Greetings! I'm looking for 5 or 6 PCs to have a go at the Wrath of the Righteous AP. Want to create Mythic PCs, descend into the horrors of the Worldwound and battle the abyssal hordes therein? Look no further!
I should be able to post at least one substantial post every day, and likewise, I hope my players will be able to contribute something to the game on a daily basis as well. I do have other commitments, such as work and family, so I don't expect the game to move at a breakneck pace; probably more of a moderate, one or two posts a day, pace.
If you want to play, please first download and read the free Player's Guide. Ultimately, I would like to select PCs each with different Campaign Traits, and desired Mythic Paths. Please reply with a character concept including race/class, alignment, campaign trait and desired Mythic Path, and also a bit of background and description. You need not write more than a couple of paragraphs, and no stats are needed at this time. Mostly, I want a sense of your writing style, and evidence that you've put at least a bit of thought into a player character. I'll choose the five or six which resonate with me most strongly, while also considering party balance.
PC Creation Guidelines:
-20 point buy
-Average Starting Gold
-No evil alignments
-2 Traits (one campaign, one other)
-Most Paizo published material will be allowable, although I confess that I am one of those DM's who is a little leery of Summoners. You'll have to wow me to get in if you pitch one, fyi. If your idea is really far off the beaten path, run it by me first and I'll let you know what I think.
I'll keep the recruiting period open for a few days, but if I get flooded with intriguing character concepts, I may close things up early. In any case, I'll be sure to give 24 hours' notice before closing recruitment. I'm looking forward to your ideas!

Good afternoon! Glad to see another one of these open up! Putting a dot here for interest, March Hare. I haven't had a chance to look at the Player's Guide yet (downloading it now) but my character concept right now is an Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer) who worships Sarenrae. As soon as I've gotten a look at the player's guide I'll get a fully fleshed-out character profile posted.
Vaashti C'tan
I would like to submit Vaashti C'tan, tiefling merciful healer, for this AP. I can easily update her once I have had a chance to rad the Mythic book (I haven't gotten it yet) and go through the player's guide tonight.
In essence, she was a prostitute, one with healing magics and a sense of justice that no man can ever understand. She has been called to the Worldwound crusade by her goddess, the one she holds as the sustainer of her life and the source of all justice in the world.
Riftwarden Orphan seems to fit well as a campaign trait, especially since Vaashti never knew her father. Be willing to share that with someone else if it comes up.
The March Hare
Interesting. Would a Lawful Neutral priest of Razmir (a bard of the demagogue archetype) be acceptable here? I'm not sure, mind, but I'd be interested in playing.
Of course, that's probably not suited to the campaign, so I might make something more combat suited.
I'm a little hesitant on this concept, mostly due to my doubt that a persuasive Razmiran would be able to play nicely with a good-aligned party of demon fighters. I'd need a really strong background and a good understanding of your PC's motives to give it the green light.
Winwaar
Yeah, that's sort of what I suspected. I'll save the concept for a different game, and maybe make something else intriguing. A dervish of Sarenrae? Hm... Or perhaps a half-elf or aasimar sorcerer of some sort? A half-orc paladin of the Redeemer archetype? I shall endeavor to think more on this matter.
Aaliyah El-Amin
This one I apped over in Voice of the Voiceless' thread, so she's currently at a 25-Point Buy but I can adjust easily enough. The campaign traits also weren't live when the game went up...but probably taking the Touched by Divinity trait for reasons that I hope will be obvious, choosing the Fire domain to get a casting of Burning Hands. As for Mythic path....to be kind of frank, it's early days for settling on that, since at least /some/ is going to depend heavily on how the party gels together (Bards being nothing if not adaptable) but if I had to guess right now most likely Champion or Trickster. I might be persuaded to actually go with the suggested Heirophant for a more casting-oriented approach to the Mythic abilities, but I would obviously need to be allowed to treat the Bardic spell list as divine for purposes of the path for that to be worthwhile.

