As far as the guard is concerned, it is left vague on purpose, I'm going to say they have them fooled, very charismatic to have the guard side with them and the guard doesn't know everything that goes on, otherwise the game would be who pays the guard the most if they were bribed and the module is suppose to give you money, not make you lose it all. You'll find evidence on the group soon enough.
Halzunet and Edwin don't get 8 hours of sleep on at least one of the days, see below
Sleep deprevation

Elvar will do anything to please the group and is ready to fight and win even if he accidently kills someone in the process.
The sentinel battles him. Krant walks you both into the arena gives you each a sap and sends you into the opposite walls. Don't worry, we won't let you die if you decide to go lethal. If you have any weapons, you can use them, anything is fair game.
Elvar speaks I aim to please our God, they gave me a home and everything else, hail Razmir
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (17) = 18 Sentinel

He then puts a flail in the middle of the arena. The arena is 35 feet in diameter, so one move allows you to reach the other guy.
if you snuck a dagger into the arena, give me a sleight of hand dc 10. You may use it and the cult won't care.
Sentinel is up
Alarien and Nevendo can still make their checks for the day.

GM I didn't fail more than one int check. Or did I? So no sleep deprevation for Edwin.

If a PC fails more than one check, he cannot get 8 hours of rest that night
I didn't fail more than one check. I failed only one check. One check is not more than one.

Oh, right, I missed the more than part. No extra checks needed for Edwin and Halzunet
Alarien Amankiir

At every mealtime, Alarien scowls, recalling the perfidy of the Cult and feeling very keenly the absence of her missing katana. She nonetheless stoically performs her tasks and continues to look for an opportunity to reclaim Alarien.
Her stoic resolve even manages to keep her awake during the boring liturgies.

Sentinel summons forth his Ectoplasmic weapon and it takes the shape of a long red almost bloody looking whip.
Sentinel then moves in for the strike!
Since it is one on one, I am going to roll 3 rounds of attacks to help speed this up.

The Sentinel gets to him in one round and takes him out in two. He is the equivalent of an acolyte, so he can't nearly do enough damage to you on his first turn.
The rest of the heroes do their job.
After two hard days worth of work they give you back your weapons. They turn to the divine players in the group. It will take several days, but would you like us to make you a symbol of Razmir gold plated on a 1 inch diameter necklace, or would you prefer to buy your own? We will make it look really cool and give it shading if you want.
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
Do they have some way of knowing who is divine? I assume that none of us have revealed the extent of our skills.
Hal nods. "Oh, yeah, I'd like one of those, please."
| DoubleGold |
Good, so we do have some divine people in the group, or maybe you just like holy symbols? But you know the rest of you can have one too. Outside you go, we are going to give a performance
You go outside where they give a speech about how great Razmir is.
You are then asked to put on a martial arts display, though not attacking each other, just attacking your weapons in the air and you are all excellent.
After that the priests are asking the crowds of people for donations. Perception checks please
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
Hal shoots some stationary targets with his crossbow. He goes out of his way to be obnoxious, so as to not inadvertently sway some innocent person in the crowd. "Yup, those of us who worship Razmir, we're better than you, and better than everyone you care about. Bunch o' losers." From what he can tell, this sort of behavior won't be considered out of line by the true Razmirans.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
So ... Have we seen enough of the building to map out the best escape route? Or identify areas that might have secure materials, that we're being kept out of?
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
If I can give a pacing suggestion: If you set up a slide where we can all record our Perception rolls, when you need a perception check you can just copy/paste it into a GM screen spoiler, and then let us know the result. It'll save a whole cycle of us individually rolling perception, and you can just tell us what we see. Just a tip. We could also put our Initiative there, so when combat is triggered you can roll it for us all.
| DoubleGold |
I'll add some slides in the morning
The Sentinel notices that while the priests are asking for donations, they are pickpocketing some people who aren't willingly giving to force donations. He also notices the priests can be easily distracted from their pickpocketing duties if you put on a talent show of weapons and martial arts.
The Sentinel
|
Sentinel has seen injustice and decides to work against it. He lets the others know real quick through silent whispers.
"Who will join me in mock combat to keep the priests distracted?"
The Sentinel
|
Sentinel takes out his goblet and pours himself a glass of wine. "Now behold folks. You will see a demonstration of training and finesse that has seldom been seen before." He raises the goblet to Edwin as a toast, then gulps a large swirl of it. Thrusting the goblet outwards, the wine begins to swirl into his ectoplasmic lash.
"Let us begin!"
He swings the ectoplasmic lash at Edwin to get some intense interest from the crowd, and hopefully the thieves.
Going to do non-lethal attacks which should buy our team time to act against the thief priests.
@Edwin: I can heal you afterwards with my 1st level spells.

