Actually, I missed the update. On my way to shoot at the witch.

Are people waiting to see if Lena goes down before they continue their actions? I'll roll for her Soak and stuff then, just in case. Let's see how she does...
[dice=Vigor; Soak]d8
[dice=Wild]d6She takes a Wound, so now she has two. She still has one Benny left.
Next time I update in Gameplay I'll give you an update on Malik.
If you take a wound, you're automatically shaken and then you can only take free actions unless you make a raise on a Spirit check on your turn, correct?
And you don't get a Spirit check the same round as the wound unless you use a Benny?
Jon, The Evil DM
Sort of. There was some errata on being Shaken. You no longer have to Raise in order to act on your turn; you just need to succeed. If you are wounded you are also Shaken; if you roll to Soak that wound and succeed in soaking all wounds inflicted by that attack, you also aren't shaken. Normally you do roll to unshake until your turn comes around, but you can also spend a Benny at any time to automatically unshake.
Borax Bohan
Ah, that's why I was confused about people acting without a raise on being Shaken.
But any wound that you don't soak, leaves you Shaken, which you don't roll for until your turn, correct?

Welcome. FYI, all rookies have to carry the luggage. And since this is a special ops group, there is a LOT of luggage, and it's really heavy.
Jacob Farrell

Second rule: Never carry Jacob's luggage. It's his, and it might or might not be composed at least partially of highly volatile and reactive... completely legal stuff, oh, hello there Miss Moshad lady I wholeheartedly welcome to our group.
Jon, The Evil DM
Nice to have you guys aboard!
You both can jump in whenever you want, actually. You've just arrived and were directed to the room with the other PCs. I'm fine with you guys arriving on your own, I'll give a little bit of introduction and you can jump in.

...Richard is constantly on the border of 'unprofessional behaviour'...
I call dibs on training this rookie.
Listen here, you chummer, when the higher ups ask what will you need for the mission, always add at least three explosives, a bottle of fine whiskey and a tank.
One of these days they'll give us the tank...

Hey all, posting this in all my games to let people know I'll be away for a few days. My family is headed to camp later today, and I won't have Internet or my computer while I'm there. I should be back and posting Friday afternoon/evening (Eastern Time), but please push the game as needed, botting my character if you need to do so. Thanks!
Jon, The Evil DM
Yikes, these have been some long posts... I'm wearing myself out, here.
If anyone has more pointed questions for the general, feel free to just ask them here or in character, depending. If it's background stuff for the new people I'd prefer it be asked here as I can explain it out-of-character, but questions about anything current are fine for Gameplay. I'm giving you all a chance here to speak with each other or interact in character for a bit, and then I'll move us along. I'll be drawing cards for Interludes here soon enough--for those of you new to Savage Worlds, I'll explain what they are when the time comes--and then we'll be off on another mission. Most of you will get randomized topics but two of you have specific things I'm intending to give you as a topic.
Also, in looking to double-check the name of your pilot, I learned that I inadvertantly renamed the lieutenant who is your liaison while on missions. I originally named him as Wingham and apparently immediately changed it to Winger. Whoops. As a point of reference, in the future you can communicate with him as you wish. He effectively serves as a way for me as the GM to communicate with you directly and efficiently about questions you might have that someone in XCOM command could theoretically answer. He may also be more active on my end for certain missions.

So what's our situation with gear? Are there better weapons, armor, hi-tech gadgets?
Also, on the benny thing, Does Borax just get four bennies one time?
Jon, The Evil DM
You don't yet have any higher tech gear, no. We'll reach a point where you'll have the option to get new stuff, but it's not quite yet; I may give you guys the option of what you would rather have from a tree of options, or just dole stuff out. Which would you all prefer?
Yes, just once you will get four bennies. Of course, if you don't use any by the next time your Bennies refresh it doesn't expire. Just once you spend it, you won't get it back again.
PS: Updates tomorrow, this week was busy and I'm currently looking for a job. I'll be moving us into Interludes and then we'll start our next mission as well.
Jon, The Evil DM
Interlude prompts are up! You each get a chance to tell your story, narrating as you would like. More or less everything is in your control at this point. If your story needs you to be playing darts or pool or having a waiter show up to interrupt you, that's fine! You're in charge of your Interlude, based on the prompt provided. I'll give people a few days to each post up their own Interlude, and those who participate earn a Benny.
Jon, The Evil DM
Everything all good here? I've only heard from two of you. It's only been a few days, but I want to make sure people understand what's going on with this. We've been moving a little slowly at times (I'd love to speed us up some, to be honest) but I'm alright with it as long as it isn't because anyone is confused.
Jacob Farrell
|
Have no excuse, it simply slipped my mind. Which is a bad thing that I intend to fix in the morning.
Jon, The Evil DM
Could our two stragglers try to get their stuff up by Monday? I'm going to move us along Monday evening, so I'd love it if we could do so. If not, you can post them afterward but I'd like us to be finished with these before we go into other stuff.
Jacob, feel free to also post about visiting your family if you wish. The general does give you leave to go and see them.
Jacob Farrell

