Caasi makes it up the rope, back to the top of the cliff, with the infant fangbird tucked into his pack. Almost as soon as he is at the top, Sasha is eagerly claiming her new "pet."
"Ooo, who's the little cutie," she coos happily, "She is so adorable, look at all those little teeth."
"You guys are the best," says Sasha, grinning broadly.
"What should I call her," asks Sasha, "And we'll have to make sure she has plenty of food..."

"Oh, ruby, like a drop of blood... That's a good one."
"How about Omelet or din din... I'm hungry, lets get back to camp"
"Well then, what is problem, and what is your solution? in that order if you wouldn't mind."

"Oh, you're mean," says Sasha poutingly.
"I wanted to know if you thought maybe you could help me, and I thought that perhaps the solution to a problem of mine might be near at hand. Many years ago, I worked as a book-keeper, and when I found some irregularities in the money, I reported it. However, the ones I reported it to were the ones guilty. I was subsequently framed and forced to flee. Recently, I was apprehended and being taken back for trial. But some of the records of the financial dealings were on board a ship, and last I had heard, that ship just happened to have crashed off of Smuggler's Shiv."
I think we need to come up with something to eat. I say hastily and diplomatically. "Tempers can rise if not properly nourished."
"We have some preserved food from the ship, though Janrose spent time in the kitchen prepping Mama Ruby, I can cook her up. 'Though I would imagine that our new Mama-Fangbird wont bee too keen on eating her pet's next of kin."
I have biscuit mix and a create water spell...Let's not eat the bird. It's a pet. What ranger has no feeling for another's pet?

Actually that's mostly in the domain of Profession{cooking} but survival will probably work in this circumstance
"So, you think that the ship in question is somewhere on this island? interesting..., well, mayhaps we will search for it later, my good man, but currently we have other... focuses, that need attending to." I look over towards Aerys, "I myself will be willing to search with you when the time is right, but I'm afraid that now is not a good time to look, if you understand what I'm saying."
I turn towards Janrose upon overhearing him. "A ship on the island?"
Right does anyone have equipment for fishing. Oh, and even if we do eat the already killed fangbirds I wouldn't feed it to little Ruby. That would just be wrong.

Survival will help you cook to stay alive. Cooking just makes it palatable.
As the group once more gathers, and prepares camp, the sun moves towards the horizon.
Jask and Sasha both do what they can to assist with the camp site, but some of the others are far less helpful.
Food is prepared.
"I am assuming," says Jask, "That come morning we are moving further south? And this is not meant to be a permanent camp?"
That sounds like a plan good thinking
"Well I don't know about the rest of you but a permanent camp close to a cliff edge sounds lovely. A wonderful view don't you think?" I say in light sarcasm. "Ruby would at least find it to be a fine home I'm sure, despite the memories. Likewise Mama-Fangbird would probably feel the same. I know the one in my stomach agrees; it seems to have grown contently silent. Speaking of, how long until Ruby is grown and trained enough to be more than lunch meat?
"No offense to the cute little morsel" I add, turning to Sasha.
i suggest that we move camp every night unless we reach friendly village are something.
No one is going to eat the little orphan.
"I wouldn't call it an orphan, it has a mama. a camp full of mama's really. We have all become one with the mama we ate, and Sasha adopted the thing."
"I agree Malchi, though if we do come across a village we need to be extremely cautious while we check for friendlies. I don't want to find out the hard way that cannibals really do live on this island."
Well yes we would have to check for that...I suggest that if we do we investigate then...We need a watch. I suggest it be with this size a two hour watch starting with myself 8-9, Janrose 10-11, Caasi 12-1, Klania 2-3, Arinka 4-5, and by that some of us should be up.

The rest of the camp wakes far more slowly...
Perhaps it is the stress of the previous day making everyone tired. Nevertheless, eventually others start to awaken (we hope). Jask spends about thirty minutes in prayer and meditation. Sasha starts scrounging for food to feed her pet. The others seem more sluggish.
I prepare a meal then... poor gnome cooking with a lot of wishing bread. That is bread that you wished you'd had.
"Is that food?" I say sniffing the air.
Janrose appears bright and chipper as he gets up, smells the gnome's cooking and proceeds to offer some assistance if wanted.
"So... where are we going today? the lighthouse? as a group or are we sending a smaller scouting party?"
i would do the whole group but a few selected people walking a little bit ahead just in case if anything(or someone) decides they don't like us.
you mean have a few scouts up ahead making sure nobody causes trouble? Sounds good. Lighthouse sounds good. Lighthouse means builders, builders mean people, people mean civilization, civilization good, i think.
"Lighthouse means shipping traffic.. shipping traffic means boats.. boats mean rescue.. rescue means no more island with odd people who are beginning to smell. Yes... Lighthouse.
I volunteer to be apart of the scouting squad. Gives me a chance to clear my nasal passages up-wind of you fine people."
"Fine? Are you making fun of my height." I say accusingly.

I got a decent stealth (due to being small) nothing amazing.
I also got a decent perception (due to my familiar) a little better than my stealth.
I can play the scout if no one else can.

So i take it the scouting party is Caasi, Klania, and Janrose. Addition to that i would like my bird to fly about a hundred feet in the air and also looking for danger.