Wanted to add to the brief character concept I posted earlier, March Hare, to see what you thought of it before I write the full profile:
Ifrit Dervish Dancer of Sarenrae following the Champion mythic path. He was kidnapped from his home as a child because of his Ifreeti heritage, the cultists who snatched him believing that his legacy of the plane of fire would further stoke the flames of their ritual.
Of course, things didn't work as they planned, and now he seeks to bring the Dawnflower's flame to the cultists and deal a blow to the demons they were serving as well.
EDIT: Another concept I've had in mind recently is a Dwarven Paladin (Stonelord) aiming for the Guardian mythic path. I haven't figured out a backstory for him yet, and I know that sacrificing the Smite Evil ability is probably the last thing you wanna do on this AP, but the flavor of a Stonelord is very appealing to me for some reason.
Mirel
Here is my inquisitor as promised. She is an inquisitor of Calistria with the vengeance inquisition. For her, I took the Touched by Divinity trait, and will probly go towards Heirophant with her. Her background is also in her profile. I am posting both because I would be willing to go either route, depending on the parties needs. That being said, I like this character better than my paladin and if given a choice will choose her.
leinathan
Dotting. I'll make a character based on what's necessary later, but I have a few ideas that I'm wondering what you think of already.
If a pure martial character is needed: An orc who, in an effort to prove himself and be accepted into society, goes to the Worldwound to crusade and protect people.
If a divine caster is needed: A dhampir oracle that, given foul and profane powers by his bloodline, decides that the only thing his life is worth is to die trying to make the lives of less cursed people a little safer.

Mirel updated background.
Mirel was born in Egorian, in Cheliax. Her mother was a slave from Varisia who had been abused by her Chelaxian Tiefling master. That master became Mirel's father. While being taught about the different religions of Golarion, Mirel found no interest in Asmodeous. Instead, she had a strange affinity toward the Savored Sting, Calistria; goddes of lust, guile, and revenge. Her father/master often beat her and bullied her, attempting to force her to follow Asmodeous, but she never developed an offensive response. Instead she bided her time, and promised her revenge.
When her father told her he was going to sell Mirel into slavery for her insolence, Mirel prayed to Calistria for aid. She vowed her service to the Savored Sting, if only the goddess would help her get away. She vowed vengeance on all people like him, and all those who have the taint of Hell or the Abyss in their blood, especially demons and devils themselves.
Calistria answered.
The night before her father was going to set sail for Okeno and the Flesh Fairs, he got extremely drunk. In his inebriated state, he forgot to lock the door to her or her mother's room. Mirel waited until he heard the man snoring, and then silently crept out of her room to her mother's. Together they fled.
They traveled on foot all the way from Egorian toward Korvosa. The journey was long, and arduous. On the way there, a young cleric took pity on them and fed and lodged the two figuitves. After a few days, he agreed to take them in his wagon the rest of the way to Korvosa. Once there, Mirel kept her promise.
She went to the temple of Calistria almost immediately. The clerics provided Mirel's mother a home and gave Mirel her own chambers within the temple to conduct her business. Mirel became a temple courtesan, and quickly became one of the most successful. She began training immediately to become an inquisitor for the Savored Sting and to elimate demons and devils all over Golarion.
To further keep her promise, Mirel has traveled to Mendev to join the Crusades and stop the evil entering the world through the Worldwound.

Yow, we headed out to dinner and a movie, and there's been all kinds of interest while I was out. Excellent!
I'll be keeping things brief tonight, because we're having a family night. I'm enduring a bit of a dirty look from the better half as I type this, in fact. :)
Still, keep the concepts coming, and I'll be back with more on the morrow. Thank you one and all!
Phillip0614
Here's what I've got for my first submission here, March Hare. Are you opposed to people submitting more than one character? I know I wouldn't have two characters chosen for the game, but I'd also be interested in designing the aforementioned Dwarven Stonelord and submitting him to see where that goes. Thank you!
