Male Human Paladin 1

can no-one get higher than an eleven?

fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Male Human Paladin 1

apparently not. Oh well, what happens?

Female Half elf Rogue 1

Malchi, I have a bad feeling about almost everybody on this ship

Male Human Paladin 1

I'm having some serious doubts as to the validity of Paizo's dice roller.

The scene at the Captain's mess fades out,... and the adventure begins...

In darkness...

Klania:
You dream of waves and a hot searing sun. A serpent is wrapping itself around your leg... There is nausea and a sensation of dread. Something does not feel right.

Arinka:
You have this sensation of being trapped. The walls of a wooden coffin surround you and then you realize that you are not alone. A snake is coiled on your chest, making you feel sick. With clarity you realize that you are dreaming... You are unconscious

Janrose:
You are standing at the railing of the Jenivere, nauseous and sick. Very sick. Pain radiates through every part of your body, pain made all the more annoying by the fact that Ieana and the captain are standing nearby, laughing. She kisses him on the cheek. You realize that there are snakes all over the deck of the ship.

Caasi:
There is a tossing feeling on the edge of your consciousness. A dream of a huge snake swallowing you gives way to a growing feeling of warmth. You feel sick, but realize that you are not actually fully awake at the moment. You have been unconscious, but your mind is disoriented and unfocused...

Malchi:
You remember dreaming of a snake... but the memory fades and everything is dark, but there is a redness on the edge of the darkness, and a growing warmth. You feel sick to your stomach, and your limbs ache. There is the feeling of wetness on your feet, and you hear the lapping of waves... As you move slightly, the ground beneath your back, gives ever so slightly... Its a strange sensation until you realize that you are laying on sand. You smell... land... The redness in the darkness grows, brighter and brighter...

Suddenly there is a fierce pain in your foot!

Malchi opens his eyes.
Malchi takes 1 point of damage.

Female Half elf Rogue 1

can i attempt to wake up? or am i already up?

Klania Kerisash wrote:
can i attempt to wake up?

no...

M Gnome Animist 1

I get up quickly and try to see what bit me. am i awake because it bit me or because of my fort roll? Hmm... I wonder...oh well.

if i see a snake i plan on letting loose fire as that snake probably never experienced before...

Klania:
The snake slithers around your leg tighter and then slides into your clothes. Sickness washes over you and you feel your skin becoming like scales.

Arinka:
The snake on your chest moves against you and suddenly you are falling. A seven spired building, perhaps a palace, is below you... You know you are still dreaming...

Janrose:
The feeling of nausea increases, but the deck of the Jenivere fades, replaced by darkness and a feeling of lying on your back against a strange sort of bed. There is a tinge of scarlet on the edge of your senses,...

Caasi:
A sense of scarlet grows against the darkness of your vision, and a growing warmth. You hear a cry

Malchi:
Motivated by pain, you leap up. You are on a beach, the ocean gently crashing against the sand. Bodies lie scattered on the sand around him (Perception check?). The sun is cresting just over the horizon.

There are three creatures crawling across the sand, tan colored, looking a little like a lobster, but with a coiled, upraised tail similar to a scorpion... only finned. (Knowledge Nature?) One of these creatures is near to where your foot was, its large pincer clicking at the air. The ground seems to shift beneath your feet as a wave of nausea washes over you.

Initiative? And you are sickened...

Caasi opens his eyes and sees sky above him.

Initiative Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Sickened Condition Explained:
The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Male Human Paladin 1

Dm Wicht:
I wish to examine the bed, And may I make a will roll to ignore the nausea?

M Gnome Animist 1

very well...

first of all Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

second Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

I take it my familiar is on me. I also do no have Know nature so either way. I counted in i had the sickened codition to each of the above.

Female Half elf Rogue 1

uh . . this probably has the same answer but, can i try to get up now?

Klania Kerisash wrote:

still a no.

Malchi Shua wrote:

Malchi:
The various bodies are your fellow passengers from the Jenivere, plus one Garundi man whom you believe was a prisoner from the ship. There are footprints on the beach and marks as of the various bodies being dragged from the surf. You see various piles of equipment scattered around the beach haphazardly, just above the water line.

Your familiar is fluttering with agitation overhead. Nearby Caasi is beginning to stir. You are in your armor, which you were wearing on the ship.

Malchi has initiative.

M Gnome Animist 1

i step back and cast PRODUCE FLAME! this is a spell like ability as a fiery sort of gnome has...i proceed to chuck one at my enemy!

TouchAttack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 101d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

i would have used burning hands but i did know how close they were. Since my damage is a spell do i still take the minus two? to his hit i know he will and figured that in but i didn't for my damage

Klania:
Everything turns to darkness. There is a vague hint of scarlet on the forefront of your brain.

