Aramil Wellys
Aramil moved closer with his last action - I was on my phone, so I couldn't move my token. He should be close enough for the light to have an effect.
Aramil uses his free hand to cast a spell, causing a piece of debris to fly from the ground and hit a goblin. He then again sings a song of inspiration as he holds the lantern high.
Action 1 & 2: Cast Telekinetic Projectile. Action 3: inspire courage cantrip.
Attack vs GB4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The rubble misses the goblin.
Zachary Arimaz
Zachary frowns as the small creature slips inside his reach and hits him. He barely feels it, but it's still annoying. He carefully steps back and attacks again, swiping somewhat uselessly back and forth.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 - 5 = 3
Brewmaster Ziggie Ironstout
"Let's try three for three!" Ziggie says as he finishes reloading an releases a third crossbow bolt at the remaining goblin. Hit or miss, he'll get the next bolt notched and the string pulled back for a future shot.
Aramil Wellys
Aramil continues singing an inspirational song, and again casts a spell to fling a rock at the remaining goblin.
Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
The rock again misses.
Gaetius Silanus
Seeing the goblin in front of him fall, Gaetius rushes over to help out Zac. Moving behind the last of the enemies he strikes twice with his sword, hoping to finish it off before anyone else gets hurt.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
Damage 1: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Attack 2: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 + 1 = 18
Damage 2: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
With Iomedae on his side, Gaetius cuts down the goblin in quick order, bringing the fight to a close for now.
I should be flanking with Zac, making the goblin flat-footed. Action 1 to stride, actions 2&3 to attack.
Zachary Arimaz
Zachary grimaces and carefully wipes the mess off of his glaive. He briefly mutters a prayer over the corpses, then nods to Gaetius.
"My thanks for the assistance. I believe... Lac...? has already moved on. We should not be alone down here I think," he says, walking after the elf.
Aramil Wellys
Aramil walks along, lantern in hand, to move along with the others. "She's just in the corridor, acting as a guard in case Goblins come from that direction. She hasn't gone too far ahead."
Brewmaster Ziggie Ironstout
In an efficient and casual manner, Ziggie grabs any daggers or crossbow bolts that are salvageable from the dead goblins before saying to the rest of the group "Lac there has the right idea. Let's sweep these remaining alcoves while she keeps an eye out that the rest of those filthy buggers haven't caught wind of us."
Gaetius Silanus
Gaetius proposes an alternate idea. "Why don't we secure one of the side alcoves, and then let me look at those of you who are wounded. I can try and patch you up, although it will take a few minutes, and if needed I can call upon Iomedae's favor to heal you.
We can try out the new Medicine rules - if I make a medium difficulty dc (should be a 13) Medicine check, I can restore LevelxCON mod hp on all of us, but it will take 10 minutes.
Aramil Wellys
Aramil nods. "I am uninjured, but it would be a good idea to heal those who are. We don't want to get ourselves killed bumbling into a bad situation."
The half-elven bard begins searching the alcoves, looking for any signs of danger.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Zachary Arimaz
"I am not opposed to avoiding infection," Zachary agrees, "I also have a small amount of skill with traditional healing."
Pretty sure you're better at it than me (I'm only +3). Do we still have aid another in this edition?
Gaetius Silanus
After finding a defensible, and unoccupied alcove, Gaetius takes off his pack and digs out his healer's tools. The cleric busies himself with cleaning and battlefield suturing up small wounds, applying salves and bandages to wounded areas when he is done. All the while he chats up his new allies, taking their measure now that they have seen some combat as a group. As he finishes and is packing up, Gaetius says "Well, that wasn't so bad, was it? How's everyone feeling now, ready to carry on?" Taking a good look at the still obviously wounded Derkut, and the not so amazing job he has done on everyone else, Gaetius says "Well, perhaps we will need a little more tending to" as he grasps his holy symbol.
Medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Sigh. Even with a successful aid I'd only get a +2, unless you critically succeed. So either I can take another 10 minutes and try this again, or I can start spending healing spells - I have 4.
Brewmaster Ziggie Ironstout
Ziggie tilts his head for Aramil to join him, and he occupies his time poking his crossbow into each alcove remaining in the room, looking carefully and specifically for any hidden goblins. If he doesn't see any, he'll proceed to thoroughly loot the dead goblins.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Assuming that goes smoothly, he steps in to the alcove with Gaetius and his patients and clicks his tongue in disapproval "That's looking like a piss-poor job there... gonna have to do more work pulling those sutures closed on ol' Derkut there."
He pours a mug of strong whiskey and hands it to Derkut, and as he proceeds to pour himself a mug of the same drink, he continues "Aye, it is an awfully wide gash, I'll give you that, but we really need to make sure it doesn't get infected what with all the gobbie filth that's gotten in there." and with that, instead of drinking his mugful, he quickly splashes it across Derkut's wound just as the halfling is distracted drinking from the first mug (assuming he does). Either way, Derkut becomes aware of the beverage's high alcohol content and disinfecting properties.
