Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
In that case she probably wouldn't get close enough to touch/inspect it.
She's not quite that foodhardy
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
That's the big question. It seems to be restrained and it might be a bad idea to attack it and maybe free it somehow. Do we have room to move past it safely?
Amestri takes another look at the creature. "If we can get through the door safely it might be better to leave it trapped there. If not I do have two of these." She pulls out a bottle of Alchemist's Fire.
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Amestri notices Ethyl's divided attention and remains between her and the body, alchemist fire at the ready. "I've got my eye on this thing, my good doctor. You need not worry about your back."
GM Natloz |
Sturdy racks and toppled tables suggest this space once served as a sizable laundry. Much of the northern end of the room is filled with rubble. Against the west wall are three figures chained to pipes in a line. From south to north: a human wearing stained yellow sheets as robes and bearing a flame-shaped chalk mark upon his forehead, the corpse of a partially eaten patient, and a ghoul.
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Amestri continues to keep a close eye on the thing in the hallway. She is curious about Ethyl's comment but will wait until everyone is in the room before heading in and closing the door between them and the pinned creature.
Endol Onnend |
Endol holds himself from rushing forward, any or all of the three may be enemies.
Jagray Hamfur |
Jagray follows in behind Ethyl taking in the scene, he promptly looks around the rest of the room to see if someone or something else was hiding somewhere since the other three seemed to be chained up.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
GM Natloz |
Jagray looks for more immediate threats but finds none. The closed door to the south looks like the only unknown in the room. As you are investigating the rest of the room, the prisoner in the bedsheets suddenly notices you and exclaims "PRAISE!" He looks desperate to get away from the ghoul chained up with him.
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Also no know religion. Was planning on taking it next level but that's too late now. Also gonna bot our little gnome friend just enough to get her to walk into the room.
After everyone is inside, Amestri steps in and closes the door so that the thing in the hall can't come up behind them if it were to find a way to get free. She looks at the strange trio chained to the pipe. "Well. That is a little odd."
Jagray Hamfur |
Jagray quirks a brow at the mans words "Well, tha' ain't all to helpful..." Careful to avoid the ghoul he goes to see if there is a way to easily free the man from his bonds while trying to get a better read on him.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Dr. Ethyl Ermengarde |
The doctor raises her hand but doesn't move to unlock the manacles, "I don't know Jagray, remember what happened the last time? Now I am not a complete monster. Would you kindly restrain him while I work? Once he's free of the wall we put him back in chains and let Winter decide what to do with him."
Has it been over 10 mins since the zoog?
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Amestri finishes taking in the odd scene before her and approaches the ghoul with her weapon in hand. "If we take care of this fellow then the other gentleman might be more apt to talk to us. I'd prefer that to letting him free before we know who or what he is."
Failure to meep saddens me. One of the most fun things about the ghould in Dream Quest when compared to others like in Pickman's Model was the meeping.
Dr. Ethyl Ermengarde |
Disable Device, mutagen, improvised tools: 1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 - 2 = 26
Dr. Ermengarde works at the lock with the tools provided by her surgery kit if Jagray or Endol try to restrain the man. She asks, "Who's Zandalus? Is that your name?" Once he's free of the wall Ethyl puts the manacles back on him and similarly try to get the manacles off the dead man and the ghoul. taking 20 as needed
Endol Onnend |
Wile the Doctor works on the lock Endol moves over to give the man A good sniff.
Perception /w Scent: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
GM Natloz |
"PRAISE!" is the man's reply though he is shaking his head no.
Dr Ethyl removes the other manacles (gain two sets of manacles).
Endol investigates the man's scent. He smells bad as though he hadn't bathed in a while but very different than the doctor in the basement or the old woman that ended up being a shapechanger.
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Perhaps after we clear the rest of this room we should take him back to the chapel to see if anyone there recognizes him. He's still in manacles so should be safe. We just need to immobilize him until we are ready to go back so he doesn't cause trouble."
Jagray Hamfur |
Jagray nods to Amerstri's suggestion then looks at the man. "We will take ya ta safety in a minute. Go sit by the door an' wait for us." He points toward the door they came in, then moves over to the other door letting Ethyl check it out first.
Endol Onnend |
Endol crouches, tail twitching, and prepared to burst through the door and deal with the foe.
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Amestri hangs back by the manacled man, in case either he or the thing beyond the door try anything funny, but she watches carefully as the door is opened.
GM Natloz |
Sneaking through the door you see several wide tables and gigantic washbasins filling a laundry equipped to service hundreds. The place looks as though it were repurposed as a failed surgery, though, with at least one table heaped with remains while corpses lie discarded in corners. The pullchains hang from the ceiling along the south wall. A stained sheet hangs between two of the basins, dividing the room roughly in half. A lantern shines on the far side. The shadow of a tall thin figure is being cast on the sheet. You can see through a gap in the sheet that there is another grey figure laying still on the table near the shadow. As you watch, the shadow leaves the table holding chunks of flesh and moves over to the southernmost wash basin. Once there, she tosses the chunks one at a time into the basin with a wet splat, waiting in between each toss. "What do you think of this one my pet hmmmm?"
Endol Onnend |
The scene the exact opposite of the expected, catches Endol of guard. he shakes himself, looks quickly to Jagrey, holds up 3 fingers.
Three...
Two...
One...
He charges at the shadow figure hoping to hit it at the knees to take it down, then and snap on that set of manacles
CMB to ?Trip?: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Dr. Ethyl Ermengarde |
Someone will have to grapple to get manacles on whoever-it-is, I imagine we need init with surprise and such. They should have a chance to notice us. My surprise round action would be to drink shield extract.
Ethyl stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Ethyl init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
would roll for everyone but on phone currently
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Amestri rushes forward towards the sheet, aiming more towards the table than the shadow figure.
If there is a surprise round it would be a move action
Also on phone at the moment, can roll init for others when I get home
GM Natloz |
Creature init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Springy init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Initiative Order:
Creature
Party
Now that you see a map of the room, did you want to sneak more forward before charging? It would require stealth checks now that you're in the room.
As the party begins their charge, the creature turns to look at them curiously. "More guests? How unexpected."
Endol Onnend |
Endol will try and stealth into a straight line 30 feet from the shadow form, to allow a surprise round charge.
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Amestri al-Naadhira Batgali |
Keeping my original plan. Moved on map.
Amestri rushes forward towards the sheet, aiming towards the heap on the table as opposed to the standing figure.
