Like I said, I can’t access the map on rolld20, but Wren will again try to maneuver around the battle field and help the others. This time she will try to move and get to Emil, burn a 1st level spell slot for a CLW on him.
Wren ducks and dodges and bends down to heal Emil.

Wren: Here is a screen shot of the map. It looks like you risk an AOO if you move around to Emil. But with the bonus you get from the BOF to your AC and your high acrobatics skill, you could probably avoid the AOO to get behind Emil and Pila.
Pila hisses at the hobgoblin who threatens Emil. She lashes out at him with full fury. Her first attempt at biting and grabbing the hobgoblin catches only air, but then, with lightning speed, she chomps down hard on a leg, punctures an artery, and digs her claws in for extra emphasis on her attitude toward the beast.
She takes the bonus to attack, AC, and reflex saves. AC = 21, Touch 16.

Thael can save his acid arrow.
The party rallies and puts together a rather good round of attacks and is able to easily bring the final two foes down to the ground before them. Waiting a moment to see if more advance, the courtyard remains clear and the only sounds that you can hear are distant sounds of battle and a roaring dragon.
Are we going through loot or heading to dragon? Remember the near bridge has been destroyed, so the path to get there is longer than a direct approach.
Selde Cathron
And here we have a good example of how "it's what my character would do" isn't just for rogues robbing the party. So I'm pretty sure Selde would get on Nur and head towards the camp as fast as she could. But I prefer not to take dramatic action without checking in with the party. What are y'all thinking?
Thael Silverstep

Thael turns his head in concern toward the sounds of battle at their camp. A lump comes to his throat.
"I have a spell that can get us across the chasm more quickly," he exclaims, unconcerned about the equipment the hobgoblins might have been carrying.
"I can cast a spell to fly now, and could ferry each of you across!" he says.
Father Emil
Before his Blessing of Fervor expires, Emil calls everyone close and says "Cosain sinn ó Aigéad," after which he touches everyone, including Pila and Nur. A green glow surrounds everyone and then fades. "That'll protect ya from acid fer a while."
Communal Protection from Energy cast with the extend metamagic benefit to make it last twice as long.
Targets of the Protection from Energy effect: Emil, Pila, Selde, Nur, Wren, Caspan, and Thael. It will last a maximum of 20 minutes. Once the spell absorbs 84 points for a subject, the spell’s effects end for that subject.
As the group hustles over to the chasm so Thael can fly us across, Emil begins channeling energy to repair the damage from the last fight.
By may calculation, Emil is currently down 43, Pila 36, Thael and Nur 33 each, Caspan 26, and Selde 16. If that's wrong for anyone, let me know.
Positive Energy Channel: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 4) = 17 Selde healed.
Positive Energy Channel: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 3) = 14 Nur and Thael still down 2.
Positive Energy Channel: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 3) = 18 Everyone healed fully.
During the wait for transport across the chasm, Emil will cast more spells on himself and others.
Depends on how long it takes as to what Emil can cast, so I'll post the specifics when we know when each of us is across .
Caspan Saal
Oh, yeah, heading for the dragon. We can come back and loot the place later. 26 hp is (was, now) right for Caspan.
"I told you we should'a left 'em all in the caves!" Caspan says as he waits for Thael to cast his magic. Though is individual ferrying all that much faster? Maybe if the two fastest of us run around the bridge? Whatever, I think we're all trying to get to the dragon as quickly as we can.
Selde Cathron
Fly is on a creature, and can be extended with blessing of fervor. Cast fly on Nur, his heavy load is 1200lbs so he should be able to take everyone over in 2-3 passes.
"Can you cast it on Nur instead?" Selde said softly.
GM ShadowLord
Who's ready to fight a dragon?!
The flying transport of Nur is able to efficiently transport the party across the large gap to the other side. As you head towards the camp, the sounds of battle become clearer the closer you get. There are screams and shouts of fear and you encounter more than one member of your group running towards you to get away from the dragon.
It not those fleeing members that concern you however, its the ones who aren't fleeing and lay bloody and burned by acid on the path back to the camp.
A child of no more than nine lay face down in the dirt, unmoving. Most likely Maleen, but unable to be certain from this angle. Another fifty feet in front of her lay what remains of Dulis, the baker. The skin burned from more than half of his body and still sizzling through his bones.
Twenty feet in front of that, Jet and Mia lay motionless, face down on the path, one in front of the other.
Rushing ahead and round the corner, you finally lay eyes on the dragon. Flying above, he has absolutely devastated your camp. Ignoring the destruction, you quickly survey the scene to get a handle on the battle.
It's clear that some of your group tried to mount a defense, with Cirieo, Jillian, Abby, Lirosa, Taidel and Kining all relatively near each other in a loose circle in the center of the camp. Unfortunately, all but Kining have fallen. To stubborn to die, she shouts obscenities at the dragon while trying to shoot it with Lirosa's bow. Standing in the center of all of them is the wood giant Herge who wields his longbow. He takes aim and shoots it up into the air, scoring another hit as he buries the arrow into the belly of the dragon.
As you close the distance, the large, lean black dragon, whose name you learned to be Ibzairiak, swoops down towards the ground and disappears into a large fog of darkness that you cannot see beyond. A loud thump of the giant falling to the ground is accompanied by more cursing from Kining until she too falls silent.
The dragon is not visible. Magical darkness envelopes the camp fifty feet up the path ahead of you. Everyone is up.
Wren Chavali
Wren cries out in anger, seeing Jet and her other friends being devastated by the hulking monster. She wanted nothing but to make its head explode with her fury, but it’s hiding in darkness made that impossible. She made sure to sharpen her friends’ attacks by yet again casting Haste on the others.
Remember you Haste bonus, please! It’s about to get ugly...
Selde Cathron
The sights and sounds of the destroyed camp faded away as Selde caught sight of Mia's motionless body. Every lesson her grandfather had every taught her about keeping a cool head faded away as Selde screamed and ran.
"Nàdar, na leig leatha bàsachadh!" With tears in her eyes Selde chanted in druidic as healing green energy enveloped her hand. Grasping Mia in her arms, Selde released the energy to Mia's heart, praying that her lover would be alright.

