Johnnie opens his eyes and points the 'device' to determine the woman's temp.
Ambient temperature outside plus a degree.
You have to roll down her window or open the door. Otherwise you just get the temp off her window.
By looking at her it's pretty obvious she's been sick. Pale, hair is matted with perspiration. Bottles of flu medicine on the seat next to her.

Well, if nobody is gonna cap Honda girl before she changes...
Sarge begins moving the van down Bewicke Ave. As you slow down, on your right you pass the 'Sea to Sky Meeting Management Company' with some kind of small warehouse. It's looks like they organize and cater for conventions. You see some lights inside.
Then a small massage joint.
EP construction's shop and equipment yard, you see some men moving inside, and the flare of an arc welder.
North Shore Refrigeration. An industrial refrigeration company.
Popeye's Sailor Exchange. A consignment company for marine products. It looks like they might have a few boats in their yard.
If you can't find any boats down there you might have some luck in the Anton's Boat & Yacht dealership you just passed on your right, it's about the size of a football field and there's a speedboat in the showroom. The windows are broken out and there's some blood in the street.
Sarge has to pull over in front of Standard Building supplies because there is a snarl of abandoned cars filling the road. A few bodies litter the ground, too.
You are about 150 meters from the west part of the Marina. It looks like you can also cut across a parking lot to the east and get onto the eastern piers.

Patrick is looking more and more worried. He notes the sun going down and shivers.
"Guys, did any of you ever see Will Smith in the movie I am Legend? The cannibal zombies he fought were light-sensitive. Do you think maybe the reaon we haven't been blowing the heads off a lot of monkeypox victims on our way here is perhaps they have to hide until it gets dark?"
Patrick shivers, imagining all the buildings around him packed with sleeping A.S.E. victims.

Perception (1d20+7=19)
Johnny points his finger out onto the water past the barrier.
Everyone can see a cluster of boats with men on it. It looks like they're carrying rifles.

"SHIT! BORDER PATROL! ... Sorry... Kind of a reflex action..."
Mike O'Neill
Patrick frowns when he sees the boats and the men with guns.
"I WISH it was the Border patrol, they at least have rules. These guys are probably scared sh*tless and trigger happy. We think of getting a bull horn on our shopping trip?"
"Um... No, but we could probably yell really f#$*in' loud. Voices tend to carry when there's nobody around, you know."

Your van is stopped at the X.
It can't move forward because people just abandoned their cars here while fleeing.
Boats are much less numerous that in the aerial photo.
At (1) you can see some boats with armed men.
At (2) you have barges that form a barrier around the marina.
At (3) you have a building, the Waterfront Complex, that looks down on everything.

Patrick looks at the others
"I think two of us should go forward and scout the situation out. I volunteer, will someone come as wingman? I figure we can sneak up, get into the parking lot at the end, hide behind that dock building and see if we can shout loud enough for the boat dudes to hear."
"I'll go. Mainly because I'm too stupid to know better."
Mike O'Neill
Mike strips off his shirt (revealing a massive, oddly incongruous tattoo on his chest) and boots. He pulls a battered, but razor-sharp hunting knife out of one of his boots.
In the middle of rolling up his pant legs, he freezes, the color draining out of his face.
"Oh, F@&$! F~!~ f& F&&%! F&&$!"
He straightens, looking stricken.
"Sarge, man, you ever read World War Z? F*~* it, there's gonna be Zs in the water..."
Sgt. Curtin
Patrick looks stricken at Mike's suggestion
"Hopefully these zombies still need to breathe. we haven't seen any real 'undead' traits like that book had. Hell, in that story the Zs were almost indestructible. Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst."
Patrick looks around for a handy knife to carry.

"Um, hey, I got a pipe wrench back in the Camaro if you want it..."

Holy shit man, I don’t get online for a day and there’s a page of posts to catch up on!
“Sorry guys, I zoned out for a sec there,” says Dave. He’s thinking about Honda woman, wondering if they should have stopped to help, put her out of her misery, whatever. He shakes his head. “Where are you trying to get to exactly man? Maybe we should all move forward together, no point in us splitting up and getting picked off one by one by zombies or over zealous survivers – you’re a long way out if you’re heading out to the end of that pier … I probably couldn’t even cover you that effectively with the sniper rifle.
“Listen, I can move fast, and I can be pretty quiet when I need to be too. So can Sam,” he looks at the girl and grins. “Yeah man, I heard you sneak back into the hostel that time in San Fran, but only just … anyway, lets all go. If I spot somewhere along the way I can get some height and cover you, I might take it, just in case things get nasty.”

Holy s@*! man, I don’t get online for a day and there’s a page of posts to catch up on!
Ditto. There was like, a couple of posts a day for a little while there, then BAM!
Sam blushes a bit at Dave's remark and quickly puts her mask on to cover it.
"I'm with Dave on this one guys. I don't think we should be splitting up here. If we can all move up together then maybe Dave and I will be able to get into covering positions with the two Sniper Rifles while the rest of you engage them in conversation."
She stops and tries to get a better look at the Marina.
"Or maybe we should just avoid that section entirely and head over to our left there towards that building on the other side of the Marina. Look at the boats docked down in there. We may not even need to get near those guys if we head out of the Marina on the other side from them. I don't see why they wouldn't let us pass and a boat will probably have a radio in it that we can use to contact their boat with. Better than trying to sneak up on them and risk being shot at. Just another idea to throw into the mix."
Oh, and I think you got (2) and (3) on the map mixed up Kruel (or at least I hope you did). =)
Sgt. Curtin
Patrick nods at the suggestions
"I was just figuring that someone should stay with Lucretia here in case we needed a quick getaway, but you do have a point. Splitting up could be a wicked bad thing to do."
Patrick grabs an axe.
"Let's move forward together and just lock up Lucretia. I doubt we have to worry much about looters for the moment. Let's deal with what we have to before sunset. I have a bad feeling about nightfall."
Samantha Bastian
"Yeah I'm not too keen to be out on the streets at night. It will make it way harder to see approaching Z's. I would very much hope to be out on the water by then. Which does beg an interesting question. Do we make land on the other side while it's still dark, or wait till morning? Personally I would prefer morning. We should get some sleep on the boat, we are gonna need it so we should take it where we can. We can only run on adrenaline for so long. Also, making landing at night will be very hard. We will be in a very precarious position if we get attacked or ambushed, whether by Z's or nutjobs. We probably don't have to come to a consensus about this right now, but it's just food for thought."
With that, Sam starts to unload her Guns and Ammo Bags from the back of the truck. It's gonna be tricky with the Beowulf, the H&K Sniper Rifle in it's case and two Backpacks full of Ammo and a Shoulder Bag full of Food and Water, but she thinks she can manage them.

Driving through Anton's front window with the forklift and driving out with the speedboat sounds doable. How hard could it be to hotwire a forklift?
On the other hand, something bigger might be more comfortable for sleeping on. There are a few small yachts in the marina boatyard, too. It seems likely that no matter where you take the boats after plucking them, though, that the guys on the water will know about it.