Aodhan himself, though, would say it is something else entirely...something more sinister than most would imagine. As a child, Aodhan Quinn was a typical young Ifrit: brash, headstrong, independent, and hot-headed. Unfotunately, this impulsiveness would often get him in trouble with locals, as it often wound up taking him places he shouldn't have been and doing things he shouldn't have been doing. It was inevitable, of course, that his impetuous nature would one day get him into some more serious trouble...he just had no idea how deep into it he would get.
Out exploring some abandoned buildings, a strange sound caught his ear which he just had to investigate. When he did so, he happened upon a ritual being conducted by a group demon-worshipping cultists. Fascinated and frightened at the same time, he tried to find a good hiding place where he could watch what was going on, but his hiding place wasn't good enough. He was discovered by one of the cultists, who immediately recognized him as a being descended from the plane of fire.
The cultist who found him immediately decided that the adolescent could be of use to the group: the ritual sacrifice to their demon patron would certainly be better accepted if their sacrifice was himself a descendant of a being of flame. Unfortunately, the ritual didn't work quite as the cultists had intended. Whatever their intention, some sort of energy surge through the summoning circle they had drawn on the floor swirled through the chamber, the brute force of the energy causing all of the cultists to fall to the floor unconscious. Untouched in the center of the ritual circle, Aodhan made a hasty escape, getting away from that place as quickly as he could.
After finding his way back to civilization and revealing the location of the cultists to those who could do something about it, Aodhan found himself with a new motivation and a new passion: destroying he spent as much time as he could seeking out demonic cults, first to report their existence to those who could do something about them, and then, once able, to do something about them himself. Since that day, his behavior has had a very different motivation. No longer does he act with near-complete disregard for his actions, but he seeks to rid the world of any who would seek to do harm to a child as was nearly done to him. He found himself drawn to the faith of Sarenrae, the Dawnflower, even believing his Ifreeti heritage to be a manifestation of the divine purpose Sarenrae intended for him. He has even taken up the blade of the Everlight in seeking to fulfill her purposes, preferring a single scimitar over other weapons and training himself in the flowing, graceful combat style so commonly seen in Sarenrae's acolytes.
Tiring of seeking prey in other regions of the Inner Sea, Aodhan has made his way northward to the crusader city of Kenabres in Mendev, believing that his sword and the fire of Sarenrae will be put to better use closer to the source of so much of the demonic activity plaguing the Inner Sea.

I've wanted to try a divine hunter paladin, but it looks like we're getting a lot of paladin submissions (which only makes sense, really, given the campaign).
If there's no problem on your end with multiple pallys, I'll be happy to draw her up more formally (probably human, female, and tentatively from Ustalav). If you'd like a bit more diversity in roles, I'd be happy to throw a rogue into the applicant pool-- the Worldwound's got to have some traps for a Sanctified Rogue to nimbly disarm, eh? Bringing some skills to the group as well as a desire to redeem a spotty past in one big Job for the Ages...

I have a couple of ideas, but what I'm going to go with is this:
Haytham Afham is of Osiriani descent, but he has grown up near the world wound. His skin is as dark as the cloud over his heart.
As a young child, he was with his parents, one a Pathfinder and the other a warrior of great skill. They had been out searching for some ruins that his father had been sent to find, and were fell upon by a pack of dretches. His father was dropped by a quick assault. His mother fought them back away from him, but it was not enough and eventually, she too fell to the demons. Finally, as the blade of one of the last remaining demons was about to drive into his skull, the beast found an arrow in his face. Falling back to a rain of arrows, the beasts were pushed back as a beautiful woman with a bow moved forward, putting herself between the young boy and the demons.
After it was over, she made sure he was ok and a group of crusaders would find him. Before she left, she whispered, "May Desna keep your dreams safe, at least." And the woman was gone.
