Both soldiers' shots ring out, but fail to connect with their targets. The other zombie, though thrown off by S9's tricky shooting, rushes forward. It shambles forward hastily, its pink backpack bouncing and jingling with the sound of the little girl's Hello Patrah keychains. As it reaches Roddy after its headlong rush, the zombie lashes out with a small fist.
Slam, charge: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 2 = 21 Damage (B): 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Meanwhile, the shirren standing inside the living room telepathically screams as Chk'tarlsh forces open the window and shoves aside the crates barricading the zombies out. "No no no! You'll let them in! You have to give us time to handle things. We swear we'll take care of it, but you have to leave!" The female shirren turns and flees toward another door and takes cover behind the pile of crates blocking the second window into the living room.
Hearing the pleas of the female shirren inside the building, Mr. Philt calls out from his own mind, "It's too late for that, Theskell! That is your name, isn't it? The zombies are here already, Theskell. We can help you deal with your patients, but you need to tell us what caused all this!" While he talks, the AbadarCorp executive helps fire on the undead augment patient that is attacking Roddy.
Azimuth Laser Pistol: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Damage (F): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The shot from Mr. Philt is enough to destroy the pink zombie, and, just like some of the other undead, its destruction leads to an explosion of electric energy that strikes everyone nearby.
Self-destruct damage (E): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Roddy Reflex vs DC10: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Red Zombie Reflex vs DC10: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
The good news? The explosion strikes the fallen little girl zombie's friend in the cap, and the surge of electricity is especially potent against it. The bad news? The blast also catches Roddy and knocks him unconscious!
From his position standing behind Chk'tarlsh, Mr. Philt winces and waves a hand apologetically. "My bad!"

Meanwhile, the door to the room behind the shirren Mr. Philt identified as Theskell opens, and a male shirren appears in the doorway. "Stay out," he shouts, "I'm warning you! You don't know what you're doing. Just let us handle things and everything will be alright! No one else has to get hurt!"

Chk'tarlsh hesitates, antennae twitching, as he looks from his beset companions to the scene beyond the open window and back again. He shudders, clacking his mandibles as he makes his decision.
From what we've seen, it's not us that doesn't know what we're doing, he responds to the shirrens telepathically. We'll clean up out here and then see how we might be able to help you.
Drawing his semi-automatic pistol in his off hand, he moves away from the window and closes on the zombie. Making his way along the wall, he finds a clearer shot and pulls the trigger.

The scene inside the shirren's home is still tense, however, as both remaining owners of Renew-You wait to see what you will do now that their former patients have fallen.
As a reminder, the door on the east end of the building is still closed and locked. The eastern living room window (near where Mr. Philt is standing) is open. While two of the party's soldiers move into position and try their own form of diplomacy, Theskell retreats further into her home, moving to take cover behind the kitchen wall. Once she has moved to a more secure location, she calls out again, "Listen, we know you're here about the patients, and we're sorry for what happened. The components—we just weren’t fast enough, all right? That was the only problem. So...we imported some tech to help out-an assembly ooze we got from a smuggler down in the Puddles. The ooze was just supposed to take apart and assemble tech, but it attacked Kinnakt! It ate them! Then started producing biotech implants, instead of what we’d programmed into it!”
ALP: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 Damage (F): 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
From the kitchen door, the male shirren Vrisken joins in with Theskell, explaining what went wrong while also demanding to be left alone. "“Something in the ooze’s programming went wrong— that’s why it attacked Kinnakt in the first place. The components it produced must have gone bad too. We didn’t know! We couldn’t have known; Kinnakt was the doctor, not me or Theskell!
“We didn’t know anything was wrong until the first undead showed up. By then it was too late to do anything for the rest! There was no point in calling in the authorities by then. The patients were as good as dead already, us going to jail for smuggling wouldn’t fix anything! The best way to deal with it was to let the zombies come to us and make sure they were destroyed. Now you've helped us finish them, so it's all over. There's no point in us going to jail! Besides, everything we’ve been through has been punishment enough! We’re leaving—and so are you! Go!”
Outside the window, Mr. Philt turns you for your expertise, especially to Chk'tarlsh and S9. "Ah...we seem to have something of a siege on our hands," he says, the anxiety clear in his telepathic voice. "What do you recommend we do? Hank rises groggily to his feet and is rather surprised to see his target in front of him. Grabbing the hilt of his sword he swings it in a wide arc, angling the flat of his blade.
Longsword, NL: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8; non lethal: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
AAAnd Hank's run of poor rolls continues...

Hank rises to his feet and attempts to knock out Vrisken, but fails to connect as he is just barely conscious again.
From down the hall, you hear the sound a door swooshing open, then Theskell fires off another volley of magic missiles before she flees entirely. The missiles arc down the hall toward S9.
2=S9
3=Split the difference
1d3 ⇒ 2
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10
As the magical bolts flash by him and crash painfully into S9, Mr. Philt shakily raises his pistol and says, "I am sorry, Vrisken, we did not want to harm you. You could have gone peacefully. Thankfully, these good people have decided to let you live, but you will face justice for your crimes! AbadarCorp demands it!"
Azimuth Laser Pistol vs Flat-footed, NL: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 4 = 12 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The laser blast strikes Vrisken in the shoulder, and the cumulative pain of the assault finally knocks the shirren unconscious!

Healing Channel: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
