@Sashah - diving in the water is certainly an option, just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
@Raiden - Sure can. Zayless acts befor you in the round init wise.

Smite dragon! He stands up, drawing his great sword and in the same smooth action, rakes it across the dragon's side.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6
Attack 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 = 9
no 1's allowed: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10
no 2's allowed either: 1d6 ⇒ 3
So that's 20 points of sword lovin'
Second wind: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Raiden’s eyes open as Zayless calls to a mysterious power and then blasts the dragon with one of his bolts of energy.
Dragon Con vs Stun: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Anton relentlessly attacks the dragon managing to defeat the hide only once and unable to stun the beast with his ki power.
Scramsax bounds nimbly toward the dragon’s exposed flank and chunks his short sword on the dragon’s tough hide unable to break through. Though it may have all been just a distraction so the dragon would not notice the rogue attaching the grappling hook to it’s tail.
Rider Wisdom vs Hold: 1d20 ⇒ 11
The rider seems unaffected by Uriah’s magic
Raiden stands up and successfully shows the dragon how a fighter uses a greatsword.
Rider Wisdom vs Command: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Dragon wisdom vs Command: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Ravvek is up
dragon - 80
Rider - 49
This will be fun, Scram how are you holding onto that rope?
sidenote - you may have noticed no bonuses on my rolls. I’m keeping them somewhat hidden to leave some mystery on the creatures ability scores
Ravvek the Avenger
Ravvek pops out and takes two shots at the wizard!
+1 longbow; Atk #1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Advantage (assuming that the Stealth check was enough): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage w hunter's mark: 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 5 + (4) = 16
+1 longbow; Atk #2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Advantage (maybe?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage w hunter's mark: 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (1) = 8
Then Ravvek runs for cover nearby!
Scramsax
Other end of rope will be tied around his waist next turn if possible. For now just holding it with his free hand.
Greycastle
Sorry Ravv, only adv on the first roll.
From his hidden location Ravvek’s arrow pierces the shoulder of the dragon rider while the other shot goes wide.
The rider glaring at the Paladin is just about to stoke out with her magic to make him pay when the compelling effects of Sashah’s divine order takes hold. The dragon, snarling at his enemies, backs away from them toward the edge of the pier. The beast then dives suddenly into the water.
steps away using the disengage action the dives into the water.
The last thing you see is the confused wizard take a quick gulp of air before being plunged into the deep water.
Scram, letting go or going for the ride?
STR Athletics DC 15 to hold on if you choose.
DEX Acrobatics DC 15 to get clear of the rope as it drags into the water.

Uriah Lewis
Uriah moves to Raiden and casts a spell of healing.
Cure Wounds: 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 8, 6) + 4 = 24
At 3rd level
If the dragon is eating you, it's not eating me... Uriah offers as an explanation for this newfound protective instinct towards his allies.
Raiden Bartok
So for map, assume that Uriah is now next to Raiden, and the dragon and rider are in the drink, possibly along with Scram. Yeah?
To Uriah, Yep, that's true, and thanks all the same. He walks to the edge of the pier. Can dragons swim? Looking down cautiously into the water, Bet that mage can't breathe underwater. He stands a couple of feet back from the edge, ready to slice again if that opportunity surfaces.
Scramsax
Hold on for one more day...: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Scram belly flops into the ocean with a huge *slaaaap* as the dragon dives deep.
AoO for it leaving my space?
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Dmg+Sneak: 1d8 + 3 + 3d6 ⇒ (6) + 3 + (3, 2, 2) = 16
Sashah
Sashah moves to the edge and hops down. With a solid Oof! he rolls and regains his feet. He stares at the water, looking ready to cast another spell.
Sashah moves and readies to cast Sleep (3rd) at the dragon and rider pair if he sees them and they are in range (90ft).
9d8 ⇒ (5, 2, 8, 7, 4, 8, 8, 6, 1) = 49 = the total number of hit points affected
Greycastle
Scramsax does indeed get pulled into the ocean with the beast. He just couldn’t keep hold of his rope however and finds himself treading water.
Athletics DC 5 to back to the pier edge
No AoO though since the dragon disengaged.