Hal glances around to see if any city guard are in the area.
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
I got a 28 on my Perception, so can I see what they are taking? If they took a pocket watch or distinctive money pouch or something, that might be the sort of thing we could use as evidence against them. I will also try to identify one of the brothers doing the pickpocketing and keep track of him
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
With the performance completed, Hal waits to see what the "brothers" instruct them to do next. Assuming they head back toward the temple, he walks up alongside one of the brothers doing the pickpocketing and says, "Nice situation you got here. Listen, I think Razmir's got big plans for me. Want in on the action, if you know what I mean."
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
"I meant I want in on the action, if I can help. Just to keep in mind for next time."
| DoubleGold |
Ah got it, will do. as they respond to Halzunet.
You contact, Reginar, from the other day meets you outside and draws you around the corner. There are 3 priests outside and and a black robed person named Eraghthis in front of the temple and they allow you to wander off. That's it spread the word, be back here in 20 minutes.
Your contact leads you inside his house, unless you don't follow him. How is it going? Find evidence against them yet? I want to hear how you're all doing so far.
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
Hal shakes his head. "They are crooks, clearly, but no idea how they are influencing the guard. Honestly, I can't even tell if these people believe this stuff or not themselves. We basically have been working at manual labor. We need to find a way to explore more of their building."
Nevedno de'Morcaine
|
This group is obviously a leech draining the life of the rest of society. But so far, we have only seen evidence of petty crime. And fairly incompetent at even that. As Hal said, we shall need to find a way into more secure areas.
| DoubleGold |
Ah, well I have an idea to get more people in there and possibly gain info. Also you should probably take off your masks when talking to me, it weirds me out. You can put them back on when you go outside. You see there are three priests outside and all wearing masks and robes and nearly impossible to identify. They are unarmed too. He takes you to another room and shows you four people. Now these three are the same size and weight well at least 98% the same. The priests will enter houses if asked, especially if there are recruits pretending to join, and inside this house others won't be able to see what is going on. The only one armed is Egarthis the guy in black robes. And this guy as he points to the fourth guy is about his height and weight. Are you all thinking what I'm thinking?
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
Hal lifts his mask up. "Hold on ... Why didn't you come up with the beat them up and steal their clothes plan before we got drugged and enslaved for half a week... But, yeah, I guess it might work. I have seen no evidence that anyone in there uses passcodes or anything, so they would probably get away with it. What are you going to do with the cultists you are holding?"
| DoubleGold |
Tie them up and question them, don't worry about accidentally killing them, we just need at least one alive. And I didn't come up with that plan before, cause I just now caught onto the idea that they wear robes and masks at every performance. And because I need reassurance they they ever do take off their mask.
You all know from being there a couple of days that they never take off their masks except when eating and groups will eat at different times and they all go to different rooms at part of the day. In lameness terms, it could work, that they could get by for several days before someone notices.
Hopefully they don't have to talk. From what you have seen, many member of the cult speaks very little, and when they do it is all about business about how to collect money for the temple or what the group is going to do next. The cult rarely if ever seems to communicate with each other at large, but groups within the cult communicate with each other.
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum
|
Hal frowns. "We are trying to get evidence that they're criminals. Saying 'Hey, sorry we accidentally murdered a couple while trying to kidnap them' seems like it might work against our case when we finally bring this info to the magistrate or whoever."
Edwin Towerfall
|
"Before I kill someone I need serious healing. Where is Sentinel? Sentinel you promised me that you will heal me! So what are you waiting for?"
The Sentinel
|
"Mmmm ofcourse. Hold still." Sentinel then uses his psychic magic to patch up his allie.
Cure Light Wounds *3: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (3, 7, 7) + 9 = 26

Edwin Towerfall

"Thank you, Sentinel. You know, you hit hard!" says Edwin to Sentinel.
"OK I am ready now, let's do that."
| DoubleGold |
Hal frowns. "We are trying to get evidence that they're criminals. Saying 'Hey, sorry we accidentally murdered a couple while trying to kidnap them' seems like it might work against our case when we finally bring this info to the magistrate or whoever."
Oh, accidentally murder a few. Anybody we accidentally murder we sneak out in a garbage bag, possibly on the back of a wagon, the cult is unlikely to bother such people. As we leave town we dispose the bodies in the nearest river and don't speak of it. The living ones will be unconscious when we dispose bodies, so how would anybody but us know? But six armed men vs three unarmed and 1 armed man, you can probably just knock them out and not worry about murder.
As you are all up for the idea. Okay, go get the three priest and the black robed man and tell him there are plenty of people in my house that want to join the cult and come in.
Edwin Towerfall

Edwin exits the house. Then he approaches the cultist on the street.
There are plenty of people in the house that want to join the cult. Follow me!" then he enters the house again.
Halunzet "Hal" Methrigum

Hal begins to respond, but upon seeing the Paladin of Iomedae on board with the plan, closes his mouth.. o O (Maybe there is some insanity drug in the water around here. The Pathfinder Society seems little better tham the Razmirans. I may just go back to living in the forest when this is over.)
He stands quietly in a corner, hand casually on his crossbow.
| DoubleGold |
When he sees Hal is about to object, When I said we, dispose of the bodies, I didn't mean you have to be involved in it if that clears up your conscious just a little.
