Gervase Goldhawkë |
Ugh. I think my choice of words was unfortunate, GM.
Gervase waits for the apprentice to move …
Gervase was referring to Gellion’s move in Round 1, so it wasn’t a readied action. (ie Gellion has changed position since Gervase’s round 1 turn, so she’s charging him immediately her round 2 turn comes up).
Having re-read my post ~7 hours later, I totally get what you’ve interpreted though, GM.
As such, I am OK with you making the call on the timing of the charge.
Soddy Daisy |
That picture of Gellion makes him look more, "Oh dear, I may have gotten a bit carried away with my demon-bug abominations teehee" than "Blargh death death death fear me blargh".
Equinius 'Quinn' Bikakpu'unde |
My wife and I are heading out tomorrow for an 8 day camping trip. I highly doubt there will be internet access at Mount Adams. So please just proxy play my character. I should be back Saturday the 10th. Well Saturday evening. Have a good week without me, try not to get the kid killed.
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Gellion's clownish expression reads to me like:
"Bellisir, please punch me in the face."
PS: That hook fly pic is truly gross. Good stuff, GM!
Soddy Daisy |
To date myself a bit:
Bellisir (outside the warehouse w/a megaphone): "Hello, Gellion! This is Sweepstakes Bellisir, come to bring you great news! You have been randomly selected to win an unlimited supply of one million punchesintheface on behalf of the Pathfinder Society! So, to claim your prize, just blindfold yourself and walk out of the warehouse and get ready to receive your free million punchesintheface. Don't delay! Get outside right now! My friends and I are waiting in the bushes! I mean... uh, for to give you the million punchesintheface!"
GM Lorenzo |
There are some important loose ends for the party to tie up, but there are some important loose ends to tie up. Some of it affects the Chronicles for your PCs.
As soon as you've done all that, I'll post the link to the Chronicles. If you haven't yet done so, please double-check your info on the slides.
Soddy Daisy |
GM, was Soddy's CdG attempt on the giant fly not enough to kill it?
GM Lorenzo |
In my haste, I missed that, Soddy Daisy. Addressed the oversight in the Gameplay thread.
Kyklónas |
I am so sorry. We were at a different place than I thought we were D:. Been too busy, and I apologize.
Soddy Daisy |
It's okay! I (the player) just saw an opportunity to be silly and took it; no actual shade or anything being thrown :)
GM Lorenzo |
^Exactly^
It’s happened to everyone. Just having a little fun with it.
Kyklónas |
Ohh its fine lol. I just should remember to read everything before posting.

This might be a dumb question GM but how do you get some of your images to paste to slides with what I'm assuming is a transparent background? It makes for a more pleasing presentation but I've yet to figure out how to do it ;_;
GM Lorenzo |
It's not something I know how to do. When I search for an image, sometimes it just doesn't have a 'background'.
But I'm also not very tech-savvy, so there might be a way to do that, and I just have no clue how.
If you're referring to the images of Gellion, Majara, and the mayor, I lifted those straight from the pdf of the scenario.
I click on the image, highlighting it, select 'copy', then go to my slide and hit 'paste' (Command+V).
Soddy Daisy |
Well darn, I was hoping you had some insight into some sweet slide hacks that I wasn't aware of :)
Normally I just directly copy from the PDF as well but usually end up with some janky background fuzz when it comes to character art. Probably just depends on how the individual PDFs are laid out as to whether you can copy without a background or not.
And I'm sure there's probably a way to give lifted images a transparent background but it might be more trouble than it's worth. Ah well.

You guys have inspired me to do some research on this.
I found this link for Microsoft Word® which I managed to make work with a bit of trial-and-error.
Step 1: Copy and paste the image you want into a Word document. I used the image of Gervase from the Paizo avatar library. (PS: I’m using Word 2013 on Windows 8.1)
Step 2: Double left-click the image and the top ribbon changes to “Picture Tools” Format
Step 3: On the top ribbon, single left-click the far left “Remove Background” icon. This highlights the background of your image in pink and adds an internal dotted ‘fence’ on the image.
