That actually just misses the CMD to escape. The Croc's base CMD is 26 but enlarged, Vs Grapple, and hasted it's 30.
The Croc maintains his hold and manhandles the second jabroni.
Grapple (rage, haste, FBB): 1d20 + 20 + 4 + 1 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 20 + 4 + 1 + 5 + 2 = 52

Ushaka, did you include all your bonuses? You get +2 to hit and damage for freebooter's bane and +4 to hit instead of +2 for flanking with The Croc

![]() |

I did not include either of the freebooters bonuses. Thank you and my apologies, I know how frusturating it is when people ignore your awesome buffs.

GM Kate |

The Professor launches another bomb! Which still hits because lol dragon touch AC.
Fort save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Dragon saves, on the other hand...
Nevertheless, the Croc and Ushaka together take the dragon turtle down.
Assuming Ushaka stops once it's unconscious, you can leave it alive with the nonlethal damage that the Croc did.
The Professor notices that the orb is pulling much more strongly now.
Ushaka, in inspecting the damage to his ship, notices that when the dragon turtle tried to capsize the ship, a panel popped open, revealing a long-forgotten smuggler's compartment. Inside, you find a large onyx, six very old bottles of wine, seven potions, and four scrolls.
Up ahead, you see an island! The orb's path will take you right next to it, and you see a crowd gathering on the shore.

![]() |

Lys pulls herself up out of the water and back onto the ship. "Good job. I wasn't much help. Croc remind me not to get in a wrestling match with you ever."

No need to beat an unconscious turtle.
Ushaka laughs at the panel "This ole ship is full of surprises."

GM Kate |

Let me know if you want to stop off at the island. The crowd look like they are all undines.
The Professor thinks the wine probably isn't good anymore, but each bottle would be worth about 50 gp to a collector. The onyx is quite valuable: about 1700 gp.

![]() |

The Croc scrambles up onto the deck of the ship again and flexes while the rest of the party eventually joins him.
"The Croc spots some of the Millions of his fans on that island. They might know a thing or two about those couple of jabronis that just tried to steal the key from us."

![]() |

Any relevant rolls to see if we know anything about these undine?

![]() |

Shonne hops back abroad.
"Well?"
The professor will identify all the potions and put them in his handy haversack.
He will also appraise the wine and the onyx.
It is very kind of you to claim all the treasure and save your fellows from falling to any latent feelings of greed they might have, but Shonne wouldn't mind the invisibility potion. ;)

With Alchemical Allocation the Professor can reuse these potions (or let other people reuse them), but if Shonne really wants the invisibility, she can have it. Also, there are some scrolls that might be best in Shonne's possession, so "claiming all the treasure" is a lie.

WINKIE FACE! WINKIE FACE! Gees, mice are so dang literal. And that ability sounds really cool assuming folks are near enough and there's time to make use of it in an emergency. And if it's not an emergency then we can always pull our resources together and drink the Professor's backwash.
And sure she'll take the freedom of movement scroll if no one else can easily use it. She'd still need to make a CL check.

Winkieface wasn't there when the professor replied. ;-) Also in case of emergency Shonne could always use her bonded item and cast invisibility herself. >:) Also, if/when we're going underwater invisibility isn't as good as normal anyway.

![]() |

Ursahla, do you want to know which ones are single?
Is this a known tribe? Are they generally friendly to visitors? To other undine? To non-undine? I am certainly willing to approach and talk but I'd like to know if they are going to try to kill us, capture us, or warmly receive us. Some of that might be Sense Motive, but some of that might be knowledge (local) or maybe knowledge (planes) or heck maybe even knowledge (religion) if there is any visible iconography.

GM Kate |

The Professor and Ursahla both know that Undines are extremely common in this area, thanks to a lot of marids nearby. This looks like a pretty small settlement: too small for you to really know by reputation. They don’t exactly look happy right now, but you can see by the fallen buildings that the seismic activity must have the island too.
You can see some symbols of Gozreh around.

![]() |

"I say we head to shore and see if we can help. That's the direction that the orb is sending us, correct?" Lys is trying to dry out her hair from the swim.

"I say we head to shore and see if we can help. That's the direction that the orb is sending us, correct?" Lys is trying to dry out her hair from the swim.
"Actually as far as I can determine, the orb's path is leading us along the island, not to it. It could just be a red herring."

![]() |

"There might be clues to be had."

![]() |

Ushaka votes for talking.

GM Kate |

It seems like most people want to talk, so I'll move you along to the island.
A small, solitary island rises up from the ocean, with sandy shores and dense green foliage. Several large trees look to have fallen recently. A few dozen small structures made of wood and stone indicate the island is settled, though several of these have also fallen.
A group of humanoids with blue skin, clearly undines, have gathered on the shore. One of them marches straight up to you, a suspicious look on her face. (Art on Slide 4!)
"What did you do?"