I'll Aid Another with Gaetius this second time around, and let Zachary have some time to poke around.
Medicine: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Ziggie spends almost as much time drinking as he does helping Gaetius.
Llaichrimosiach Ní Dorchaidhe
As the others heal, Lac keeps watch.
After nothing disturbs them (?), she signals to swap places with Ziggie, and goes to have her bruises and cuts tended.
Aramil Wellys
I believe Gaetius is referring to the new use of the Medicine Skill in Playtest Update 1.3, Treat Wounds, not Administer First Aid.
TREAT WOUNDS
Requirements You must use healer’s tools (see page 186).
You spend 10 minutes treating up to 6 injured living
creatures (targeting yourself as one of them, if you so choose), then
attempt a Medicine check. The DC is usually the medium DC for your
level, though the GM might adjust this DC due to circumstances, such as
trying to rest during volatile weather or when treating magically cursed
wounds. A given creature can be subject to only one Treat Wounds
attempt per 10-minute period, so two characters can’t treat the same
target’s wounds simultaneously.
Success You treat the patients’ wounds. Each patient recovers Hit
Points equal to its Constitution modifier × your level or equal to
just your level, whichever is higher.
Critical Success As success, but increase the healing by your level
× 3.
Critical Failure The patients are bolstered against your Treat Wounds.
Gaetius Silanus
Yes I was using the new medicine rule, thank you. I thought we were incorporating the latest updates, if I was incorrect I apologize.
Gaetius Silanus
Seems that way to me from the wording, but I guess it is up to GM Shadowtail. Anyways, I have 4 heals, and I can heal for 2d8+4 to an individual, or 4hp to all of you. Any thoughts on how I should spend those at this point?
Gaetius Silanus
Guess I will heal Derkut then.
Healing: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (8, 4) + 4 = 16
Gaetius holds on to his plain wooden symbol of Iomedae and chants a brief prayer in a quiet voice. The symbol, and his entire hand begin to glow, and he extends it out towards the wounded gnome. In an instant the wounds are gone, completely healed to by potent spell.
Zachary Arimaz
Zachary watches Gaetius heal the gnomes wounds and nods in satisfacton.
“I agree with the dwarf, we can discuss the principles of divine spellcraft once we are finished with our current task. I do not wish to be down here longer than necessary,” he grimaces at the filth around him.
Llaichrimosiach Ní Dorchaidhe
"I'm surprised that noise didn't draw any others. Would it be too much to hope they were the whole group? But no, none seemed like a natural leader."
Gaetius Silanus
Gaetius just shrugs at Derkut, and simply says "Iomedae provides for our well being." Then, nodding at Lac, he continues "We should move out, we've given anyone else down here long enough to prepare for us."
Did we check all the alcoves in this main chamber before we head east? If not we should do that, then move to the room with the water channel in it.
Aramil Wellys
Ziggy and I did that - we didn't get any results of our Perception checks, so I don't think there was anything.
Aramil picks up the lantern and says, "I concur. We need to keep moving so we can finish the goblins off."
---GM Shadowtail24---
lets define some terms here because i think i have misinterpreted some actions. There are 3 “rooms” off to the west of this room (A4/5/6). No one has explored those. There are numerous burial alcoves within the large room your in, those have been given a cursory search. If you would like to search one of the western rooms give me a room number please.
Gaetius Silanus
I meant A3/4/5, so we should check those out before moving on I think. Looks like we are up at A5, so do that first and then move down to 4 and 3?
Aramil Wellys
Humans: We have one lantern currently, and I'm holding it. I'm going to check out A5 with Gaetius first. If we have another lantern, someone can go with Zachary or give it to him.
Aramil follows Gaetius into the narrow passageway to one of the side rooms.
Gaetius Silanus
I have the light cantrip, so I'll illuminate something (his weapon, a necklace?) for Zachary, just in case we need light down there as well.
Llaichrimosiach Ní Dorchaidhe
Ziggie is the best for keeping guard, since he can see in the dark as well as the goblins, so won't give himself away with a light source.
I'll come back and have a root in whichever room has least people in.
Derkut Mar
Zach accepts the light from Gaetius and heads back to the front of the room and the small room off to the side.
Derkut frowns. He is out at night all the time so he doesn’t mind the dark, but he doesn’t like the dark. This unbroken oppressive darkness is a whole element unto itself.
He follows Zach to the front of the alcove, glad for the suddenly blinding light. He keeps Testil perched on his shoulder, knowing the bird can’t see any more than he can.
Brewmaster Ziggie Ironstout
"I'll swap out with yeh there elf. Just say mah name if you want to pull me off guard duty." the Brewmaster offers.
Staying in A2, Ziggie will hide by the pillar and aim his crossbow down the corridor to A6 while keeping watch.