Step 4: Drag-and-drop the tiny squares of the fence out to the limits of the image (or wherever you want them) and single left-click ‘Keep changes’ on the top ribbon.
Step 5: Single right-click over the image and 'Save as Picture' in a convenient spot on your network/hard drive.
DONE!
I will say some images work better than others. Those with a simple white background seem to work best for me.
Soddy Daisy |
^Don't have Word (atm) but I will keep this in mind for the future - thanks!
Also, I'm a little confused; are we waiting on the GM or is the GM waiting on us? :)
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Soddy, I've uploaded a couple of 'Soddy Daisy' images with the backgrounds removed to Slide 12 of our game's slideshow.
You should be able to copy/pasta those into other google slideshows.
Soddy Daisy |
Awesome, thank you!
Normally I'd be pretty loathe to buy Office 360noscope or whatever (which seems to be what Word is bundled into nowadays) because I wouldn't get much use out of the majority of the product, buuuuuut....maybe I'll check out the free one-month trial.
My slides must be aesthetically pleasing, dangit!
Equinius 'Quinn' Bikakpu'unde |
Back from a week in the woods. Weather stayed perfect and bugs were not too swarmy.
Soddy Daisy |
Welcome back! Glad you had a good time :)
GM Lorenzo |
Sorry guys. I had to prep a scenario and run it for my local F2F group, and provide some emergency babysitting for my new granddaughter Liliana, while my wife Jackie was out of town for a few days taking care her own mom in Chicago. Time to post was rather limited the last couple of days.
Soddy Daisy |
It's all good; figured you were probably busy.
GM Lorenzo |
Please have a look at your Chronicles here.
Let me know if I need to make any corrections.
I'll start the next chapter later today.
It was a pleasure having you at our table, Kyklónas. Happy trails.
Boom Sticks |
GM, how would you like to introduce Boom Sticks in play?
Soddy Daisy |
My chronicle looks good GM; thank you!
I will attempt to get Soddy leveled when I get home tomorrow morning but if not, I'll get her leveled up Tuesday evening.
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Boomy's been working undercover as a brussel sprout in the kitchen of the Witch's End :D
☙
My chronicle also looks good, GM! Thank-you again for running.
Until next time, Oriklad!
❀
I HATE buying stuff just for one handy tool too, Soddy. There may be other applications out there that I’m not aware of.
Someone at Flaxseed might know. GM Rinaldo has a lot of graphic designers in his family. He might be worth PMing.
GM Lorenzo |
Boom Sticks, the Society has sent you to Saringallow as a replacement for Kyklónas, to whom you are to deliver a missive summoning him back the Grand Lodge at the request of Lady Gloriana Morilla, a matter of supreme noblesse oblige.
Let your imagination fill in the blanks, ideally introducing Boom Sticks in a way that instantly conveys his appearance, attitude, and personality.
Bellisir Reycyne |
Everything looks good for my chronicle sheet. I'll try to get my character leveled up Tuesday morning as well. Tomorrow I've got to do GM prep for the Skull & Shackles home game tomorrow night.
Orkilad, after a few F2F tables of PFS/SFS play together, it was fun to play in a PbP game with you for the first time. Good luck with Kyklonas and hope he's able to find more PbP games to adventure in!
Boom Sticks, it's good to meet you and I'm looking forward to playing the next installment of Gallows of Madness with you. Welcome aboard!
GM Lorenzo |
No problem, folks, if you need to take a day or two.
Let me know when you're all set. In the meantime, you can engage in some RP in the Gameplay thread when the spirit moves you.
Kyklónas |
Thank you all for having me!
Soddy Daisy |
It was fun, Kyk! Thanks again for joining us :)
Also seems I had the time to get Soddy leveled this morning after all :D
(Remind me that I'll need to Slow Track the next chronicle so Soddy won't outlevel Part 3!)