While waiting for the group to be ferried across the chasm, Emil keeps busy casting spells in preparation for fighting the dragon.
He lays down a line of powdered silver in a three foot circle around himself, saying, "Timpeall orm le cosaint ón olc." A glow fills an area around Emil with golden light that gradually fades. "Anyone close ta me gets extra blessings from Erastil when facin' evil enemies."
All within 30 feet of Emil gain benefits of the Magic Circle against Evil spell: +2 deflection bonus to AC and +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures. There are other benefits when making saves against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person, when cast by an evil creature. It also can exclude evil summoned creatures. Lasts 70 minutes. Reminder: Deflection bonuses don't stack with other deflection bonuses. They do affect touch AC.
Next he says, "Coirt an chrainn chun tú a chosaint," touches his holy symbol of Erastil, and then his chin. His skin appears to change into the bark of a tree before fading except for faint brown scales on his skin.
Barkskin on himself. Provides +3 enhancement bonus AC. (Does not stack with other enhancement bonuses. Lasts 70 minutes.
He casts Bear's Endurance on himself and then again on Pila. He follows this with Shield of Faith on himself, Pila, and again on Caspan.
Provides +4 bonus to Constitution for 7 minutes, which gives Emil 14 more hp and Pila 12 hp. Their AC is increased by +3 deflection bonus. Both spells last 7 minutes.
Finally, just before the group begins the dash to find the dragon, he gestures and speaks magic words, providing him with a brief pink aura that extends out 30 feet. "An' that's fer luck all around!" he says.
Beacon of Luck which gives Emil +2 sacred bonus on all saving throws. As an immediate action before a saving throw is made, allies within the area can choose to benefit from this luck, rolling twice for a saving throw and taking the better result. Once a creature benefits from the beacon of luck in this way, it cannot gain the benefit of this spell for 24 hours. It lasts 7 minutes.

Emil's heart sinks at the sight of so many beloved friends fallen, and he nearly stumbles when he sees Abby too lying still on the ground. He pushes all emotion down to focus on the threat of the dragon, allowing himself only the shortest prayer to Erastil to give all the strength and skill to prevail and perhaps heal some who are not yet dead.
Seeing the darkness spell surrounding the dragon, he is grateful he prepared a spell to counter it. He touches his holy symbol and says, "Solas na gréine." Bright light shines out all around him as if the sun itself were shining down on him, cutting through the dragon's magical darkness.
"Do not hide in darkness, vile creature of the abyss!" he bellows out, hoping to rally his friends to fight bravely. Pila stays by his side.
Cast Daylight, which provides bright light in a 60-foot radius. Daylight brought into an area of magical darkness (or vice versa) is temporarily negated, so that the otherwise prevailing light conditions exist in the overlapping areas of effect. This is a 3rd level spell and Emil is a 7th level caster.

Caspan steps forward, keeping the pressure on the dragon as he continues to pummel away at it, hoping he doesn't end up looking like that cat.
Attacks include haste and bless; I stepped due north, putting myself between Pila and the dragon. I'm assuming Pila is down, so interposing my body between her and the dragon.