He viewed that moment as the moment that decided his entire life. He followed her ideals, worshiping Desna, carrying a blade, but he still clutched to his mother's precious falchion. He spent his life trying to learn how to track and kill demons. (Ranger, Trickster)
dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16
While he is just as devoted to the cause of defeating the demons as his parents are, in personality he is very different than their calm, measured approach to battle and life. Sajani believes life should be lived, enjoyed, embraced-- experienced for what joy it may offer, since, especially on the front lines of the Crusade, life is often short. He believes strongly in the ability of the individual to make a difference. He is a clever young man, and has some interest in magic, but not the discipline for formal arcane study-- instead, he uses his wits to try and approach problems from different directions. A childhood spent running Kenabres' fortified rings and many rooftops has left him athletic and quick.
It was always understood, to him, that his life in Kenabres was merely extended training for the time when he too would join his parents in the field. He waited impatiently for that day, and when it came, tried to prove his worth in scouting ahead... without orders to do so. He was beyond lucky in that this youthful impulse didn't end his life...
Or perhaps luck had nothing to do with it. Sajani firmly believes the woman who guided him back to the other crusaders was a manifestation of Desna, even if she does not really fit the traditional depictions of Desna at all. Believing that divine intervention kept him alive, he became somewhat less foolhardy-- if his life has a holy purpose, then he had better stay alive to fulfill it, after all.
He is young, but determined. Whatever destiny awaits, he intends to bring honor to his mother and father, and dreams of the day that perhaps, this war can be ended and they can return to the homeland that he has never seen.

Zenjike has come a long, long way to the Worldwound. Her home is in the Mwangi expanse, one of a hundred humble riverside villages. Zenjike was one of the village hunters-- pursuing game into the jungle and on the savannahs with bow and arrow. It is possible her life might never have taken her beyond the relatively small confines of village life, if not for the bloodthirsty, demon-worshiping apes of Usaro.
On one hunting trip that took her far afield and near the borders of the Usaro territory, a raiding band of the apes spotted her and pursued her. Though she ran well and long, she was taken captive and dragged back to the dreadful, white ziggurats of Usaro. Her soul would be sacrificed to dread Anghazan; her skin flayed for their drums.
But the ritual did not go as planned. At the height of the demonic rite, a blinding flash of light erupted, and Zenjike believes she saw a great, black addax (a horned animal of the Mwangi Expanse) appearing in a beam of pure moonlight. The apes were momentarily cowed, and in the chaos, Zenjike wriggled free of her bonds and managed to escape. Though the path was long and treacherous, she made her way successfully back to her people.
She told the village elders of her experience: they told her that a manifestation of Gozreh, or perhaps one of her ancestors, had saved her. In truth, it was a hybrid aspect of Erastil and Gozreh (although they are worshiped by different names among the Zanj people).
After this, Zenjike was unable to be content with the small world of hunting food. For anyone else, the experience might have convinced them to stay safely at home; for her, she found herself wandering further and further afield, staying out longer and longer in the bush. One day, she returned, but only to bid her family goodbye. She said that she must follow the hoofprints of the addax, and thus, she set out on a very long trip.
Prompted by dreams and by a vague drawing in her gut, Zenjike has made her way north, through a dozen countries, and finally come to the Worldwound itself. The people are strange to her, but the Worldwound strikes a familiar note in her heart: the land has been warped by the same fury that she saw in the faces of the dread apes. Zenjike believes that if she can help to destroy the Worldwound, perhaps the influence of Anghazan upon her own homeland will wane.
She is serious, dedicated, and intense-- countered by naivete about the customs and cultures of those from beyond the Mwangi. She has much to learn about battle and the non-Zanj people she has found herself among. But her aim is true and her heart is... for now... pure.
LG Paladin of Erastil, divine hunter, Stolen Fury/Champion ...I admit I'm kinda tempted to rebuild her as an archer ranger, it makes somewhat more sense for her backstory. But I'll see what you as GM say.
