I'll get it. Andanan said simply, producing the silver scale he carried. He touched it to his chest and a small pillar of magical, rolling clouds lifted him up, where he grabbed the backpack and levitated down once more harmlessly.

That is a good trick Andanan, It seems even in death this Teremde;ev protects those of the city. It seems my scale will offer protection to the elements of cold or electricity. If other scales have powers maybe its best we know what each can do for planning purposes.

HP 27/27; AC- 19, T- 17, FF- 17; CMD- 23; F+4, R+4, W+8; Per +11; Init +1 Oread Monk 3 (Sacred Mountain)

I agree, Abdul.

{HP 4/8 | AC12 FF10 T12 CMD12 | F+2 R+2 W+1 | Inish +2 SM-1 Per-1}

"My scale is able to consecrate the ground around us. A useful tool if we should encounter any of the undead, or an area desecrated by the demons."

Roll20 Maps

It looks like this extremely well made backpack belong to a scout of some kind, containing rations, arrows, caltrops, some basic supplies and three labeled potions.

Masterwork backpack
12 days trail rations
flint & steel
two set of caltrops
three flasks of oil
16 arrows
2 potions of cure light wounds
1 potion of lesser restoration

The far end of this small chamber (considering the huge rift as a wall), continues along the way you've been journeying. The path from out cotinues another 20 feet before it enlarges again and is closer to 10 wide for the distance.

Is Asura scouting ahead again, while the group remains/divying the treasure?

Female Aasimar (Idyllkin) Oracle 5 |

As Meria hands her the scale and the knowledge of it's magic washes over her she shivers a bit Terendelev was powerful indeed, she will be missed....

As Andanan basically floats to retrieve the backpack she nods. "My scale aparently allows you to change shape into another humanoid form and more easily decieve demons which could be especially useful."

As the others look through the pack she moves to the other end of the opening and begins scouting the tunnel ahead. Keeping an eye out for any threats as she moves along.

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Azim says a small prayer for the unfortunate one that lost this backpack.

Peace and Sarenrae be with you. I believe miss Anevia would like the arrows. If anyone else needs some they can be split. Mia and Meria should hold onto the potions so if one of us in the front falls they can be poured in our mouth. The rest can go to however wants to cary them.

Azim takes the arrows and goes back to Anevia.

Here you go miss. These should help. Now don't do too much, take care of your leg. I can alos mend any boken arrows that miss as long as we find them.

Roll20 Maps

The tunnel opens into a triangular shaped chamber, narrower at the far end where the tunnel continues onward. To your right another tunnel opens, generally at right angles to your direction of march.

Two large snakes are coiled in the center of the chamber. They seem aware that something is nearby, but are not in attack posture or oriented towards you at this time.

Female Human

Anevia squats down to talk to Mia.
"You've been acting awful brave and helpful for a child down here. And didn't I just hear that we found your adopted mother in the rubble back there. Its better to let the emotion out, you can trust us, we're friends." She then pauses and looks a little closer. "I think you're hiding something.... Care to tell me the truth?" Her look, while still open and welcoming is beginning to become a bit more stern.

Female Aasimar (Idyllkin) Oracle 5 |

Asura quietly backs out of the room keeping her eyes on the snakes and her bow at the ready. She will get back to the others and relay the information "There are some big snakes in the next room and the tunnel branches off again. I think they knew I was there but they didn't move to attack immediatly."

Perhaps it is best to attack from range and either scare them away or they will come at us. If they charge we can be ready for it. This seems the safest course of action. It is unfortunate I don't have my crossbow with me.

HP 27/27; AC- 19, T- 17, FF- 17; CMD- 23; F+4, R+4, W+8; Per +11; Init +1 Oread Monk 3 (Sacred Mountain)

We must keep moving. Lets go together and work with that course of action. Andanan urged, clutching one of the three enchanted pebbles in his hand.

{HP 4/8 | AC12 FF10 T12 CMD12 | F+2 R+2 W+1 | Inish +2 SM-1 Per-1}

"Abdul, please use mine for now. I have one of Andanan's stones and my spells to aid me." Meria offers him the weapon and bolts.

If you are sure. I would be honored to use it. Now lets go have a look. Send the dancing lights ahead a bit and when we see them we can give a volley.

Azim graciously excepts the weapon. Bowing slightly to Meria.

GM, i'm assuming this concerns Martha, so either the group ID'er her without mention or miss Anevia saw Mia and Martha together before.

Spoiler:

Mia looks casual as Anevia squats for a chat.
At the Mention of "adopted mother", a hint of anxiety comes over the little face. "Martha?..Wh..where?"
I've set Mia's deity, she gets powers from another source though, to Sarenrae. She's a good goddess of healing and aid after all.

She kneels down promptly, sliding into Anevia's arms.
Why is it, i lose any sort of mother in this city?
She'd weep more over Sandra, but some tears do show on her cheeks.
"She didn't deserve this. May Sarenrae help her."
"Your questions, i came to the city with my mother. But i lost her to a madman. I got into the city and ended up with Martha. My mother had an apothecary store, just like Martha did, i've learned how to tend to those in need."
I'm not lying, but the last bit i cannot tell. With this city's reputation of persecution and killing of witches i cannot yet trust everybody who says they are friends on such short notice. Maybe if situations were different, but not yet.
"Aside from that, nothing interesting otherwise."

Female Human

Mia:

"You poor thing. May Sarenrae watch over both you and her. I know my wife may follow Iomedae, but I've never heard anything bad about the Dwanflower. I can see you're trying to be brave, I'll stop prying"

Roll20 Maps

You can get within 60 feet of the snakes and still have LoS. The tunnel is 10ft wide and 40feet long before opening up into the larger chamber.