Father Emil
Summoned creatures usually get to attack the same round they are summoned. I'd assume the pteranodon can move up to a spot opposite where Emil attacks the dragon, giving him a flanking bonus.
Pila gave her all in her assault on the dragon and paid for it, suffering mortal wounds. She fell limp although her wounds looked as though she might stabilize rather than expire immediately.
DC 18 Constitution: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Pila starts the round at -8 and loses another point when she fails to stabilize.
Emil steels himself to accept Pila's dire condition and steps up to try to damage the dragon with his scythe.

As you've seen, my posts may be slower than normal. I have a lot going on in life right now.
As Pila drops, the dragon booms "Flee, whelp, to nurse the wounds the Scar-Maker gave you!"
Neither of Wren's spells affect Ibzairiak and both of Emil's attacks miss. Caspan manages to land a single blow against the dragon, damaging it slightly after its harden, scaly skin.
Selde's strikes are what legends are born of. In heroic fashion, all three of her arrows land, tearing open vicious, massive wounds on the black dragon and rip its body into pieces. Though it stills stands, it's severely wounded and she earns the distinction of attracting all of its attention.
With huge booming footsteps, the dragon moves around Emil and rushes towards the would-be dragonslayer, lashing out and bite her with its bloody, sharpened teeth. Selde damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (1, 5) + 8 = 14
Will provoke from those adjacent as he moves.
Party up!

Boar Ferocity?: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 I think by RAW I should get this if those 25s hit, but honestly don't think it makes sense, so feel free to ignore: While using this style, once per round when you hit a single foe with two or more unarmed strikes, you can tear flesh. When you do, you deal 2d6 extra points of damage with the attack.
Selde Cathron
The breath was knocked out of Selde's lungs as the massive creature closed its jaws around her. With teeth like knives, it should have been the end of the half elf, but once again she was saved by her spidersilk armor. Though the pain was still great, it wasn't enough to break threw her anger. With nothing more than a scream of rage, Selde pulled a dragon's bane arrow from her quiver and jammed it into the dragon's eye. Quickly pulling out another and another while stabbing into the creature with all her might. There was no grace, no skill in her efforts, only bloodlust.

I indeed forgot I could have attacked with my summoned creature last turn. I'll go ahead and roll twice (though the second attack would miss regardless).
Thael's eyes narrow as the dragon attacks Selde.
Not her, too!
Casting one of his most powerful spells, twin balls of lightning appear on top of the dragon, sparking and sputtering over its hide.
His summoned ally bites at it, as well.

Emil takes a wild swing at the dragon as it sweeps by him to attack Selde. The bottom of his stomach seemed to fall away as he saw so many attacks fail to do more than scratch the dragon. But he was ready to fight to the death if need be. This desecration of his community could not go unavenged.
He hustled over to join Caspan's side and tried again to drive his scythe into the dragon's thick hide.

AoO Caspan: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
Caspan has the ferocity, but unfortunately this dragon is more difficult to strike a normal enemy. Worse yet, as he closes the distance the dragon turns around and bites his left shoulder. Caspan Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3) + 8 = 12
Emil too finds difficulty striking the dragon, both of his attacks missing.
Ball Lightning is susceptible to spell resistance, I'll roll:

Thael's spell also fails to injure the dragon, it's strength in resisting and avoiding damage from the party now quite evident. His summoned creature also fails to land a blow against the black dragon.
Wren's first group of missile miss, but she manages to land the second set and break the dragon's defenses.
Nur fails to strike the dragon, but Selde once again comes through with another critical hit with her dragon-bane arrow as she jams it into the dragon's eye. It roars up in pain loudly and comes back down to a bite her just as she lands another arrow into its chest.
Ibzairiak falters then, nearly collapsing from the six dragon-bane arrows that pierce his body. Bleeding from numerous wounds and shaking terribly, it stays upright and brings the brunt of its terror to bear on Selde. "YOU-DIE-NOW!" it roars.
Tearing into her with its razor sharp teeth, it follows it the attack with two slashes of its claws which shred the flesh from Selde's body.

Thael's spell doesn't knock the dragon down, but it does inflict damage on it. Caspan lands his final punch, Nur tears into some flesh with his teeth and Emil slashes him twice. All of the effort proves to be too much for Ibzairiak, the Scar Maker. The black dragon stumbles sideways a few feet before collapsing to the ground.
Labored breathing from those still standing is the only sound you hear for a few moments before the ringing of screams from panicked survivors fleeing ring out in the distance. All around you bloody and broken bodies litter your camp with alongside puddles of acid. Burned and broken supplies are scattered and destroyed, but the black dragon lay motionless in the center of it all.
Those that have survived will surely tell the tale for years to come of those that rose up and slew Scar Maker in the battle for Fort Trevalay. The battle has been won, but at what cost?
Out of initiative! This concludes book two of Ironfang Invasion, Fangs of War. Please level up to eight!
