GM Rinaldo |
Welcome to the Quest for Perfection series! We will be running all three parts, so please be sure you can commit for the entire duration. You will receive a chronicle after each part, so some of you may level up between sections.
I expect on average one post a day during the week, and at least one post over the weekend. I generally check in several times a day to respond to questions and update, particularly during combats, but that can change based on how busy I am at work. If you are not in a US time zone, let me know so I have an idea of when to expect to hear from you (and so I can put another pin in my "where are my players from" map! :) ). If you know you're going to be out for an extended period, let me know and provide some sort of botting instructions.
For chronicles, please post the following information in this format (it helps me to keep organized to have everyone do it the same way):
Player Name:
Character Name:
PFS ID#:
Faction:
Character level (for subtier determination):
Normal or Slow track:
Day Job check or Downtime activity:
Please post an in-character introduction in the Gameplay thread, and an out-of-character one here. It will help me to have a heads-up on any particularly high skill checks, attacks, or AC, or special abilities that may be unusual.
Zelrora Emeraldsky |
Player Name: Deadly Secret
Character Name: Zelrora Emeraldsky
PFS ID#: 142393-6
Faction: Scarab Sages
Character level (for subtier determination): 1
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: Perform (string instruments) +7
Hello, I'm just your typical pathfinder.
Juno Berik |
Player Name: meloriel
Character Name: Juno Berik
PFS ID#: 276820-7
Faction: Exchange
Character level (for subtier determination): 2
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: I will probably do a faction mission
Maelstrom Stormsinger |
I’ll fill everything out later tonight after I finish getting the games I’m gm’ing set up, but dotting for now. Thanks for running, GM!
Sadaf Kargar |
Thanks a lot for GMing!
Player Name: noral
Character Name: Sadaf Kargar
PFS ID#: 314670-16
Faction: Exchange
Character level (for subtier determination): 2
Normal or Slow track: normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: Profession (merchant) : 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
I live in Germany! ;-)
My character has a trait so he uses Wis instead of Charisma for Diplomacy.
GM Rinaldo |
Sadaf, would you mind setting up your tagline using the format in this document? Bonus points if you do your character statblock as well, though that is negotiable. ;-) It really speeds things up for me as a GM to have things standardized when I go looking for information.
GM Rinaldo |
Sadaf, thanks for the tagline! Do you have a separate profile for your animal companion? If not, we'll need a way for me to view his character sheet as well. A linked google document would do, or you can put it in a spoiler tag in your own profile.
And finally, if you could select a profile picture for yourself and for your animal companion, I will use those as tokens on the encounter map.
Juno Berik |
Juno doesn't have much in the way of weird abilities. She's a dwarven fighter, has darkvision and stonecunning. She's pompous a horrible with people, so... Sorry? Haha.
Johnny Brom |
Ooh, a Saurian shaman??? Cool!
Player Name: EwokBanshee
Character Name: Johnny Brom, "Jale"
PFS ID#: 240237-6
Faction: Grand Lodge
Character level (for subtier determination): 2
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: Craft (Traps): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Jale is a psychic, with a Dark Half. So sometimes he goes creepy and his spells get better. He has 6 spells per day, pretty basic ones.
Ray of Enfeeblement, Mind Thrust I, Sleep, Detect Thoughts (1/Day)
Maelstrom Stormsinger |
Player Name: Steven Stewart
Character Name: Maelstrom Stormsinger
PFS ID#: 17394-13
Faction: Grand Lodge
Character level (for subtier determination): 1 (1xp)
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: None
GM Rinaldo |
Just need Sang and Gronkh to check in, and to get an image from Sadaf and his companion.
Sadaf Kargar |
Sorry GM, I wanted to play Sang but decided to play Sadaf. I will create the profile for the Animal companion. I applied GM credit to Sadaf to level him to level 2 so this is the first time I am playing him. ;-)
GM Rinaldo |
Ah, ok.
If I don't hear from Gronkh by tomorrow I'll try to recruit a new 6th player.
Gronkh Maha |
Player Name: Abraham Z.
Character Name: Gronkh Maha
PFS ID#: 100198-10
Faction: The Exchange
Character level (for subtier determination): 1
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: need to check
Sorry for the delay in getting everything ready. My profile for both Gronkh and his horse Horace should be up and functional, though I haven't had a chance to add the information to the taglines yet. Will do that tomorrow. Also, Horace is a horse, despite the moose icon. Paizo's icon selection tool seems to be broken.
