Patrick nods to Sam

"Be careful Sam, God knows what all is out there. Take it slow and easy."

Patrick returns his gaze to the stockroom door, listening for any sign of someone coming.


The back roll down bay door is locked as is the small metal door beside it.

The stockroom door is closed and quiet. The freezers hum.

Does either door have a padlock, or just normal locks? If padlocks, Sam's gonna go back to the van and see if there is a pair of boltcutters to snip it.


No external locks, but Sam's Beowulf should leave nothing but a 3 inch hole where the doorknob is.


“Sorry about that Sam,” Dave says in a lowered voice. “I shoulda checked if it was locked. Yeah … I’ll be back up on the roof.” He scoots his way back up to his former position.

Into the WT. "OK Pat. The doors back here are locked, but I can blow one with my Beowulf. Problem is, that may attract some unwanted attention, so be ready to back me up if I need it OK."
"Dave. Keep a look out up there and see if this brings in some strays."

Sam aims the Beowulf at the lock and pulls the trigger, (Just tell me if you need a roll Kruel) blowing a hole in the door. She brings up the Beowulf and cautiously pushes open the door with the gun.
Into the WT. "Right Pat, I'm going in now. See you in a minute." "Hopefully," she mutters under her breath before slowly entering the building with the Beowulf raised and ready.

The shot reverberates off the bare walls in the loading dock enclosure - Sam's ears are ringing.

Inside, Sarge hears the shot and a clatter of doorknob pieces bouncing across the floor, and then the sound of footsteps.


“That’ll do it,” mutters Dave, tightening his grip on the rifle and scanning for any lurking Z’s nearby who might be attracted to the noise.

“I hope Alex is grabbing those supplies ok.”


Alex passes the magazine racks. They have Playboy.


“Sooner or later we’re going to get bored. I hope Alex grabs some suitable reading material.”


Patrick remains ready for whatever occurs

Gonna be off and on next two days, DMPC me if it becomes neccessary


Johnnie maintains his vigilance.


I have a map but can't post it now. Hopefully tonight when I get my software installed again.

Mike pulls canned goods down from the shelves, pausing only to snag a few magazines off the rack. Playboy, MAD, Guns and Ammo, Tattoo World, Sports Illustrated, Time, and LoudFastRules (he's a bit surprised that that one's still going). One copy each.


It occurs to Mike that the babe on the cover of Playboy is probably trying to eat human flesh right now.


And not in a good way.

With that, Sam enters the building via the back door.

I'm at work without the map, so here's the scoop as I remember:

You are in the stockroom. Boxes of received goods are stacked here, unshelved.

The All-Star has been all over this room judging from the bloody tracks and scattered body parts, but is nowhere to be seen. As you enter, to your right (south) you recognize the inside of the stock room doors past which Sarge waits. Behind you to your right is a hallway leading off (west) to the back of the backside of the refrigeration shelves, there are several rooms (east) with the doors closed - possibly an office and staff room.

You hear a noise to your right (you aren't sure about the direction though) - it's barely audible above the screaming of your eardrums.

Something is happening and we are on the verge of combat. What Sam does is really important so lets just wait and see.


Cool. Dave is currently focused on keeping an eye (and ear) out for external threats (for example, zombies in the neighbourhood attracted to the noise of gunshots. Let me know if you want a Perception check. However, he’s stationed himself on the roof adjacent to the nearest point down to the external door that Sam entered through in case she yells for help.


Patrick trips the WT

"I'm coming in Sam. "

Listen: 1d20=20, Stealth: 1d20+4=12

Patrick approaches the stockroom door, his senses honed to a razor edge with adrenaline.


Sarge's voice echos loudly through the stockroom startling Sam.

Perception. (1d20=13)

Sam starts as she hears Pat's voice come over the WT. She looks cautiously around the room, alert for anything or anyone out of the ordinary.

Some of you have probably seen the map so I didn't bother blacking out the closed rooms. My description from memory was a little off but nothing we can't adapt to.

Counters are small on it - Mike is down south in periodicals. Johnny is on the west side, near the door. Judd on the roof where he can drop down fast.

Before you look into the stock room you think you hear a noise coming from the freezers.