I can't even apologize. It's simply that I couldn't write something I did enjoy reading.
Since you moved us into the Interlude I knew the story, but the words weren't flowing. THat said, good or not (I hope yes), tonight will be.
Sorry, anyway.
Jon, The Evil DM
So, I sent Rosa a message to see if there was a reason no one responded to my post, and guess who discovered their post got eaten? I'll give you a hint, he's got two thumbs and his name rhymes with Ron. I'll put one up some time today.
Richard Makeba
Hi all!
I'm just warning you, I'm about to finish my final bachelor's degree project, so my posting might be patchy in the next week-ish. I'll still try and post, but it's possible that a day or two might pass where I'd be unable to do so, so feel free to bot me!
Since this is looking to be a more RP situation going to town, I'll try and add On The Train spoilers if I've missed some RP situations.
Jon, The Evil DM
Richard Makeba
Hey guys! Quick update, I mentioned I will be scarcely posting this week, as I'm just about wrapping up with university, period.
In addition, my laptop had honorably passed away, luckily the day after I handed in my final report. I'll be looking into getting it fixed, but for now I'll be posting scarcely, if I find somewhere to do it from. I'd ask you to bot me, if possible, and I'll try and get on with the game ASAP.
Cheers, and sorry!
Jon, The Evil DM
I'm not certain, but I'm getting the sense we're all ready to get on the train and head out? I know Richard and Naomi are MIA for a little bit and that's fine, but if you're still able to post and are ready to go, just let me know here and I'll move us along. I just don't want to do so until I'm sure you're all ready to go.
Borax Bohan
Borax is overconfident that any plans will work. So he's ready.

Funnily, Jacob always works under the assumption that any plan is doomed from the word go and will need the liberal application of explosives to unf%$+ it.
That makes him overconfident in his cyinicism and C4.So let's go undercoverly and slyly kick some alien asses.

Hey. Quick heads up. My sister is going away to college for the first time this weekend and the whole family is going with to help her move in. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and I should have internet, but my posting may be slower than usual until Sunday.

Posting later today, I fancy myself writing some pure incoherent Irish RP text!
Also, on the matter of equipment: what are we bringing and in which amounts? Not like I want to blow up the entire town but I want to be sure I could if I needed.
Borax Bohan
Borax is wearing his EXofficos and his vintage 1980's Members Only leather jacket.
I think that's worth at least two extra Bennies, am I right?
Gavril Vasilescu
I assumed tomahawk, survival knife, and pistol for Gavril, and then appropriate civilian clothing for his role as bodyguard/manservant/personal aide. That probably means a flexible, comfortable suit, or at least somewhat formal attire.
Oh, and sick shades. Can't forget those.

Is he... is he wearing pants with those? Because my immediate mental image was a black man with an air of authority walking through the streets of a small British town in nothing but a pair of stylish boxer-briefs and a badass leather jacket. Not to say that wouldn't garner attention, although perhaps not the kind you want.
Jon, The Evil DM
Borax, I may not have been clear; if you don't pass the Smarts roll, you won't notice what happens to the others. If you want you can spend a Benny and I'll give you the success, since your Notice roll would have been the next Smarts roll and it would have succeeded. Alternately, you can wait for one of the other characters to physically break you from the trance you're in. However, that does carry a small penalty.
Borax Bohan
How do I not notice the others talking about something that's just happened to them?
Jon, The Evil DM
It's the trance. You haven't broken out of it, so you don't notice things are amiss. I have no plans to keep anyone out of the game for any long period of time, but being jostled out of the trance by another team member (and not passing the Smarts roll) carries a point of Fatigue. As I said, burning a Benny would alleviate the penalty, or you can take the point of fatigue. I don't think I was very clear about that in my original post, so I apologize. You won't lose the Notice roll results either way, but a -1 from Fatigue is what's up in the air here.