Arinka:
Your awareness grows. You are in darkness, but beginning to awaken. There is a hint of scarlet in the darkness.

Janrose:
The "bed" feels vaguely like sand. You smell salt air and land, and hear the squawking of sea-birds above the pounding of surf. Your feet feel wet, and your hand feels wet sand under it. Nearby you hear grunting and heavy breathing, as of somebody excited and doing something rather active.

Caasi:
You hear the sound of spell casting, followed by a sizzling sound. Nearby you see the gnome, Malchi, dodging away from a tan creature. The beast looks vaguely like a brown lobster, only with a finned scorpion like stinger.

You are on the beach, surrounded by your fellow passengers. There are also two more of the creatures coming up out of the water towards you and the other passengers. Nausea continues to grip you.

You can make an initiative check and a Perception check if you wish. Your character is sickened

Malchi:
Your blasts misses. Steam rises up from the wet sand where it hits.
The creature darts forward to strike at you with claw and sting.

Claw 1: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Claw 2: 1d20 ⇒ 19; damage: 1d2 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Sting: 1d20 ⇒ 14

You manage to leap nimbly out of the way of the stinger, but one of the claws strikes. The other two creatures are now moving up the beach towards the other passengers.

Janrose opens his eyes.
Malchi takes 1 point of damage

M Gnome Animist 1

so then whose turn is it? Caasi, right? I also take it then the fortitude was to see who woke up first. With that said those who are wondering when they are going to wake up can look. You know i probably should have tried reasoning with these creatures. I might have been able to succeed at that. I am more than willing to heal everyone after these creatures are dead.

Caasi needs to roll intiative, and he might act before Malchi, but Malchi will act before the creatures.

Male Human Paladin 1

Spoiler:
whew I nearly posted as leah, but I guess I'm going to stand up.

initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

I think I did that right... Sorry, never done this before xD

Caasi Jecir wrote:
initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Now its right. You need to make sure to close your format properly. Also, your initiative bonus is +4. So it should have read [ dice = initiative] 1d20+4 [ / dice ], only without the spaces. :)

Malchi acts,
then Caasi.

Don't feel that you have to necessarily wait your turn to post, incidentally, in the interest of moving things along, if you know what you want to do, go ahead and post and I'll work it out as necessary, so if Caasi has a plan of action, he can lay it out, even though its Malchi's turn.

Isaac: generally speaking, if you know you want to make an attack or perform some sort of skill related action, go ahead and make any necessary rolls. Your attack roll is a d20 modified by your attack skill. A skill roll is a d20 modified by your skill modifier. Consult the stats Caleb posted for you if in doubt.

M Gnome Animist 1

Malchi has one produce flame left (i have two balls for the spell though a lousy to hit and espicially in my sickened state)

Let's wish for a critical...

TouchAttack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 191d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

M Gnome Animist 1

I...i can't believe it natural 20! Can you critical with a fire spell?

if so here is my to confirm and the damage if i do.

Critical: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 191d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

M Gnome Animist 1

That is too weird...TWO TWENTIES IN A ROW!!! Autamatic CRITICAL. Already i am looking to be MVP!!! YES!!!

Male Human Paladin 1
Malchi Shua wrote:

no, I don't think so... but you confirmed with a Twenty? if you can go for the triple!!

You can critical with any spell that requires a to-hit roll on a d20.

Malchi and Caasi:
Flames leap from Malchi's hands and strike the strange crustacean in front of him. There is a sizzling sound and the tan shell of the creature turns bright red. It ceases from moving forward and collapses into the sand, its legs occasionally twitching.

There are two of the creatures left, moving towards the bodies on the sand.

Caasi realizes that he does not have his weapons on him. Casting about the beach with his eye, however, he sees a pile of gear that looks suspiciously like his, about ten feet away from him, and his weapons are there.

Caasi can act.

I want to rush for my weapons and shoot my seafood. What do I do?

attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 161d8 ⇒ 5

It will take Caasi one combat round (6 seconds) to reach his gear, and pick out his bow and arrows. He may thus attack on the next round. When attacking, you announce your intentions, target and any special abilities you are using and then make a "d20 roll." Said roll will be modifed by your skill with the weapon (+5 for both your weapons) as well as by your other abilities (+2 vs animals). There will sometimes be other adjustments based on range, feats, etc. but don't worry about them for the moment. Simply put, to hit one of the creatures in question is 1d20+7 for you. Your damage, if you hit, is 1d8.

Klania:
You hear the sound of running, though muted, and feel a cool breeze on your face. The sound of voices, waves, and sea gulls are all mingled together in a pleasant haze. There is a warmth on your face, as from the sun. A sudden sizzling sound fills the air. You think you are on the beach.