Sam swings the Beowulf around to cover the access behind the freezers where she 'thinks' she heard the noise.
I'm assuming the lights are on Kruel, but if they aren't Sam will look around for a light switch and flick it on.
She very slowly starts to make her way across the room towards the stockroom door to meet up with Patrick. She glances around the room out of the corner of her eyes, blood pumping in her ears and almost drowning out any other noise.
As she backs past each row of shelving, she quickly whips the gun around to see what is down there. She also tries to keep a careful eye on the doors leading into the rooms.
Once she reaches the stockroom door, she will either see Sarge coming through, or whispers into the WT, telling him that she is just inside the door and not to shoot her as he comes through. Once they are together.
"OK. This main stockroom area seems to be clear. I think I heard a noise coming from down there," she points down the access corridor towards the freezers. "I would probably like to check these rooms here first before we head down into that confined corridor, just in case. Don't want to be caught in the middle of some freaky Zombie ambush! I'll check each room, you cover me and keep an eye on that corridor. I am really starting to think that your All Star friend isn't going to be too friendly, judging from the mess out here." She points to the body parts and blood, without actually looking at them, screwing up her face and shivering slightly.
So in order, she'll check out Room #22, then 21, then 20. Then she'll head over to 14. Once they reach 14 she'll stop and we can run from there. I've covered a lot of ground there, so if at any time during that you want to stop for something to happen then be my guest.
She eases open the door to Room #14 and has a quick glance around. She notices the door on the other side of the room and heads over, thinking it to be a cupboard. It instead opens into another room, with another door. "Damn Pat. There's another room back here with another door. I don't know how many there will be and I'm a bit wary about getting stuck in here with no where else to go. Do you think I should keep going, or come back out and we'll try to lock the outer door?


Patrick trips the WT and whispers.

"Sam I'm coming in. I think I hear something in the freezers ...might be a zombie. Lets rondezvous with Dave."

Where exactly on the map are the freezers with the noise K?

Patrick moves to open the stockroom door.


After Sam points down the corridor running to the north, where she heard the noise.

Sam begins checking the rooms while Sarge covers the corridor and keeps the inner stock room door open. The outer door has swung closed, leaving Alex/Mike by himself on the grocery stores sales floor somewhere near the magazine racks.

After casting his eye over the carnage and taking note of the fact that they seem butchered, as in having been carefully cut up, Sarge begins thinking about the freezers. See #17 and #8 on the map.

Mike starts raiding the candybar racks near the check-out counters.

Judd hears gunfire in the distance, coming from the mountains.

Johnny sits nervously in the van taking the temperature of everything with his ranged thermograph.

The rubber flooring near the driver's side of the engine firewall is 45 degrees. That seems about normal. Hehe.

OK thought there was a walk in freezer I was missing. So somethings trapped in the display freezers?

Sorry- yesterday, work was really bad... Sorted magazines all morning, then had to help run a community bottle drive for six hours, all on about two hours of sleep. I basically came home and crashed.

Sarge stalks toward Sam, weapon ready, and as he reaches the head of the hallway that leads to the freezer access there is a tremendous clamour: clattering metal, thunking, and breaking glass.

From the far side of the store, somewhere near the freezers, you hear what sounds like shelves and stock spilling out onto the main floor of the grocery store.


Something is going down. Please post 6 seconds worth of action.

Mike draws his revolver and backs against a wall.


Patrick runs to the entrance of the freezer access, rifle at the ready. He looks for a good angle to cover the entryway.

Trying to get to around where Dave is on the map, so can cover whatever comes 'round the corner.


Dave is on the roof, looking around, but keeping an ear on the whispered chatter on the WT. Hearing Pat say “might be a zombie. Lets rondezvous with Dave." He prepares to climb down, but is momentarily distracted by the sounds of distant gunfire.

“Damn,” he mutters. “They’re out there too … so much for a camping trip…” Taking one last glance around, and shouldering his rifle, he climbs down, then draws his Glock and looks about for Sam and Pat.

One round’s action: Climb down to stand near external dock door. Draw weapon.

Blood is pumping as Sam bolts back into the storeroom and swings the Beowulf around to cover the access hallway.
Into the WT, not caring about whispering anymore: "Sh!t Dave we definately have something going on down here. Alex, get your arse out to the van now and load as much stuff as you can. Johnnie get the van ready to go and help Alex load. Pat and I will check out in here, but everyone be ready if we have to high tail it."

Move, Talk (covering corridor). Round 1 **Ding Ding**

As he already posted: Dave is one level up on the roof.

You are charging west with a grocery cart full of loot. The wheels are shimmying and you've just passed the dead body near the grocery entrance when you look north and see a blood soaked man coming out of the freezers in a cascade of lollipop boxes and stainless steel shelving. He is prone and holding what looks like a cleaver. You hear the van rev outside.

You are at the rear entrance of the store on the loading docks. You hear shouting inside.

Lucretia, or whatever Sarge calls the van is running hot and ready. The coast is still clear.
