Sounds like fun! Is there still room?

Rolls:

5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 4, 1) = 11 10
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 2, 2) = 10 9
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 3, 4) = 17 15
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 1, 3) = 10 9
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 5, 4) = 20 19
5d6: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 2, 4) = 23 21

What kind of crazy rolls are these?

So I made another PC, something more fun.

Meet...

Are templates a thing here?

You can get 1, with the Wish Boon if you write a long background.
But it has to fit the background and not be two over powered like mighty template. We love backgrounds here, I am still working on Onyx's

I dont even know where to start with this character but there are three big problems:

DR 20
Chine
And Hypersonic Blasters

I think if I took her and Niche they could easily kill the rest of the group.

Ill rebuild and dial back :)

Personally, I am not sure why you are looking at a new character at all. I read through the story as it exist up till now over the weekend, and I thought it was great! Rosa has a bunch of great previously established relationships, and the dynamics are really interesting and well roleplayed on all fronts. I can't imagine why you'd want to toss that away to start something different.

Reading the thread from the perspective of an outsider, yes the attack on Olivira was totally unprovoked, and rather jarring because of it, but rather than make me think Rosa is just crazy, it made me wonder what was going inside to motivate something like that. It made me imagine that Rosa is nursing some deep psychological trauma that is being provoked by the mere presence of someone with demon blood, and intensely curious as to what that trauma might be, and how the revelation might unfold. I for one would be very disappointed if we never got to find out.

Hope you decide to stick with her.

Reading the story with all the characters so far made me want to go back and add to my backstory in order to have more of the fascinating hooks and history the other characters seem to have.

You can always say no to any of my requests. Like I said when I was offering to help rebuild the half-orc guy, I love a good optimization, but being way above the rest of the party in power isn't fun either. My aim was to be on par with Rosa, Lidra, or Aden in overall strength, of perhaps a touch better in melee given my lack of other expertise compared to those characters. If I overshot, let me know.

Glad to hear that Lidras made it to that level. :)

I tried to tone him down a bit by taking an archetype panned as being underpowered. Losing burn takes away the flexibility of his class. He’s also 2/3 BaB without much in the way of spellcasting.

But maybe you could give me some advice? Should his blasts be physical or negative energy? NE feels more in character and hits vs touch...but it makes him next to worthless vs undead....

I like using Monks for odd builds for the same reason; most people consider "Broken Monk Build" an oxymoron. I think that is true of usual play, but in high power games where MAD is not a problem, or things like Gestalt or Templates start altering the base assumptions, they have massive potential.

As for helping you, I love fiddling with builds, but as I said when I started making this character, I haven't played Pathfinder in about 2-3 years, so I am pretty rusty regarding a lot of rules, and mostly ignorant about what has come out in that time. I'm not actually even sure what a Kineticist is, so we'll see how much help I can be after I look that up...

Dark Archive

I think you’d like the class. 1d8 HP, 2/3 BaB, no spell casting. Sounds weak, right?

(1) Pick an element. At-will ranged attack with dex to Hit and con to damage. Choose physical damage (higher damage hits vs AC) or elemental damage (lower damage, hits vs touch). Both scale with your level.

(2) Can take talents each level that either make your blasts more effective, let you turn your blast into a weapon, or do out of combat effects.

(3) You can power up your blasts and use powerful abilities by accepting burn. You take Nonlethal damage to become more powerful.

It’s a class that takes a lot of juggling. But can have some fun effects.

Example: I have a Dwarven earth kineticist in another game. Defending a castle vs orcs. They were making a bridge to attack us. The kineticist walked down the castle walls and then took the earth out from under the ad-hoc bridge, making it fall in the water. He did this at lvl3.

Kineticists are a lot of fun because they can be great if used right. And total potatoes if built poorly.

Lidras can’t fake burn. So he loses the ability to quickly power himself up. In return he uses charisma instead of constitution. :p

A very weak archetype. But in a game as high powered as this, there are fewer rules and less book keeping. And he’s strong enough as is.

——

Seeing how good you are at optimization, I strongly encourage you to take a look at the class.

Kineticists are awesome. I don't know why they have a reputation of being weak. I've got a level 12 (dwarven geokinetecist) one in Ironfang Invasion that deals an average of 150 or so damage to a single enemy, every round, no Burn taken. He just demolishes encounters. No archetype, no houserules.

Plus, he has DR 11, Earth Glide, the ability to move massive amounts of earth, and absurd mobility (I can end adjacent to wherever I aim my ranged attack).

It looks interesting... a lot of the comparisons I see hold it up to the 3.5 Warlock, a class I always wanted to play, but never really got the chance before 3.5 was fading out of use.

I may poke around with it and see if I can find anything to suggest. Often, finding ways to significantly boost a character is finding a method where changes in the default rules allow for stars to align in ways they never would in a normal game. Nothing is jumping out at me so far as obvious exploits, but you never know.

Hummm if you put it like that....

Ok Lidras, found something interesting... but whether it helps depends on whether you think it fits your character. I looked at the Invidiak template, and it looked underwhelming to me. Going intangible is cool, but limited.

There is an aspect of the Void Kineticist that combines very well with a normally limited Template, but as that template also robs you of a Constitution score, it is a shoe-in for the Overwhelming Soul, and allows you to get double purpose out of stacking your Charisma by having it add to HP as well.

So, given this

You can create a shadow that protects a target from bright light. You can also change gravity to increase a creature’s carrying capacity by half or grant a creature a +4 bonus on Acrobatics checks to jump.

Each benefit lasts 1 hour or until you use basic chaokinesis again.

how do you feel about vampires?

There are a variety of subtypes that might allow you to find a flavour that is compatible with your character concept, it is a much stronger Template than Half-Invidiak, gives you synergy on Charisma to HP, and doesn't necessarily even change your appearance much. You would lose your fly speed, but since being evil isn't a deal breaker in this group, you could go LE and use your wish for that. You could switch the 14 from your rolled stats to Con, and thus drop it, and shift your present Con stat to Wis, Intelligence, or even Str, as the +6 Str you'd be getting might make melee a reasonable back up option. Being a Negative Energy manipulator starts to take on whole new aspects when you are yourself undead as well...

If this seems totally off-type for you, let me know and I'll keep looking.

Dark Archive

That is a good find, and perfect optimization.

I can’t though. This character finished another campaign, and in that one was a 5e warlock and a winged (elven) tiefling. The build here was me trying to recreate that. The wings are just too central to his character to lose.

But thanks for the digging!

As yeah..for the fiend templates I think I might have picked one of the weaker ones. I liked though that with void he has see in darkness, which meshes decently with casting darkness.

Panic: You need to keep Rosa, I love her, you are playing her according to how you made her. There are what, 7 PCs, and Rosa gets along with the paladin... that should tell you something. If he is willing to work with you everyone else should be able to buck up.

Now I will look back at the 17 posts...

I like Rosa 1000 times better than Onyx!!!

5d6 keeping the top 4!
5d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 2, 6) - 2 = 17
5d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 2, 5) - 1 = 16
5d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 2, 4) - 2 = 11
5d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 2, 2) - 2 = 15
5d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 5, 5) - 2 = 18
5d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 1, 6) - 1 = 21
Nothing super...