Anton Jiang
Rushing to the edge of the pier, Anton looks for the submerged foes. He drops his sword, draws a dagger, and dives in, swimming for the mage. He stabs him, and then attempts to grapple his with the other hand and drag him as far down as he can swim.
Dagger: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 piercing
Grapple: Strength (Athletics): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
It looks like the edge of the pier is 35 ft. away, so I'll spend ki on step of the wind as a bonus action (doubling speed to 80 ft.). Movement being halved underwater, I should still be able to get about 27 ft.
I'm going to try to hold the mage under as long as I can.
I'm not sure if the grapple counts as an unarmed attack for the purposes of my Agile Parry ability, since the dragon may get an opportunity attack.
Myastan Zayless
Assuming that I can still target the rider.
Zayless targets the rider seeing the dragon acting strangely.
Eldritch Blast 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Eldritch Blast 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Athletics, Swim: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Scram so Lucky: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Scram gargles saltwater a moment before rolling into a tight little puppy paddle back ashore. He seems to be cursing something about 10 bags of caltrops and one of the dragon's posterior orifices.
Ravvek the Avenger
If they have not emerged yet, Ravvek will make his way to the ship and do the Hide action.
Dexterity (Stealth): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Greycastle
no urn has been coughed up.
Zayless, you have no target so we’ll say you readied your attacks.
Anton quickly dives to the dragon’s location and using his dagger strikes out at the mage on the dragon’s back. He then wraps his arm under the wizards arm to lock it into a position that would allow no escape and attempts to pull the mage free of the dragon’s back. He receives no resistance and easily pushes away from the dragon, dragging what he believes is an unconscious wizard with him.
The dragon lashes out at the monk as this happens though.
AoO: 1d20 ⇒ 19 for Slashing: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14
From above, the water can be seen roiling from time to time and air bubbles occasionally come to the surface but nothing emerges from the dark water.
Soleil approaches the others cautiously but says nothing as she watches with the rest of the party.
The dragon, now in it’s element, turns to the annoying monk.
Claw: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Claw: 1d20 ⇒ 19 for Slashing: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10
Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 13 for Piercing: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (8, 10) + 4 = 22 and acid: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Anton’s life blood mixes with that of the wizard and sea water as he also lose consciousness from the dragon’s attacks. he will bob to the surface for two rounds and then sink below so to recover him, action will be required quickly.
The dragon, emboldened by its success explodes from the water victoriously flying straight up into the air in an explosion of water. Just as fast as the dragon exploded out of the water, an eldritch blast hits the beast right before it seems to lose consciousness and then plummet back in to the water. Albeit much far less grace. Sashah’s magic seems to have taken hold.
Greycastle
The party is up. The dragon currently cannot be seen and Anton’s body just bobbed to the surface.
@Sashah you’re never t sure if the dragon woke from his sleep spell on impact or not. You did notice that the dragon was riderless.
Raiden Bartok
Raiden starts to strip off his heavy chain mail so he can dive in after Anton, which he will proceed to do unless someone else rescues him first. At the very least, he can assist in pulling him out of the water should someone else get him (like Scram?).
Ravvek the Avenger
Raiden! Ravvek calls out, revealing himself, I've got him! Keep an eye out for the dragon!
EDIT: Are they on the other side of the ship? Scram is showing on my side, so I am a little confused...
Myastan Zayless
Is the rider visible.
Sashah
Sashah moves forward and says a prayer while holding his holy symbol.
Holy Word (on Anton): 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Scramsax
Sorry, I didnt update my token since getting pulled into the water. The dragon is still showing on the docks, so I'm not sure where I should be. DM, can you place me where I should be or advise?
Ravvek the Avenger
Sashah, I am assuming you mean healing word? ^_^ I think holy word is a much higher level spell!
Greycastle
sorry guys, no access to a computer since I’m at a con this weekend. I can’t move the dragon’s icon. He is roughly 30ft south of the dock in open water. Anton is floating in a similar location. [/ooc]
Myastan Zayless
[ooc]I moved them to that location hope that helps.
Uriah Lewis
Uriah thinks the name of this song will be
The Dragon, the Monk and the Sea. A ballad of bravery and asphyxiation
Myastan Zayless
Zayless looks happy that Anton has made it out of the drink. "We are smiled upon. . . do you think we drove it off?" He reaches out a hand toward Anton.
Healing Light: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5) = 14
"No one else get hurt.
Myastan Zayless
"In arguments of how full the glass is survival is more than half full."
Ravvek the Avenger
Oops, just realized that I forgot to change my alias. :p
Ravvek sighs, Yes, my friend you are correct, but the mission still failed... I am sorry, Soleil.
Raiden Bartok
In the belly of a drowned dragon is a better place for Tick than an unholy tea party. It is still a shame that we can't get to the ashes though. He looks in the water, not sure if the dragon and rider are alive or dead.
Myastan Zayless
"Black dragons breath weapon is acid. . . . stomach acid. Its possible that the beast can hack up the urn."
Greycastle
After a few moments, Soleil moves out to the pier cautiously. ”Is it dead?” At the apology for the urn, she waves her hand quickly, ”That urn...” she begins, but trails off at the end. She points then at a body that has bobbed to the surface.
a round has gone by and the body of the wizard surfaces. Please make sure your position on the map is current.
Ravvek the Avenger
She is still the target of my hunter's mark, can I tell if she is still alive?
Ravvek moves up to the group and is walking up to edge of the pier, I do not know. If we are lucky the dragon has fled...
Greycastle
The body is unmoving and face down.
Ravvek can sense that his magic can be focused on a new target. She is dead.
