This Tagline Template offers a basic setup for your own PC's PbP tagline, providing vital information at a glance. Please, modify/adapt it to your own PC's crucial needs.
Please ensure you have an updated stat block associated with your PC and any companions or familiars.
For those using Hero Lab, it's quite simple.
Under the "File" tab, select "Output Hero Statblock." In the pop-up menu, select the "BBCode" tab and click on the "Copy" button.
In your PC's Paizo profile, click on the "Edit My Profile" button. Then paste it into the "About [Your PC's Name]" block near the bottom of the page.
Got some questions? Post them here in the Discussion thread.
When you're ready, use this thread to introduce your PC to the GM and to the party. Once we've settled on the PCs in the party, you can make an in-character introduction in the Gameplay thread.
Some Basic Rules of Engagement (ROE):
OOC Text: When mistakes are made or clarifications are necessary, just let us know in the Discussion thread. Let's keep the ooc text in the Gameplay thread to a minimum.
Conditions/Effects: Regarding penalties or bonuses/buffs/debuffs from conditions/effects, please, players, indicate any bonuses/penalties to attacks, damage, etc separately--to remind the GM and other players.
For example, [dice=Attack, Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Fatigued]d20-1+1-2; d8+2+1-2[/ dice].
Animal Companion/Mount/Familiar/Eidolon: Please create a separate alias for it, especially if it will act on its own. Also indicate its Perception and Initiative modifier, as well as your own, on Slide 2.
Initiative: Animal Companions/Mounts/Familiars/Eidolons will have their own Initiative results, unless the PC is mounted on the creature. They can act independently or you can opt to have you and your companion act at the same time on the lower of the two Initiative results. The one with the higher result will be considered delayed, but not flat-footed. (If mounted, the mount acts on the PC's initiative.)
Miss Chance: I prefer to roll miss chances as the GM; if you roll it, please use a d100, where a "miss" is less than or equal to the percentage chance.
GM Red checking in. I've really been looking forward to this one. I've run this module before, and am excited to see GM Lorenzo's spin on it :)
I have to paste my sheet in and finishing writing my backstory, all of which will be done by the end of this weekend at the latest. Promise!
Hello, Lady L checking in!
I've passed the campaign link along to my two invitees but it might be a bit before they check in since one is still at work and the other is currently at PaizoCon until ???
Also, are we on track to start this Tuesday or Tuesday June 4th? I ask because I'll be out of town this upcoming Thursday through Sunday and probably won't have much time for updates.
I think the only person I don't know is our GM, but I'm Rowyn Starr, Lady L's brother and I'm checking in.
I've got a Ki Mystic monk that I'd initially made for another module PbP, but things didn't work out and so I'll be playing him for this module PbP.
I think the only thing to do is to polish up his backstory a bit and I'll be good to go. Of course, feel free to look over my profile and make sure I'm not making any goofs, but I feel he's good statwise.
And ditto on the dates that Lady L posted as they will affect me, too.
Lady L- Jan here (well not really, but you know what I mean!).
Annea Clivana is a Varisian Witch hailing from the woodlands of Ustalov (northeastern Shutterwoods). There Annea learned the lore of the forest, herbalism and spellcraft from a coven of druids and nature-orientated witches. Believing in the primacy of the four elements, as aspects of nature, Annea was drawn towards the raw power offered by a yet unknown elemental patron(s). She has charged herself with the protection of natural world from the deprivations of extra-planer entities and the undead.
How do you want Annea to handle her familiar, which is a hawk? I had planned on doing some role-playing in this regard, but I also don't want to slow up game play if it can be avoided.
Equinius 'Quinn' Bikakpu'unde
Please call me Quinn. I would prefer to never be called by my first name Equinius, and I even dislike being called by my last name. Thanks!
Quinn is an adaptive shifter, who is running away from his parents and at least initially is using the pathfinders to see the world and expand his mind. He is an angry young man, but has no trouble following the guidance of older more mature party members.
As for all that, this is my first play by post so bear with me a bit.
Welcome, Quinn! Glad to have you aboard :)
Tyndyn Annea's Familiar-Hawk
I create an alias for my familiar/companion and make separate posts for them, when the spirit moves me.
Whenever Tyndyn is acting independently, like attacking, delivering a touch spell or flying reconnaissance, aseparate, individual post is helpful for the GM and the other members of the team to visualize the action in their minds.
Though I've set up the campaign and posted the 'mission briefing', I won't advance the action beyond that until next Tuesday.
If you're able to post and wish to introduce your PCs to one another or ask the mayor questions in the Gameplay thread, please do, and I'll reply as I'm able.
I know we have some players new to PbP, and this will give them a chance to work some of the kinks out.
Thanks, GM. Work's been kinda hairy starting off (and my home internet is currently out) but I'll try and get a proper intro up for Soddy when I get a chance :)
I AM SO SORRY!!! Hi everyone, Oriklad here. Let me just go ahead and post and what not. Playing a ranged kinetisist that will become a kinetic Knight.