Arinka:

There is a warmth on your face, as from the sun. A sudden sizzling sound fills the air, and then a gentle smell of cooking lobster. You deduce, groggily that you are lying on a beach, on the sand, and that there is some sort of conflict going on near you.

Klania and Arinka open their eyes.

Janrose:
You stand up and take in the scenery. A little ways from you, Malchi, the gnome casts a spell, flames leap from his fingers towards a tan, lobster like creature with a finned, scorpion like tail. The creature turns bright red and collapses onto the sand. There are two more of the creatures coming up the beach towards various bodies lying scattered, on their backs, around the beach. You also see mounds of gear here and there,... And Caasi running towards one such pile to grab his bow. Perception and Initiative

Janrose, Malchi and Caasi:
Caasi runs and scoops up his bow, his fingers also finding arrows in his pile of gear. One of the remaining creatures moves towards the prone Ishirou. The other scuttles up towards Caasi, maneuvering around the pile to make an attack.

Claw Attack at Caasi: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Caasi easily avoids the oversized claw.

Round 3

Caasi can take a five foot step away from the creature attacking him if he wishes, to make a bow shot, using the numbers he's already rolled.

And Malchi can state his intended action.

Female Half elf Rogue 1

so what's my surroundings? is there fighting going on any were near me? do i have my equipment?

Klania:
You seem to be wearing your armor... You'll have to get up and look around to answer the rest. Feel free to roll perception.

Female Half elf Rogue 1

ok here goes,oh and i want to stand up
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

M Gnome Animist 1
DM Wicht wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Caasi can act.

DM:
I take it then my weapon is not on me as well. I also take it i cannot cast burning hands without hurting one of the bodies.

M Gnome Animist 1

I want to rush to my staff, seeing that I would also not be right above it. I also want to tell my thrush to attack. It's attack won't be effective but its attack isn't effective at all as well so i don't mind my raven to attack.

Thrush Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 11d2 - 5 ⇒ (1) - 5 = -4

M Gnome Animist 1

Right...it didn't hit. Hopefully though it will focus on the bird while the others get their act together

Malchi:
You do not seem armed. Your staff is in a pile nearby. You calculate that you might be able to move, cast burning hands and angle it so as not to hit Ishirou. You also notice that the various individuals lying around the beach are in three separate groupings, each one spaced slightly apart from the other, with the track marks on the sand for the various bodies all originating from three separate points along the beach.

I wish to take a step away, and instead use my shot on the one going after Ishirou.

In case this requires a new roll, attack & damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d8 ⇒ 6

Also, if it requires I state it, +2 against animals

We'll use the original roll.

Male Human Paladin 1

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Am I wearing my armor?

janrose:
Janrose sees that he is on the beach. He is wearing his armor, but is not armed.

Janrose can act...

Male Human Paladin 1

Quickly Janrose runs to the nearest pile to rummage through it

Female Half elf Rogue 1

so does my perception work?

Female Elf Arcanist 1

What's going on? A fight? Can I join?

Klania:
Standing up, fighting waves of nausea, you see that you are one a beach, just below a jungle tree-line. There are various people scattered around the beach, the passengers of the Jenivere, plus one Garundi man whom you recognize as a prisoner who had been held in the hold of the ship. His hands are manacled. There are footprints and drag marks on the beach, indicating that the various bodies were brought in three groups and dragged up to the beach and laid out. Gear is arranged in piles around the beach, your own about five feet to your right.

Nearby, you see Malchi running towards a pile of gear, a bright red dead creature nearby. Two more of the creatures are on the beach, those these are tan. They look a little like a lobster, if a lobster had a finned, scorpion like tail. One of the creatures is trying to pinch Caasi, who has his bow in his hands, taking aim at the other creature down the beach. That creature is approaching the prone Ishirou. Also on his feet is Janrose who is running towards a pile of gear, belonging to Ishirou. Initiative? Also you are sickened

Arinka:
There does seem to be a fight of some sort. As you take it all in, your stomach cramps up. Initiative? Knowledge (nature)? Also you are sickened

Malchi's thrush tries to distract the creature attacking Ishirou with a flyby attack but does little. However, despite his sickened state, Caasi manages to skewer the animal with an arrow. It is flipped over by the impact and twitches on the sand, dying.

Malchi reaches his pile of gear and grabs his staff.

Janrose runs to the nearest pile and realizes that it is Ishirou's gear. The katana on top of the pile being the clue.

The remaining animal moves forward, focused on Caasi.

Claw 1: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Claw 2: 1d20 ⇒ 19 Damage: 1d2 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Stinger: 1d20 ⇒ 8

One of the claws finds a grip, pinching somewhat painfully.
Caasi takes 1 point of non-lethal damage

Round 4

Malchi has taken 2 points of damage total.
Caasi has taken 1 point of non-lethal damage.
Two of the creatures are dead, one remains, attacking Caasi.
