With their powers combined, they manage to bring down the last of their attackers -- Soddy Daisy's arrow is further punches into an eye socket even as a magical, glimmering missile follows it to destroy the flaming beheaded.
Given a few minutes to recover, gather their wits, and continue, Valistar recovers from the fear that had caught him off guard. The party continues.

A large two-tier platform with a rectangular stone altar dominates this chamber. A narrow channel stained red runs around its floor, twisting in strange patterns. The platform is flanked by six statues of demonic mien that reach out with wicked claws.

Valistar then scans the room with a Detect Magic.

Arthur will check for traps and hidden features.

Kvina steps into the room bow and arrow at the ready, not liking the looks of the place. She gives the room a glance over and then narrows in on the altar or any one object she can find on it trying to reassure herself that the thing is not evil.

Arthur makes a note of the pattern in the tiles. Seeing no traps, he retrieves the dagger from the altar and walks back to the bulk of the party.
"Does this knife hold magical significance? Anyone?"
Kvina Oathsworn
|
Kvina still hangs back her longbow strung and an arrow notched. She gives the knife Arthur is holding a look over, double checking that it might not be evil or not. "I didn't sense anything evil off of the altar before, but I might not have been focusing on that properly... just give me a second to double check."
Just one last Detect, move action version.

With the room apparently safe, Soddy comes toddling forward, watching the liquid fill the channel with interest. "Used to divine the future? Did they drink it?"
After a few moments, she pauses and then cocks her head slightly to one side as though puzzled. "Mmm...I smell cinnamon! And...vinegar?"
Kvina Oathsworn
|
Kvina opens her eyes and looks up to Arthur, "Nope it's definitely not evil." She then steps up onto the dias, her bow still at the ready. "Do you think it might be safe to try the liquid? If it really is supposed to help with divinations maybe we could use it for some benefit? Either way we should take a sample." She pulls the arrow off her bow and sticks it in a crack to stand up, before bending down and pulling out a small empty vial. She scoops up some of the liquid and caps it, before putting it away.
Arthur Worthington
|
"Drink it, eh? Personally, I've no desire to sit on a tripod spouting gibberish prophecies, but to each their own."
Arthur will back up from the altar as far as possible, pocketing the dagger, now that he's certain it isn't evil.
Styrian Meathier
|
"Sit on a tripod spouting something, at least... I won't try any for sure, but taking a sample may provide some information later."
Did we have enough time to try that object reading from the dagger? Easy cheat way to get clues!
| GM Hiyami |
@Styrian: Unfortunately not. You're presently in rounds.
The channels finish filling and the fluid appears to have ceased its flow from the skulls' mouths. There doesn't appear to be anything else of use here and you can hear a sudden burst of activity in the streets outside again.
Soddy Daisy
|
"Well...should we go then?" Soddy finally asks, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. "I think Arthur wrote that pattern down and thanks to Kvina we have some liquid to look at later if we need it! And we can always bring the dagger back if it's not important."

The next district is the home of hundreds of statues. While all of these monuments are defaced, marred, or greatly damaged, it cannot be denied that the original craftsmanship was impeccable. the area the group is assigned is full of tumbled columns and broken statuary of martial dwarves. The metallic doors in the hallway beyond sit between statutes of recumbent hounds and there are no visible locks or handles.

Sorry for the delay! Apparently a couple of my posts from last night got eaten. I swear, this only happens when I've let my guard down.
A DC 15 Strength check ought to get 'em open!

Poor Soddy Daisy yanks on the handles of the door and pulls and pulls, but the doors don't so much as budge, the iron unyielding to her plant matter.
