Hey Chadius, I just noticed that a couple of PCs (at first I thought it was just one) have booked both parts 1 and 2 of this game on the Outpost sign up sheet, probably thinking that they are going to be played one after the other rather than simultaneously (which I think is how they are being played).
Dylph
|
I'm one of the ones who got confused and signed up for both, thinking they were running sequentially...I'll remove my entry for part II if they're being run at the same time...
| GM chadius |
Uhoh, I thought we were running these parts sequentially, too... let me double check.
Whoops, part 1 and 2 are indeed played at the same time. Obviously I will GM part 2 afterwards, but that's not part of Outpost.
This thread is for Part ONE, game 10-5.

I just got the scenario, so I'm busy preparing.
In the meantime, I must ask: Do you have a PC who permanently died during any of these scenarios?
The scenario suggested I ask this before we begin.
Xanac Candledark
|
None of my characters have EVER permanently died. :)
Agirran the Fury
|
Nope. But I'm willing to try.
Fran Belmont
|
No permanent character deaths to report here, either.
So far :)
Xanac Candledark
|
I've taken the liberty of moving a few things (persons included) around, and giving everybody a stronger, more distinctive colored border. Hope you like them!
Agirran the Fury

Agirran the Fury wrote:"I heard your wife got punched in the face by a paladin once." Agirran says starting the pleasant chit-chat while they wait.Quite possibly the best introduction I have ever read.
Thanks! But it's all down to Agirran's natural charm.

Though my personal favorite for my characters is still my laconic elf scout Shonne's intro during her Confirmation. You wanna read down from the bottom of this post here to get to get the full effect.

Funnily enough it was sort of a Shelyn scouts mini-reunion, but your cleric Evarice wasn't there. It was that one special. We had Prisim and her jerk elf boyfriend that the paladin in question has never really liked, Lannior Llarm, and then there was another new Shelyn paladin in the party. You know it is a bad plan when Polly is the only one making sense. ;)
Basically Apollyanna said: "We can't rob a caravan someone could get killed!" and then Lannior ended up sniping and critting a teamster just doing his job with his bow while the LG side of the party had walked into camp to explain the situation to the "bad guys"--the jerk.

I swear bloody elf bowmen! They're unconscionable killers, ever single one of them! Knife-eared, stick-flinging, sons of motherless goats. Oh! Hi Dylph! You're not an elf are you? I know it says half-orc but it doesn't say what the other half is so I thought I would ask is all.

@Agirran the Fury: Are you aware that you CAN take Spell Focus in the Elemental Schools?
NB: Part of me is suddenly seized to make a parody-character of you, a Kitsune yklept "Agirran the Furry".
Fran Belmont
|
Just as a FYI I'm currently on night 3 out of 4 at work so if I'm a little slow to post in Gameplay for the next day or two then that's why :)
Xanac Candledark

@GM chadius: Question: Why the choice of avatar? What is that, even? A geode? A magic nut? A mussel/abalone shell?
I once had a DM somewhere around here who had a surprisingly good justification for using Squealy Nord as his avatar.
Agirran the Fury

@Agirran the Fury: Are you aware that you CAN take Spell Focus in the Elemental Schools?
And 'Great Axe' isn't a school of magic?
Xanac Candledark

And 'Great Axe' isn't a school of magic?
That's what Weapon Focus is for.
| Dana the Doppelgänger |
Why hello there, Pathfinders! I'm Dana the Doppelgänger, and I'm here to "Bot" anyone who is absent for more than 36 hours. I'll post in your name so the game doesn't grind to a halt. No one likes that!
If you know you'll be absent for a while, please leave a post indicating you'll be gone so I know to step in immediately. Also leave some instructions telling me how you want to be botted. Here's an example you can adjust and put in your profile.
Daily: Cast Heroism and Magic Circle Against Evil on myself as soon as we enter a dungeon.
Combat: Round 1, I'll begin bardsong for Inspire Courage +2 and cast Haste.
I'll try to flank and use my Longsword with Arcane Strike.
[dice=Longsword, Inspire Courage, flanking]1d20+6+2+2[/dice
[dice=Damage]1d8+3+2[/dice
(add closing square brackets ] to those attack rolls in your profile so they can be copied easily)
Thanks for helping me keep the game moving!
Fran Belmont
|
As a FYI I'm working tonight and will also have a trainee with me so while I'll try to sneak in a post later it may have to wait until I get home Saturday morning. Feel free to bot Fran in the meantime as necessary :)
Fran Belmont
|
Tomorrow is a pretty early work day for me so I'll probably be out for at least the next 24 hours or so; feel free to bot/whatever Fran as necessary :)
Xanac Candledark
|
Same here.
Fran Belmont
|
That would be fine with me as well :)
Thror Tjarkson
|
Count me in... provided we survive the vampire spawn, that is! We've got lvl 3 or 4 characters... 3 hits and we are dead! XD
Thror Tjarkson
|
The encounter is basically over. Unless we need to do this quickly we can call someone with the needed items or we can just keep hitting the vamps until the sun comes up. No need to drag bodies around the town and risk being taken for murderers.
Meanwhile, those capable of doing so should help the wounded.

Thanks for running this GM. Enjoyed playing with everyone...even though Aggiran could probably benefit from taking some lessons from a bloodthirsty Elf before we start the next one...
Agirran the Fury
|
You mean Agirran should have shot the piano? ;)
That, and I'm not sure I'm using him for the next one (if that's okay with the GM). I've been trying to get Abaal to 6th level for a little while now (he's just 1 XP away).
| GM chadius |
@Agirran: I'm just happy you aren't vampire chow. A lot can happen between now and the end of Outpost, so I understand if any of you change your minds for part 2.
Good news: I'll have your chronicles done by tonight. I made most of it over the weekend and now I just have to add a date.
Bad news: I can't officially report them because Outpost may change how you report games.
Worse news: I don't know how to roll for boons because (see Bad news).
In the meantime, I copied the boon descriptions over. Depending on how Fran feels about the blessing, you'll get all of them.
Grobaras’s Gloryhounding: You now own a ribbon and a commemorative certificate for services to the city of Magnimar, both of which falsely claim that Lord-Mayor Grobaras hired you to assist the city. If you destroy these objects, cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.
Monument’s Blessing: By sanctifying several of Magnimar’s monuments, you have created a small enduring link with the sacred forces that give the city’s monuments their power. You can perform a particular action tied to one of the five monuments below and attempt a skill check to gain a particular benefit. If you succeed at the check, gain the listed benefit for 24 hours, and then cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.
Battle of Charda: Practice weapon play for 10 minutes and succeed at a DC 20 Intimidate check to gain a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls made with melee weapons.
Cenotaph: Pray for 10 minutes on behalf of lost spirits or the dead and succeed at a DC 15 Knowledge (religion) check to gain a +1 morale bonus on Fortitude saves.
Founder’s Flame: Meditate for 10 minutes before a flame and succeed at a DC 15 Spellcraft check to increase the DC of your fire spells by 1.
Mapstone: Study a map for 10 minutes and succeed at a DC 15 Knowledge (local) check to gain a +1 morale bonus on Will saves.
Mistress of Angels: Meditate for 10 minutes with any object that reminds you of the events of this scenario and succeed at DC 15 Religion to gain +1 morale bonus on Initiative checks.

I've been trying to get Abaal to 6th level for a little while now (he's just 1 XP away).
Looking forward to playing with Abaal again. Wish you could've played him in that scenario I ran before Outpost (we finished up with a week and a half to spare)...it was a fun group of characters and Abaal would've fit in well with them...