I'm assuming the marching order is currently:
Towards Snakes
Asura Baradesh
Abdul-Azim Meria
Mia Anevia
Horgus Aravashnial
Andanan
rear of party
from what's been described generally, though Andanan might be further up.
If these sounds generally right, please roll initiatve and submit first round combat actions.

| HP 34/34 | AC 22, T 13, FF 20 | Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 | CMB +8, CMD 20 | Perc +7 | Init +2

Yeah, up front is about right. First one in, last one out.

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Baradesh approached the large snakes cautiously, position himself so he was there easiest target...and could attack them if they tried to slip past him to go for one of the others. Unfortunately the movement would take up his time, thanks to the Dwarf's curse of short legs. If it was carrying the snakes, he'd be fine...

Still, he was twenty feet away from the scaly beasts. "If you're all wanting to drive them off, I'd be in favour of it."

Male Elf

While he is staying quiet, he's taken to muttering: "Snakes? snakes don't make sense, maybe demons disguised as snakes? No no no.... demon's don't tend to have the patience for that... Probably just normal snakes... need to work that into my theory..."

As the snake come into view Azim makes sure everone is ready and he fires at one of the reptiles.

Well if we were trying to warning shot accross the nose to scare them we are doing great :)

Out of the house at the moment. FOr the record i'd prefer the DM just rolled initiative in a block, works much better over PbP imho. Will post in a few hours.

Roll20 Maps

OK I'll do that in the future. Almost did it this time, but I didn't want people reshuffling in the formation order, with initiative knowledge if I had misinterpreted where everyone was.

Anevia turns to face back down the tunnel you've been traveling down and nocks an arrow in case anything comes up from behind. "Andanan, I can cover the back, if you want to help out in the front"

Asura's, Abdul-Azim's and Meria's volleys all go of the mark, arrows clattering on stone and the ray spraying off into the ceiling.

Andanan stepped to within twenty feet of one of the snakes and hurled his stone- joining the cavalcade of ranged failure.

Ranged Attack (Into Melee): 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 - 4 = 1

Didn't get a chance to post it before but when going into known conflict Andanan won't be rearguarding.

I could inbue a minor guiding force, but i'm sure it'll draw unwanted attention.

Cast message onto Thrush familiar.
Tjip, aid Andanan, try distracting the closest snake.

Unsure how this would be done mechanically though.
GM, would you make the to you suitable roll, if applicable.

The little bird starts flying, circling above Andanan and starts frantically chirping. (Distraction as aid Andanan on attacking)
The bird would be well out of reach of the snakes.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Baradesh hissed as the snake venom entered his system. This was not going to be a pleasant experience. He'd been bitten by a snake before and been sick for days. "On consideration," the Paladin muttered as he repositioned his shield, "I dinnae like snakes much either."

Roll20 Maps

The second snake slithers up and also strikes at Baradesh.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Dealing 1 point nonlethal damage, going to rule that that means no poison was delivered

Mia's thrush circles above Andanan's drawing the snakes attention briefly.
+1 to hit to all PCs for one round while the snake is distracted. After one round it realizes the bird is too high to be a target and is no longer distracted

Andanan's stone lands wide as well.

Round 2: Order:
Anevia
Baradesh
Snake 1
Horgus
Asura
Aravashnial
Mia
Snake 2
Meria
Abdul-Azim
Andanan

| HP 34/34 | AC 22, T 13, FF 20 | Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +5 | CMB +8, CMD 20 | Perc +7 | Init +2

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Baradrsh's stomach settled as his robust Dwarven physiology fought off the poison affecting him. He knew the poison had weakened him - he felt a chill deep within the bones - but he had hoped the venom would be reduced.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

The Paladin swung his axe, but the venom still affecting his stomach made the blow over extend. Baradesh wasn't sure it was good enough to his the brutally fast snakes, but his plan was partially working at the moment. They were focusing on him. Hopefully his armour would protect him better from here on in.

HP 27/27; AC- 19, T- 17, FF- 17; CMD- 23; F+4, R+4, W+8; Per +11; Init +1 Oread Monk 3 (Sacred Mountain)

Andanan moved around the beleagured Dwarf and flanked one of the snakes with him; slamming his fist into it mid-air as it leapt for Baradesh once more. The heavy blow sent the snake reeling and left it bleeding from a nasty gash Andanan's rocky arm had inflicted on it.

Flank Attack (Flank, Distraction): 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage (Bleed): 1d6 + 4 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (1) = 8

I'm assuming the hall is 10' wide so we can be 4 accross on the two. Will post Azim's action now so things don't get hled up if others post. Probably will be away most of the weekend.

Disappointed the snakes charged instead of running away. They must be defending something. Perhaps their home.

Azim drops the x-bow and takes a 5' step up drawing his blade he slashes at one of the snakes.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Baradesh scores a very solid hit on the snake, another similar one would easily finish it off you think.

The snake strikes back at Baradesh: attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10, biting futilely at the air in its pain.

Male Human

"That's the way to do it! Do it again!"

Female Aasimar (Idyllkin) Oracle 5 |

Roll20 Maps

Asura's shot streaks into the uninjured snake, lodging in its midsection and causing it a great deal of distress.

The snake lashes back out at Baradesh Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 , but misses. Abdul's slash misses the snake as it twists and coils.

Andanan's heavy fist connects solidly with one of the two snakes, squashing its head into a bleeding pulp, leaving it dead on the cavern's floor.

I think we only need an action from Meria, this round. I'm assuming Mia is doing nothing from your post.

Asura will aim her shot waiting to see if the snake survives the other's assualt. If so she will take a shot as well.
