Thanks for accepting me! Checking in now and will post shortly.
Still experimenting with avatars so this one may or may not be final.
EDIT: rolling starting gold
5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 4, 5) = 26
Nice.
EDIT II Hah, I see we only start with d4 items anyway!
EDIT III: @Erisa/Milady/Danior - wow. Thank you for posting something so very personal and illuminating. I have nothing whatsoever to contribute to that conversation, but I have read it and am very grateful you posted it.
...and for avoidance of doubt, Jassminder is NOT here for romance (she has trouble with simpler concepts, such as "friendship") - she's here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And Golarion hasn't invented bubblegum.

Malarra Rodan |

Welcome Jass.
I am good at capping this at 8. I am also good with a hard botting rule for characters that haven't responded in 24 hours (at least during combat... out of combat I would increase it to 48, given we can usually just retcon scenes and reactions with them using the magic of PbP.)

Miladγ |

Nah, the DM is supposed to dictate and resolve character action, that's a contract we've all entered into. My issue is when a player assumes the action of another player or speaks over them to push their way about how their character should behave (especially speaking over or assuming the actions of a woman or nonbinary person). imo, there are times when a DM can breach the established "this is okay" contract but i don't think we'll see it from you.

Saiya Atarangi |

No problem here ether. You made it clear from the beginning that this AP is a bit harder on player agency than most of them. I have no issues giving up some control in exchange for an awesome story. (And if I do ever start to have a problem with it, I'll let you know.)

Danior |

@Samy, no problems here; I expect the GM to dictate actions to some degree in any game, especially a horror game. It’s unnerving to be the first one eaten by the fog but I trust you. ;)
Glad to have ya, Jassminder. Very very excited to have a paladin alongside an evil character in this campaign, it often makes for some delightful roleplay opportunities.
I agree that eight is probably our max capacity here.

Heh. Hopefully our DM will be relaxed about the "don't associate with Evil characters" rule that paladins have been stuck with since forever.
Happily, the archetype I have doesn't get the detect evil feature (which actually fits with Jassminder's general lack of insight into people). So we should be good morally ambiguous :-)

Malarra Rodan |

Heh, worst case we can have Malarra play a quasi unbiased mediator... given she is neutral ;)
Word of warning though, I take that to be more the result of apathy toward laws and morality than say something like this.

Jassminder Shah |

Done, I think. Still finalising gear but most of the rest of the crunch and stat line are (or should be) in place.
Samy, happy to talk FR deities at a convenient moment :)
@Malara, that's my take on Neutral alignment as well. The 'no strong feelings one way or another' doesn't make for great RP.

Malarra Rodan |

I've settled on a format for the under-name tagline. If you would format yours as follows, please:
Race (Subrace) Class (Archetype) from Region | HP x/x | AC x | Perception +x | Campaign Trait
I don't need gender, level, touch or flatfooted ACs or saves.
Mind if I keep initiative in there for ease of reference or would you rather I remove it?
Edit: Also I think gender is getting pulled from the field for it... Which leaves a conundrum because I always fill out that field for my own reference, but you don't want it showing... so... compromise as a simple F maybe?

"Vermilion Vixen" |

@Samy,
Do you mind if I do this:
Race (Subrace) Class (Archetype) from Region | HP x | AC x | Perception +x | Campaign Trait
...and when wounded, this: ♥️7/11
It's what I do in other PbPs. Reason: I tend to play on a phone and nowhere near a computer, so I rarely have an opportunity to update HP as it gets depleted in combat.
(That's also why I made a Google Sheet for my character sheet. I can update that over the phone.)

"Vermilion Vixen" |

@Matsu,
I seem to have caused confusion. VV was asking permission to carry, not carrying without consent. Maybe you gave it in game and I failed to notice, or you thought I picked you up without waiting for a response.
Could we, now that we seem to have been warped to a new location, play it as if we're both running? I have a feeling downhill leads to an acro check or something, in which case you're probably better off not being carried. (It could lead to insta-death, too. Not ruling out that we went the wrong way. Or *I* did, since you can choose up if not carried.)
...
And if you *want* her to be carried as we run downhill, I'll go along with it. Your call.

Jassminder Shah |

OK, had some time to look at the FR deities in more detail.
Thinking of Ilmater - following him helps Jassminder with her understanding of herself. In Ilmater's light, Jassminder's inability to feel emotion in the way that other people do turns into a strength: she can face hardships that other people would (literally) run screaming from and come out the other side physically battered, but mentally still enduring.
(Plus, he's like the avatar of the Tortured Crusader archetype!)
Let me know what you think (this is open to anyone, not just Samy)

If you want to keep Init in there, okay, but put it last after the CT, so something like Campaign Trait | Initiative +x
If you want to keep the F there, okay, but then everybody keeps it so I won't get confused by different formats. :) So new version:
F Race (Subrace) Class (Archetype) from Region | HP x/x | AC x | Perception +x | Campaign Trait | Optional

Vermilion Vixen |

No, not the heart! I mean like I add OoC text in the posts because I can't update the profile.
I do use the ♥️ To call attention to it, but HP 7/11 works just as well.