Paladin of Baha-who?
How about a Ranger? Get Favored Enemy (Outsider[evil]) and he's good to go.
Hmm, and lots of skill points... I've got an idea based on a sergeant in the crusader's army, he's kinda cynical and doesn't think much of all the noble Paladins coming to fight the demons, but once he's assigned to a particular person or group, he'll go through hell and high water to get them out safely. Kind of like Sgt. Jackrum from Monstrous Regiment if you happen to have read it.
Divine spells don't really fit the image I'm going for, so he'll be a trapper ranger. He could be a total skill monkey and still be good in melee. I'll also use the Infiltrator archetype, since the two stack.
The trickster path seems most appropriate for this character.
Kel the Guardsman
I made this character for another WotR game. He's currently built on 25 points, but I'll make the adjustments tomorrow.
The basic premise is that the character is a tiefling outcast working as a simple guardsman who became possessed by the spirit of a powerful celestial who'd been nearly broken by diabolists.
He's going to the worldwound to try to learn more about the entity possessing him and offer himself as a soldier in return for any help they can give.
The angel possessing him is very weak and has no real mechanical representation yet, but as he progresses, many of his themes and abilities will be having to do with the nature of his relationship with her.
Please let me know what you think of the concept.

Background: Curril's lived in the Worldwound area for his entire life, and has gotten the butt of many jokes from his human peers as he's grown up. He's always been teased for being so small, so being so frail-looking next to the many, many human crusaders that exemplify the country.
He didn't exactly take kindly to this, and just like many of the people of his land, he was involved in martial lessons from a young age.
There's always one day that stands out to Curril when he thinks about what made him join the Mendevians. He and a few friends were playing a silly childish game near the Wardstones when something sudden and curious happened - a red flash and rush of flesh flashed by, and two of the children were dead. It took them a few minutes to compose themselves, but a dretch lurked nearby and stared balefully at the remaining group, a snarl on its face as it prepared for its next strike.
Well, Curril was fortunately carrying a cold iron dagger, and shouting to the other kids to keep it occupied while he positioned himself for a strike, he hid. The dretch came out of its hidey-hole to attack the children again, but this time Curril and his friends were ready. A few quick strikes later, the creature was down and Curril and his friends were running like the wind.
As was his natural progression, he joined the Mendevian crusaders as a matter of course. He had come to be quite attached to this land, and he wondered what it would be like if the Worldwound simply wasn't there. He wanted to see that future, and to protect his people. His sword was pledged to them.
Go ahead and ask if you've got questions. I'm planning to give him one level of bard and go into Battle Herald. He can be the party face and the tank. I know his mount isnt statted up and he doesnt have all of his equipment, but that's more technical that shouldn't force the decision or anything.
Cuàn
I'd like to chime in as well.
Basic idea is for a Qlippoth Spawn Tiefling Cleric, not quite sure which deity yet as both Empyreal Lords Black Butterfly and Neshen look very fitting.
As far as traits go, both Child of the Crusade and Touched by Divinity would work.
Teka was born the second child of two crusaders against the Worldwound. Having met in Lastwall while both fighting the Orcish hordes they decided their work would be more beneficial if they moved to Mendev instead as Orcs paled in comparison to the demons that dwelt there. The fact that it would be more exciting also played a large role, as did the fact that the aunt of Teka's mother had already moved there years ago.
What they however did not expect was that not only would they foray into the Worldwound, it would also touch them and in a more profound way than many could imagine.
Shortly after their arrival in Kenabres Teka's mother got pregnant with her second child, which would be Teka. The pregnancy itself wasn't very remarkable, the slightly increased nausea and aching blamed on the stress of the journey there. The delivery on the other hand was dramatic. Mother was brought to her aunt, a priestess of Andoletta, who would aid in the delivery. None could have prepared for what happened. What originally looked like a breech birth turned even uglier when the baby emerged. While it's legs and lower body looked normal it slowly turned green the closer one got to the head, which in itself was the worst. It had no nose and it's head was covered with writhing tentacles instead of hair, tentacles that resisted the birth and tore at mother as the baby came out.
