Altorin Cyrido |
Good thing there isn't a dog. This is where we shoot the dog and then each other. Can't trust anyone!
"Checking the next room. Garven want to enter together..." Altorin says checking the door for sounds or signs of tampering.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
If it looks good he will open it up.
GM SFS |
Altorin does not hear anything.
But is not sure he would hear the slimes.
They seem to be rather quiet...
Do you open the door right away... or wait for at least Garven (and maybe others) to join you, before initiating contact?
Jaqweh Navar |
Jaqweh gives a quick scan of the exam room behind Door #2.
Perception : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Hearing Altorin's call, he realizes how follish he'd been just randomly opening doors, and steps over to join his friend.
“Ready when you are. “
Altorin Cyrido |
With at least one person with me I will open the door.
GM SFS |
Jaqweh spots nothing, and grows more careful, rejoining the group, to be safe with numbers.
Having smartly waited for backup, Altorin opens the door and--
--sees another empty medical room, with the same traces of what must be slime activity.
Perception checks?
It seems all must be concentrated behind that last door...
Altorin Cyrido |
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
"He said two slimes...and we killed two slimes. Maybe he was confused...or maybe it got stuck in a jar. Hah! Stupid creatures." he says exasperated by the lack of slime.
GM SFS |
As Itch moves to open the door, without listening for any sign of activity before, and, especially, not trying to check to see if it was trapped - despite my hints to that effect -, the others look around and...
Since we are not - yet - in rounds, you can still move just before the door swings open (people can move to place their minis where they wish to be).
Eralyn |
Sorry for the delay. Busy weekend! Eralyn is placed where she would have been. Big gun in hand and ready for a fight.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
GM SFS |
Altorin nor Eralyn hear nothing special, and Garven checks the door... but finds no traps.
So, with all prepared, and guns at the ready... Itch swings the door open, revealing--
--a big medical examination room, with the same slimy traces here and there, a big window on the opposite wall, and a body lying motionless atop the examination bed.
Otherwise, no motion.
Nothing visible.
Even after waiting a few seconds and looking around.
Itch |
Itch cautiously approaches the body, wary of it coming to life if the slimes have taken it over. He peeks up to examine the state of the body.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
GM SFS |
Itch sees that it is a host shirren that lies motionless atop the examination bed.
A dead slime can be seen sticking out of its ear.
Checking the body out, you see that the shirren must have unfortunately died during a bodysnatcher slime’s attempt to integrate with their neurological system.
This must have induced a reaction similar to anaphylactic shock, that killed both the host and its attacker.
There is nothing else moving in the room.
Relieved at not having to face any more enemies, you are saddened when some of you recognize this shirren as a survivor from the Scoured Stars incident... to have endured so much and been saved, only to die in this cheap clinic.
Having completed your mission, you check out the place one last time.
Looking into the computer from the examination room--
You analyze the data present and compare it to the list of names from Hurondo’s office to confirm that they match.
You also note that the systems here were used for the first time in the past few days, and that the earlier logs were written using rudimentary spelling and grammar, that seems to improve slightly with each subsequent entry.
In the generator room, at the end of the entrance corridor, and between the storage room and the corridor with all the examination rooms, a computer terminal rests atop a desk positioned between two large cylindrical power generators.
The devices hum with actinic power, while a glass window shows the grimy bulkheads of Absalom Station’s interior only twenty feet beyond.
You move to analyze the Open Collective’s main database stored at this computer terminal.
You are quite happy that having exposed the Open Collective’s nefarious plot caused all the creatures in line at the facility to flee back to their homes or toward the Respite, where they will receive good treatment.
Once you return to the Lorespire Complex and inform of the Open Collective’s true purpose, Zigvigix is horrified and immediately informs the various faction leaders as well as Absalom Station security and the Stewards.
The presence of bodysnatcher slimes on Absalom Station is of paramount concern, but little evidence found within the Open Collective speaks to the slimes’ origin, causing the trail to run cold.
While the Stewards and the Starfinder Society laud you for your actions - but no medals or bonuses! - representatives from both organizations remain concerned regarding when (not if) the slimes will resurface.
During a debriefing consisting of the your entire team, Zigvigix, Hurondo and Jiwalla, the Exo-Guardians faction leader is delighted at Hurondo’s recovery from his imprisonment by the Uniters.
"When can you resume your normal duties at the Respite?"
Hurondo, however, solemnly shakes his head and informs everyone that:
"I am stepping down from running the center. No harm ultimately came to me, but the recent events caused me to again suffer from some severe anxiety and depression and I need to seek help from the Respite as a patient before I can handle the facility’s management."
Zigvigix responds with understanding and heartfelt well-wishes while Jiwalla looks stunned.
Hurondo tells Jiwalla that she is in charge and that he will try to help as he can, and that: "You will have helping hands."
You are then surprised to see Bargai enter the debriefing room.
You learn she has turned herself in to the Starfinders, seeking a way to repay her misdeeds while still providing aid and community to folk who are displaced or otherwise suffering.
Thus, Hurondo suggested to Zigvigix that Bargai may make a good Starfinder and that her crimes should be paid for in community service as a member of the Exo- Guardians faction, namely working at the Respite.
And so the adventure comes to an end.
Eralyn |
"Oh, another new-fangled computer console. Hmm... I think my grandson has one like this... Let's see... I push this... then this...?"
Computers: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Open the first spoiler, everyone!
Computers: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"Oh, I got this one to work! Not this other one, though. Can one of you do it? Or should I call one of my grandkids to help out? They're good with this kind of thing..."
---
At the meeting, Eralyn gives Hurondo a knowing nod, followed by some well-wishes and a hug. "Hang in there, my friend."
"Oh, Jiwalla, the clinic couldn't be in better hands! You'll do fine, dear."
Eralyn is very pleased to see Bargai took her advice to heart. With a grin she asks, "Are you ready for a cookie? I brought oatmeal raisin today." She holds a cookie out to Bargai, then offers more to the other people present.
Altorin Cyrido |
"Huh...did anyone else have this feeling of danger? Maybe I just don't like all this medical equipment and fluorescent light." Altorin adds jovially till he sees the victim...
"Damn slimes. Get Ziggy on comms so we can get a team to recover them immediately. They shouldn't have to sit in this place any longer than they have...they need to be put to rest." he says anger mixed with sadness as he starts looking for his comm unit.
---
He beams when Bargai walks in.
"Then we know they will be in good hands! There is good to be found in this day...let me know if I can help any of you." he offers to the others present.
GM SFS |
Bargai seems very happy to see you too... especially the cookie!
Itch |
Itch pokes at the terminal. "Ey, one of you techno people ought to look at this." He holsters his weapon and scratches his nose.
-------------
The yoski smiles when Bargai walks in. "Good to see you again, doll. Sounds like you're going to have a good gig going. Help a lot of people. Good for you." He nods and winks at her.