Johnny Brom |
Sure thing! The book is Occult Adventures, but the Abomination discipline can be found at Archives of Nethys.
At this level the only important parts are: It ups the DC's of my spells and makes me immune to fear.
GM Rinaldo |
Thanks. I haven't really read up on the Psychic class, and you are only the 2nd one I've GMed.
Sadaf Kargar |
Hello GM, did you register these games in the Gameday convention? We would certainly qualify. ;-)
GM Rinaldo |
No, when the convention was being set up I wasn't sure I would be free at the right time. This was just a normal "pick up" game that happened to start at the same time.
Sadaf Kargar |
I understand!
But it is still possible to register this game in the convention. We are in the correct period for gameday ... of course only if you want.
GM Rinaldo |
It has been over a week since Maelstrom last posted, and he hasn't responded to my PM. I do have someone who requested an alternate spot, so unless anyone has an objection, I'm going to tag them in at the end of this fight.
GM Rinaldo |
OK, still no response from Maelstrom. He is officially AWOL. I've messaged the alternate to come step in.
GM Rinaldo |
OK, I have a 1st level ratfolk alchemist on his way.
Given that you are halfway up a mountain where no one else in his right mind would be. I'm just going to retcon that Brakkik was here the entire time instead of Maelstrom. As soon as he checks in, I'll slide him into the initiative.
Brakkik |
And with a boom, he appeareth!
Player: Hawthwile
Character: Brakkik
PFS #: 264524-12
Faction: Grand Lodge
Level: Trap-Breaker Alchemist 1
Progression: Regular
Day Job: Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 10 + 5 = 34
Thanks for having me folks! Profile should be finished and on his page shortly.
GM Rinaldo |
And with a sickening twist of the space-time continuum, we suddenly find ourselves in a world where Brakkik was in the party rather than Maelstrom.
Brakkik, to account for the damage Maelstrom has done with two magic missiles, please expend a single bomb. You could easily have tossed one up into the nook before Danduun was up there, and I'll say you rolled max damage. Boom!
GM Rinaldo |
Sorry folks, I'm putting out fires at work this morning. I'll update as soon as I have time to breathe. ;-)
Juno Berik |
Hello everyone. This weekend is Thanksgiving so I will very likely be unable to fit in a post (though I'll try my best!). Please bot me if needed. My long weekend starts tomorrow and I’ll be back to regular posting on Tuesday. Thanks for understanding, and I hope you have a great weekend!
Juno's botting instructions:
- Climb up wall (and likely fall to her death)
- Grumble and complain
- If she happens to get up to the bug she'll fight with her axe
Juno Berik |
Haha! It's you crazy Americans that are always a month late to the party!
Brakkik |
Did we ever determine if this scenario is part of Gameday VII? As long as it's not much of a hassle for the GM, I'm always down for another chance to get boons!
GM Rinaldo |
It is not. I didn't even decide to run this until the gameday was already in progress.
Juno Berik |
I'm back and ready to get rolling! Thanks for your patience.
Brakkik |
Darn, I guess the website went down just as I was trying to edit that last post and put Brakkik's vocal tendencies in place. I guess you'll just have to pretend he spit out his bottle to explain.
Brakkik |
So as I understand it, our options are:
- Take 10 on climb checks down and up, using knotted ropes. DC is usually 5 for just a knotted rope or 0 for knotted rope with wall to brace against. I'm sure there are other modifiers, but we can take 10.
- Make Str checks (probably multiple) to cross, with failure meaning a potential catch (depending on everyone else's Str check) or a fall of 50 ft.
Personally, I'd rather use the take 10 option. It'll be much quicker than waiting for everyone to respond to a potential fall, and looks to be a lower DC as well. We might be able to make safety loops for climbing as well.
GM Rinaldo |
Wasn't feeling well today and spend much of the day in bed. I expect to be posting tomorrow.
Gronkh Maha |
Wasn't feeling well today and spend much of the day in bed. I expect to be posting tomorrow.
Hope you feel better soon! Take your time and take care of yourself.
GM Rinaldo |
Six extra hours of sleep did wonders! Of course, then I put in a full day of work going until about 9pm ...
But we're back in business!
GM Rinaldo |
Nah, I'm good. I tend to get really wiped out for a very short time by bugs like this, then I'm back in action. Generally a good dose of sleep is all I need. :)
Sadaf Kargar |
Then: It is great to have you back! :-D