Boom Sticks |
Regarding marching order - I can just replace Kyklónas, or we can shuffle about a bit if you prefer. Boomy is mainly a reach fighter, using a lucerne hammer. He does have Combat Reflexes, so being at the front is advantageous for generating AoOs, but fighting from second rank is possible too (albeit with cover penalties).
Boom Sticks can also use his blunderbuss or throw chakrams, and is passably decent at hitting so long as he's not aiming at something in melee and behind cover.
It looks like the monk and the shifter are dedicated melee - so I don't want to push them back when Boomy has other options available.
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Gervase didn't level, so I just had to add some purchases to her profile and ITS, GM:
- masterwork alchemical silvered lucerne hammer
- antitoxin
- cold iron spear
- cold iron arrows (20)
- wand of longstrider (2 PP)
She also sold her longspear and spear
Bellisir Reycyne |
I leveled up Bellisir. Feel free to look it over and make sure everything was done right.
Updated hit points, saves, BAB, assigned skill ranks, changed bonuses to hit with all weapons, took Dodge for my 2nd level monk feat, and have added Evasion to my class features.
Spent 2 prestige points to get a CLW wand (after seeing its effectiveness in the first adventure) and bought 20 shuriken for ranged option. Didn't really have the chance to do more shopping as I have less than an hour to write an IC post to catch up on all the action.
GM Lorenzo |
If there's something else you would have purchased, Bellisir, just let me know.
GM Lorenzo |
I like the post you made, Bellisir, covering the last couple of days between chapters.
Shows/reveals character development, adds a bit of story to the acquisition of your new skills and equipment.
Well done!
Annea Clivana |
Annea purchased a Wand of Cure Light Wounds (50) for 2 PP and a Pearl of Power (1) for 1000 gp.
GM Lorenzo |
Friends, I'll be busy through Sunday volunteering at Dragonflight in Bellevue, Washington.
I'll try to post, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time.
I'll post tomorrow morning for sure.
Please check in from time to time to see if I've updated the Gameplay thread.
Larry
Equinius 'Quinn' Bikakpu'unde |
During the down time Quinn did a little shopping. Having seen the need for cold iron and alchemical weapons Quinn bought himself
1 cold iron dagger
1 cold iron spear
2 alchemist fires
2 acid flasks
1 antitoxin
1 antiplague
In addition, leaning on his new prestige within the society, Quinn procured a wand of cure light, for 2 PP, and purchased an official pathfinder insignia, the wayfinder.
The young man also took advantage of the appreciation of the small town and had Peterello help with a courtier's outfit, Drummady craft some boots, 4 tasty trail rations from Gunty, and an antler wand from Illdris.
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Boss, my bad.
I re-read the Cover rules and found the phrase:
Cover and Attacks of Opportunity: You can’t execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with cover relative to you.
So I think I was wrong about Gervase ‘threatening’ purple.
However, she can attack purple now because it’s her turn.
If I’ve got this wrong, please let me know.
GM Lorenzo |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I swear I thought Gervase had been in the square marked 'SHE', so I thought purple would provoke an attack from your lucerne hammer when he exited the square he currently occupies. (Cover would not have been an issue, because he's already out of the woods, when he provokes.)
If any of that was an error on my part, I apologize.
*EDIT* Ah, I read your Gameplay post, and realize you moved SW of the square marked 'SHE' after your standard action. So, yes, you still get the earlier AoO. Please post those attack/damage rolls.
GM Lorenzo |
Bellisir, the sleeper hold was one round. If you'd like to move and hide, please include a Stealth check in the second round's actions.
Bellisir Reycyne |
Ok. Stealth roll made and second round actions done. I think, though, this would be a great time to post the meme with the cat with all four paws and tail sticking out from under a box it's trying to hide under. *snicker*
Gervase Goldhawkë |
Ugh. That sounds horrible. Were you GMing, Annea?
Which scenario?