![]() |

"We are explorers come to discover the true history of the Monastery of Unbreaking Waves. Let it be known that no man nor beast will stand in our way of uncovering history. If you wish to render aid unto us, then come forward, but if you intend to try to stop us then I suggest you turn back and go on your way as we go on ours."
To be clear, Ursahla wears her natural undine guise (which serves as her vigilante identity) when traveling aboard her ship and would still be in that guise now.

GM Kate |

"How dare you? You have put my people in danger, messing around with whatever magical nonsense you made that earthquake with! And now you tell me to walk away when six people, including my wife, still haven't returned from that blasted temple? You are an undine! How can you watch your fellow undines endangered by your search for history and treat it so callously?"

![]() |

“Hello, I’m the professor and these are my friends, who will happily intriduce themselves. We’re explorers. We’re currently following the direction this orb is poining us to. However bringing the orb here seems to have some unforeseen side effects. It was never our intention to bring harm to anyone or anything. If you would allow us, we’ll gladly help you in any way we can!”
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40

![]() |

"So what is your plan? Stand here and wait? What good does that do? Why are you here and not there trying to rescue them? If you truly value the missing then perhaps your best and only hope for them is for you to step aside and let open the temple. The keys to history are for the valiant to possess and it appears that we hold all the keys."
In case it was missed, yes, Ursahla just called her a coward for standing around here while her people are trapped somewhere else.

![]() |

"How incredibly myopic of you, Professor. I would never consider one who shows such disloyalty to her own people one of my kin. I have offered to go into the temple in her place if she cannot bring herself to do it, but I will make no pretense that she can dissuade us."
As a Besmaran, Ursahla holds loyalty to crew as an utmost tenant of her faith. She considers the fact that this woman is not currently at the temple frantically trying to free the trapped undines to be a severe breach of loyalty.
Ursahla steps back. Content with the admonition she has given and the offer she has made. She has no intent of conferring further unless directly addressed.

"I think you are jumping to conclusions. Although six of her pack are missing, that doesn't mean she should leave the rest of her pack unprotected here. It might even be that the six that ventured to the temple were the strongest of the pack."
The professor turns to the woman again.
"Can you please explain everything that has happened. Don't leave out any details"

It seems like most people want to talk, so I'll move you along to the island.
Technically, Shonne wants other people to talk. She just observes from the back until such time as something she considers pertinent materializes. And that's what she does.

GM Kate |

She seems to relent at the Professor’s words, but her eyes bulge with fury at Ursahla’s. ”Did you miss the part where my wife is missing? Of course I want to be out there searching! But I’m the leader for everyone and I can’t leave the rest of the town while there’s still danger from whatever idiotic magic you all have been playing with!”
As if to prove her point, the ground rumbles in an aftershock.

![]() |

Ursahla turns back to the undine and when she speaks again, her voice is soft, no longer tinged with anger. She gestures out to the sea where here ship is anchored.
"Do you see that? That is my ship. I am the captain of that ship. It's leader. Yet I am not on that ship right now, but my crew is not panicked nor lost. They have been trained to be able to run that ship without me. A good leader trains her people to not be solely dependent upon her. They should be able to get along without you for a time. I sense you have much to learn. Perhaps you are new or were never given the opportunity to learn yourself. You have placed those who are in no immediate danger above those who are. The missing are the ones who need you the most know. Your wife needs you most now. But the magic or whatever it is is here and not going away. We are taking our key and going to that temple. So again, I offer you the choice: help us or stay out of our way. Whatever you choose, we will do our best to try and rescue any of your people we may find."

![]() |

Ushaka somewhat surprised by the acrimonious turn the conversation took stands back for now incase he has to play good captain.

![]() |

”The People’s Champion will find out what happened to your people”, the Croc adds during a lull in the hostilities. ”But first you have to tell us everything you know about what happened to them. If those candy-ass jabronis were responsible, the Croc will personally make them pay for it.”
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

![]() |

Lys steps forward, and in a soothing voice says, "I'm sorry that your people have been trapped. I'm not sure the orb caused it since we just arrived. Either way, we want to make it right and help you. I can understand you being frantic. Have you begun a rescue mission yet? We're pretty good at that type of thing. That won't endanger any of the people who are currently safe."
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

GM Kate |

Remendi's face finally softens. "The problem is, everyone who can breathe underwater is already out there. Most undines can't, you see. The six of them have been learning old moves from the ruins of the monastery. I can tell you where it is. They should have returned after an earthquake like that, but they haven't."
There's a loud crash as a building collapses, and people scatter.
"I have to take care of things here. Please bring them home. Oh, you might need some help underwater: take these."
She hands you a bag with a pair of underwater goggles for each of you, as well as a single belt of incredible dexterity +2, a circlet of persuasion, and a pair of gloves of swimming and climbing.

Did she give us the instructions on how to get there? If so, the professor will put the orb in his handy haversack. If not let's get back on the ships and continue following the key's lead.
The professor can benefit from all the given items (although the circlet isn't that useful for him), but if anyone else needs/wants them please say so.