The aunt, Yela, whisked the newborn girl away as she already foresaw what would happen next. Teka's mother died of blood loss, despite the best effort of both her husband and Yela. Her father blamed the then still unnamed Teka for what happened and desired to kill the monstrosity that cost his wife her life. It was Yela who protected her, claiming the girl's innocence, instead pointing a finger to the polluting influence of the Worldwound. In his grief and anger he picked up his eldest child the day after the funeral and left Mendev to return to Lastwall, getting away from the corrupting influence of the Worldwound, the grave of his wife and his monstrous child.
In the years that followed Teka was raised by her great aunt, learning about the burden of her mother's death at a very young age, a burden she would learn to deal with. While originally blaming herself for her mother's death she eventually turned her hatred towards the demons of the Worldwound, a feeling only made stronger by the taint that was her heritage. While many who suffered her particular corruption turned their anger and hatred towards all mortals she instead had a clear target in the form of the demons that dwelt to the north.
Kosz Trumpeter
Throwing my hat into the crowded paladin ring. Of course, an all paladin party would be awesome.
Aasimar paladin of Alseta. That's right! The goddess of portals has deemed the inter-dimensional rift that is the Worldwound one portal too many! Not keeping a holy order of her own, She has called up one of her distant descendants to take up the charge and expunge this blight on her domain.
(I haven't seen the player's guide yet, so I will choose a campaign trait as soon as I can read it.)
The March Hare
Hey everyone, I'll have more thoughts up later, as well as a compiled list of interested parties so far. I did want to answer a couple of questions though.
Regarding the campaign traits: I have seen a fair bit of controversy on the boards regarding these, and I can understand why. Some folks feel like they are a bit 'forced' and don't want to have to tailor a character concept to fit such specific preconceptions. If you'd prefer not to use one, that's fine with me.
Someone raised the question of multiple character submissions. I'd prefer just one per customer, honestly, just so that everyone remains on a level playing field. If you've submitted more than one already, please let me know which one is your preferred concept for consideration.
In a party of 6, I am certainly not opposed to selecting more than one paladin. I don't think I want to go with a party composed entirely of paladins, though. (Although, I agree that could be a pretty fun way to approach this campaign)
The March Hare
I am interested.
I would like to play a self-hating, demon-blooded tiefling paladin. Would that be okay?
He considers his lineage a curse and feels that the only way to make up for his sin of being born a monster is to vanquish as much demonkind from the world as he is able.
Could see that as workable, if he wouldn't antagonize all his fellow paladins too much. ;)
For those wondering if their initial ideas are acceptable, I haven't really seen anything here that I would reject out of hand. If it's what you fancy, go ahead and write up your pitch.
ShadowyFox
I am really liking the looks of this. Thinking maybe something like a void elementalist wizard who is eager to study what has caused this truly strange Wound in the world. He's heard of it, but figures that studying it would be a good first foray into a big realm of study that would get him recognition and respect among his academic peers.
The March Hare
I've done my best to sort through the various posts, and I think I've got it all sorted out, so far. I'm only considering a concept finished if it has a named PC, race/class, and at least a partial background. If I've missed anything, feel free to call it to my attention.

My cleric will be called Teka Sardovir and is found here
I'll be using the Mendevian Priest archetype from Inner Sea magic. She is a worshiper of Neshen, a minor empyreal lord of penitence and repentance as Teka sees it as her duty to atone for her mother's death and make up for the loss of two crusaders (both her parents). I'll be going for the Holy Vindicator PrC as I think it further enhances that theme.
The partial background is both higher up in the thread and in the profile, which is far from done.