Hey folks, I'll be heading out of town to DieCon19 and won't return until sometime late Sunday night/early Monday morning. I likely won't have a ton of free time for posting but I'll do my best to check in on the Gameplay chatter at least :)
I'm back and rested and have spent the requisite time with loved ones who missed me (the weirdos) while I was away on my con adventure! Thank you for your patience :)
Day Job (Profession: Herbalist): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Equinius 'Quinn' Bikakpu'unde
No day jobs for this kid, I no longer get my allowance and there are no nearby zoos that would want a menial laborer.
Replaying for no credit! Just the first part I should get credit for.
I just realized that my opening post in the Discussion thread didn't include all of my usual links to useful PbP tips.
For players new to play-by-post PFS, please check out some time-tested resources:
The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge
Painlord's Advanced PbP Play
Doomed Hero's Guide to PbP Gaming
GM Damo's user profile offers excellent additional guidance and tips.
Rule of Two
Designed to reduce dithering, this rule suggests that after one character has suggested an action (or course of action) and it is seconded, that's what the party does and the GM should go along those lines. The other players are still welcome to post other actions, but the GM may assume that the seconded action is where/what the party is going/doing. This helps keep momentum moving AND reduces the stress on the GM on knowing when to proceed.
Shapeshifting (especially for Quinn)
It happens a lot. Druids, spells, lycanthropes. Things turn into other things. So make an alias for your alternate form. Nothing like being able to bust out a picture of a big red dragon when you cast dragonform. Bonus points if you make a character sheet with the abilities and adjustments for your alternate form in your alternate alias.
Finally entered my details in on Slide #2, and here is my day job roll.
Craft (Tattoo): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Sorry for being gone for a bit. Busy weekend with GF's family and running games. Will start to post. I will just try to roll checks that I can and do nothing much else, if that is ok with the GM.
@Kyklonas - Even though I understand you're trying to hang back a bit on account of having played this before, you can still (if you like) interact with the world and the other characters. Might help to keep you feeling engaged with what's going on :)
Yep. I've run this before (it's actually my favorite module) and I'm basically acting like I don't know anything. If a key decision were to come up where I knew what each outcome would result in, I would hang back and let the others choose.
Sorry about not keeping up with posting as well as the others. I had no time for posting anything yesterday, and this game looks like it's going to be the most active of the three games I'm in as far as gameplay post activity.
I also come back and there are a bunch of posts. I will be more active, and mostly just play the character and make checks after others have made it, before results are given. Its also my first time replaying something on PbB, so just a bit new to me. Usually the go-getter since I am on Paizo every morning at work.
Everyone gets free healing... you get a cure light wounds and you get a cure light wounds... and you too! You get a cure light wounds!
LOL... in real life!
Hee! Witches are fun and flexible enough with their hexes that it makes up (imo) for them being prepared casters.
(I've grown to really dislike playing prepared casters. Spontaneous casting or bust because I'm lazy and don't feel like trying to juggle spells every dingdang day!)
My two witches in active play (one PFS, one not) are very fun to play :)
No cultural reference, just scroll down to the section on names :)
I have three vine leshies (why no, I don't have a problem at all) and Soddy is probably the uh...least 'human-like' in terms of how she generally behaves and reacts to the world around her.
Willow Grove is the most 'human-like' of my vine leshies, if a bit hyper, while Calamitous Zu is somewhere between the two.
I am having a blast playing this character! When I get stuck on how to play Annea... I just channel my 17 old daughter and it seems to work at as I had envisioned the character the whole time!
I just wanted to ask if we are going to have a short period of time after this portion of the module to re-skin our characters before officially applying their level 2 advances? I know I want to make a couple of small tweaks to Annea before locking everything in at level 2.
Hey everyone. Gonna be busy tonight and tomorrow, and possibly most of Sunday cause of Free RPG Day and... Other things. I will be back and at them on Monday, and I do apologize for the inconvenience.
Enjoy the weekend, Kyk! :)
Happy Father's Day to all you dads, grandpas, step-dads, godfathers, and father-figures out there! Hope you have a fantabulous day today!
If you (general you) have reason to find today sad rather than joyful, I hope you're able to have a good day today just the same. Hang in there, okay?
For everyone else, Happy Sunday :)
No worries GM; sorry to see Nicodemus go but I'm in no rush and am happy to wait patiently until we find a replacement :)
When you're ready, use this thread to introduce your PC to the GM and to the party.
Thought I’d better introduce myself in Discussion as well.
Thank-you for the invitation, GM Lorenzo. I have met our GM IRL and PbP with him and Lady Ladile in another PFS game on these boards.
I live in a town fairly isolated from TTRPG, and PbP is my main outlet. I have been gaming via this medium since late 2012. I love in-depth character exploration and tactical combat.
As for Gervase, mechanically she is a simple switch-hitter ranger. At level 2.1, she is currently more effective in melee and her go-to tactic is ‘power attack with a longspear.’
Personality-wise, she is something of a ‘nice girl’ without being sickly sweet. As an only child brought up by a single-parent, she prides herself on being resourceful and organized. She does have a fairly wide streak of mischief and loves a joke.
I look forward to getting to know you all and contributing to the fun!
