I am going to swap to quarterstaff and swing...and if i don't post until next fight i will post my next action.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 31d4 ⇒ 4
Next Round: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 141d4 ⇒ 2
Male Human Paladin 1
I'm also attacking when it gets close.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
The creature wheels around, as Janrose and Malchi try vainly to hit it, and flies at Klania...
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
She ducks beneath the sharp fanged attack, and as it swoops up back into the air, a well placed arrow from Caasi pierces it and it smacks into a tree and falls to the ground.
"Oh my," says Sasha, "Those were the most adorable looking things... I wonder if they had any babies?"
Female Elf Arcanist 1
If they do and anyone of us wants one they are highly trainable.
"Really?" says Sasha,"I would love to have one."
"Ugh," says Gelik, "Nasty looking things they are, if I do say so myself. Likely a little one would cuddle right up to you and then eat you while you slept."
"Nobody asked you," says Sasha angrily.
M Gnome Animist 1
"i wonder what it feels like to be eaten in your sleep?" Malchi wonders aloud. "Well you can look for some if you want. My legs are tired anyway."
Male Human Paladin 1
Janrose looks at his gnome friend oddly, then recalls the few gnome students he knew at thistletop and shrugs his shoulders.
I remove my arrow from the thing to check if it is still useable (Is it?)
"Here you can have this one" I jest, tossing the dead creature to the ground at Sasha's feet, "It won't eat you in your sleep, I guarantee it."
That arrow is still useable. The others loosed are not.
"Not funny," says Sasha to Caasi, frustrated, and seemingly growing angry.
"Well, I'm not going to find you a pet," says Aerys, smiling cruelly, maybe you should head out and find it yourself. More food for us."
Female Elf Arcanist 1
Do I know where the fangbirds like to nest?
I will help you look if you want.
Female Elf Arcanist 1
And I don't think the trained ones will eat their master in their sleep.
Male Human Paladin 1
"Arinka, you know the most about these, things, is their flesh poisonous? or are they safe to eat?"
If they are safe to eat, I shall begin gutting one, after removing it from the sight of the others.

"Really," says Sasha, suddenly cheerful, her anger forgotten,"That would be great."
"I think I am going to be sick," says Aerys.
"Tell me about it," says Gelik, "Ugh."
"No, really sick," Aerys groans and she lurches over to a tree and proceeds to make good her words.
"Ugh," says Gelik, again, but with a completely different tone of disgust.
"Where should we look?" asks Sasha.
I sigh, barely holding the annoyance with the state of the retching Aerys from my face. "Malchi, I hate to use you like a water barrel but could you spell up some water in this flask?" I ask, pulling Aerys' flask from my bag. "She's going to need it when she's done."
Male Human Paladin 1
woah! don't give the alcoholic water! you'll just make it worse!
I give Janrose an odd look and continue to hold out the flask. "Where again does a Paladin abstaining from alcohol get his information on what to do when one is intoxicated? Don't you guys usually spell it away? The alcohol and the vomiting causes dehydration, as does hiking. Trust me, it will help. In fact, everyone should drink some water."
not that it effects the game much, except I wouldn't mind befriending a fellow half-elf
Male Human Paladin 1
I was trained as a healer mostly, back at the temple, we got a few sailors every now and again up at Sandpoint, first time I saw one pass out, well it was slightly disturbing. I could probably help her if it was to make her ill.
M Gnome Animist 1
The never ending water barrel provides water for us all!
M Gnome Animist 1
AS the professional healer i am going to comfort Aerys.
Prof.Medic: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
After Malchi tends to Aerys a bit, she does feel somewhat better, but its clear that she is not fully functional, and is getting quite drowsy.
"None of this is helping us find that nest," says Sasha somewhat impatiently.
"I can stay here and look after Aerys," interjects Ishirou, "I don't think she is up to egg hunting."
"As can I," says Jask.
Female Half elf Rogue 1
"so who all wants to go find eggs and who wants to stay behind, find things to eat and if need be set up camp." what time is it? are people looking tired? if mostly everbody is staying beind i'll go help search for eggs but if there isn't a lot of people staying i will
M Gnome Animist 1
"Well since Aerys is feeling better i can tag along. Besides his idea of bird pets sounds cool to me."
"I'll go" I reply. Making sure Aerys has possession of her flask once again. "I'm not in the mood to stay still; we may happen across something other than eggs, sounds fun to me. I also have experience handling animals. Might be useful if the eggs aren't eggs anymore."
Female Elf Arcanist 1
Their nest would most likely be on the cliff wall. As long as they are caught young they can be trained, though I will admit that I have no idea as to how to do this.
And Janrose, while their bit is poisonous, they should be safe to eat if we want to eat the ones we already killed.
Female Elf Arcanist 1
Kinda like poisonous snakes or so I would assume.
Male Human Paladin 1
"I'll gut the bodies I guess, maybe prepare stuff for smoking them while you all are away.I can also keep an eye on Aeyrs"
If you want to make a camp, a Survival skill check can aid in selecting a suitable spot.
Male Human Paladin 1
This would be a good time to make a camp, we were just ship-wrecked. and we have an intoxicated half-elf to tend to, so we'll make better time tomorrow.