Jassminder Shah |

Jassminder Shah wrote:(Plus, he's like the avatar of the Tortured Crusader archetype!)Ilmater would *definitely* be very flavor-appropriate for a suffering paladin. Definitely a good choice IMO.
Great, glad that's sorted!
...although it's important to note that Jassminder doesn't see herself as suffering. In her mind, she's the one staying calm and making rational decisions while everyone else is running around like a headless cockatrice - or, worse, staring dopily into each other's eyes (and what's with that, anyway? You've seen one pair of eyes, you've seen them all).

That works and thanks for the compromise (sorry to everyone else for the inconvenience... it just bothers me if I know the answer to a block and I don't have it filled out... if that makes sense).

No problem. I like this compromise since it gives me a place to link the character sheet, which I will need to reference often.
I set up my sheet to do the math for my power attack rolls every level, including changing unarmed/improv damage dice, class ability at Lv.5, etc.

Okay, I seemed to have missed a lot in one day - sorry, but pride weekend and out of town friends called. I’ll catch up on the massive number of posts over the next couple of hours at work and post something soon.

Jassminder Shah |

The Vixen's dead head lolls to the side, and its jaw falls slack and a voice no one recognizes -- definitely not the Vixen's own voice -- echoes forth, as if from down a long hall. The word “me” resonates and repeats from deep within.
The Tatterman lunges forward, bringing its inhuman sharp-toothed maw right in Malarra's face, breathing a foul stench like the pits of Hell as it seems to bizarrely smile as it draws right up against Malarra, and its hands jolt upwards to grab her neck faster than the eye can blink. With a groan that seems like the wail of an undead, it sinks its sharp claws into Malarra's neck and wrenches violently, *violently*, shredding the meat of her neck and starting to tear the drow's head clean off. With a powerful yank, it finishes the job, separating Malarra's head from her body, causing the body to slump to the ground.
The Tatterman plays with Malarra's severed head, turning toward Matsu and making Malarra's jaw go up and down as if speaking, but no sound comes forth.
...does anyone else get the impression our DM is enjoying this part a little too much?
:P

pride weekend
They had that last weekend in my state. We were out with friends and our daughters and theirs, just for the city's attractions, but we met a lot of kind strangers. One man gave the girls free roses from his guitar case after my daughters and I caught his escaping balloon-flower. The kids loved seeing women in rainbow outfits and some with rainbow parisols.
We had fun. I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

I'm getting a kick out of it too. (Would become unfunny if we had to roll new characters.)
While I hope to interact more before I go offline for a bit, I'm enjoying the visuals as I read along, wondering if anyone will survive the Tatterman.

@Erisa, happy pride! My city had our first pride gathering in at least 7 years this weekend.
7 years?! Wow. I'm glad it came back.
We had our 6th anniversary Sunday. 1st anniversary of being engaged. We were the little pride hookup that could as we refer to it :D
It helped that we were good friends for 3 years before ;)
You have managed to survive due to default running... ;)
Yay me! Combine that with:

I'm looking forward to the 30+ messages I've missed.

Okay, statline updated with desired format.

Me too! That's living in the deep south for ya. And congrats to both of y'all. ;)

Jassminder Shah |

Nonononono, I didn't mean that at all - I love it. I'm just having a bit of fun at your expense :-)
(I did just die without a saving throw. Fair's fair)
...It reminds me of a theatrical production of Struwwelpieter a few years back: the narrator also acted as compere, and served up gleeful little side commentaries as we went along - "And so another young life is pointlessly snuffed out" was a particular gem.
I get the same sense of gleeful mayhem from your commentary on what's happening (that's intended as a compliment, btw)
EDIT: @Erisa, congrats on the anniversary! It's ours next weekend, which is also (by coincidence) when we have Pride where we are.

Saiya Atarangi |

Personally I'm fine with it. I suspect my character is next on the chopping block, and I give full permission for you to go into as many gory details as you want.
(Assuming it isn't bothering other players.)
Joining in the congratulations on the anniversary!

I'm loving it, and am honored to have two dead body scenes! O' course the most egotistical character spells/says "ME" in death!
It would only be not fun (for me anyway) if PCs permadeathed as the butt of a joke. If it's something we can come back from (delusion or death+revive) as the same characters, it's all good fun!

Yes, I didn't want to drag it on for everyone either.
BTW, Excellent in media res and the gruesome was great - not too often do you get to do that in FRPG.
