I'll be driving for 12+ hours on Thursday and Sunday. Obviously, it'll be difficult to post every day, so please do bot me as necessary.
GM supervillan |
No worries Yagaji - speaking of botting, could you all (if you haven't already) put some basic Bot Me instructions in your profile please? I do like to keep things moving and will normally bot in combat if you haven't posted 24 hours after your turn comes up.
GM Valen |
Wow, not many players have openly ticked off Angela before. Nicely done. :D
I do hope you meant "PCs" ticking you off and not this player. If not, then I apologise because I certainly did not mean to offend or appear to "sabotage" the party's chances at success. That is not my intent and if I cross that line, please let me know and I will adjust the PC.
As a PC, Golthwur is an unrepentant jerk, but I don't wish to act like one as a player. If the way I play Golthwur makes someone uncomfortable or otherwise ruins ani,
Golthwur Strath |
Sorry for the double post. I was preparing a post, while waiting for my son to get ready for school. When he needed help, it looks like the post got sent inadvertently.

Golthwur the PC acts like an unrepentant jerk, but, as a player, I want to be helpful, considerate and fun. If I can improve my play in any way on those fronts, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Ahhhhh! I meant PC! Player character! You are playing Golthwur beautifully, and I love it! Sorry for the mix up. I may have taken the character part out somewhere in editing blah.
GM supervillan |
Golthwur is fun :) I am liking how this party is shaping up!
Gameplay update later today.
Golthwur Strath |
@ Angela - I figured as much, but knowing that communication can be imperfect, I'd rather be overly cautious than risk making anyone uncomfortable. Thanks for the encouragement!
@ GM supervillain (and all) = This is a good group! Great roleplaying of NPCs and PCs alike! I'm really enjoying this run and eager to see what happens next.
Gronkh Maha |
Yep, I'm also super enjoying Golthwur and haven't been offended by anything he's said or done! This group is highly entertaining. Doing my best to keep up, though Gronkh is one of those PCs whose personality I haven't quite "gotten" yet, beyond that he's in it for the gold.
Golthwur Strath |
FYI, I will be at a local con over the weekend, so my posting will be limited. I will try to get in updates by phone when I can, but any longer posts may have to wait until late night or early mornings.
Golthwur Strath |
I do appreciate you all indulging me, giving me great characters play off of, and allowing Golthwur to be Golthwur, but I don't want to do so at the expense of the game.
I'm ready to move on to the mayor.
GM supervillan |
My posting will likely be a little less frequent for the next few days. I'm moving house (and country) on Monday + Tuesday.
Gronkh Maha |
This is the slow part of the adventure. The pace will pick up ;)
No worries at all, though I can't figure out if we're missing something obvious or have overlooked some clue or location that we should be attending to. It's tough sometimes, with the pace that PbP games unfold at, to keep track of all the story details.
Angela Isafira |
Sorry for the lack of posts there! Life got very busy for a few days and then once I finally got things settled down I had no clue where or how to get back into this campaign. Sorry if I caused any worry or concerns! I should be back for a good while (though the 6-10th of November will be supremely busy for me again, though I am more prepared for it, this last one was a bit out of the blue for me.)
GM supervillan |
I am travelling for the next two days. I may be able to get a gameplay update done this evening, but otherwise it'll probably be Thursday.
GM supervillan |
Being a module, this is going to run longer than the official end of Gameday. I will therefore report the game, and make boon rolls, before the end date. I will report any changes after the end of play.
Angela Isafira |
Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days, work was crazy. I worked about 2.5 days worth of overtime over a 6 day period (with a full day off in the middle nonetheless). I'm exhausted but I should be getting back onto a regular schedule soon.
GM supervillan |
Boon rolls! a 19 or 20 wins a boon
Angela: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Byron: 1d20 ⇒ 19
GM supervillan: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Golthwur: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Gronkh: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Jeskit: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Yagaji: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Boon for Byron! I'll need your email address for reporting please.
GM supervillan |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Also, the boon is randomised: which boon for Byron?: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Boon number 2 is "moment of glory"
GM supervillan |
It's possible we may have a few more "one to one" spoilered conversations to come - if this does happen I will try to give a bit of commentary for those of you not directly involved.

A summary post - what has happened so far, and what you have learned:
hope that's of some help :)
Gronkh Maha |
Yes, agree this is very helpful, especially in the PbP context where it can be easy to lose track of what's going on.
I confess I'm somewhat stumped. Clearly something is amiss here, but short of waiting until the Mosquito Queen carries poor Byron off to feed her larvae, I'm not sure what we should be doing that we haven't already tried.
Yagajimoro Iodoma |
Not the best game to play my stupidest PC...
GM supervillan |
You have some choices to make now.
Byron is already outside with Shel.
Angela is following - but is a distance behind, having lost sight of the couple.
Byron's Message spell has let Jeskit know what direction they're going in.
Jeskit needs 1 minute to don his armour hastily.
Gronkh needs another 3 minutes to get his armour on - he can shave a minute off that if he gets someone to help him.
Whilst there are no stables shown on the maps, I am a firm believer in accommodating companion critters as much as possible: I'm going to say that there is a stable next to the manor house. Going to get Horace, waking him and saddling him up will take 4 minutes - if you don't mind going bareback you can do without the saddle and be mounted up in 2 minutes.
Golthwur has his book out.
Yagaji has yet to declare actions: he has a chain shirt, so might have slept in it.
Essentially, you need to choose whether to chase after Byron or not - and how long you spend on preparations beforehand.
Angela Isafira |
Hrmm on a semi-related note, has Anglea's extracts expired? This is one of those grey areas; extracts last for '1 day' after they are prepared and need to be re-prepared everyday. Depending on how one defines 1 day, it could be they are still usable as a full day hasn't passed, or could have lost their magic as we have reset for the day. Setting an unusual prep time (say 8 p.m. sharp, every night, right before bed) would be helpful for defining this, but I have left it nebulous on Angela so this would be GM's call I believe.... Though really only Shield would help her in combat here.
Golthwur Strath |
Golthwur will protest and loudly throw insults if not allowed his "alone (with a spellbook) time", but I won't let him split the party. If all go, he will reluctantly and disgruntledly(?) follow.