"i'll stay then" sighs
survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
The camp is made, with the canvas used to keep off potential rain, and a fire pit for cooking. Aerys lays down upon a bedroll from her pack, and Ishirou sits and rests, his back against a tree.
Meanwhile, after about thirty minutes of searching along the cliff wall above the beach, the party looking for the nest spot it,... about twenty feet below the edge of the cliff, on a wide ledge. There is, in the nest, what appears to be a miniature version of one of the creatures that attacked... no doubt it is a child of the mated pair just killed.
"I can use my grappling hook to go down there and get it. As I said I have experience handling animals."
handle animal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

I will assume taking 10 for the descent.
Caasi makes it down the twenty feet, moving slowly and well aware that he is fifty or sixty feet above the rocks below and that a fall would be potentially lethal...
He pulls even with the nest and finds himself looking at the dark eyes of the bulbous headed reptile. It's about the size of a his two fists put together.
The creature snaps at him as Caasi reaches for it, but he manages to grab it with one hand, without getting bit, while hanging from the rope with the other... The small creature already has its fang like teeth, and Caasi recalls that they were supposed to be venomous... one wonders whether or not the young are more or less poisonous than the adults...
One also wonders what the plan is for climbing the rope with one hand while the other is holding onto a fanged, poisonous monstrosity which does not seem too pleased...
The Handle Animal roll was good enough to grab it without being attacked, but not good enough to truly pacify it.
"Hurry up!" Yells down Sasha. "I want to see it."
Male Human Paladin 1
just a thought, but if you aren't far from camp, holler and I can drag you up.
Janrose, Knight of Erastil wrote: just a thought, but if you aren't far from camp, holler and I can drag you up. They are far enough away that you are not close enough to just head over there and find them.
I just realized that in the spoiler above I said it was for Malchi when it should have been Janrose - so Caleb, go ahead and read it and Joshua, feel free to ignore it at the moment.
Female Half elf Rogue 1
i'll accept the invitation to join the conversation
Can I make another roll?
I'd like to put the thing in my bag so I can get back up without strangling the thing. If I didn't climb with my bag then could I yell up at Sasha and Malchi to find some way of lowering it down.
What is around me I can use? perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Is the ledge where the nest is big enough for me to at least stand on?
I realize now these would have been good questions to ask before I went over the edge
"I would suggest, since I don't think either of the two have rope, that one of you place a rock in my bag (emptied) and tie straps in a loose loop around my grapple rope so that it will fall straight to me." If I don't have my bag.
From here I'll climb up with one arm through the bag.
Female Elf Arcanist 1
I have ten feet of a scarf that is usable as rope. But I don't have any spells memorized that would be useful.
M Gnome Animist 1
I have a satchel that might work and my bird while weak can bring it up to you
I am out of most spells...however i can address the bird to behave if you'd like. I can talk to the bird spirit that resides in it but that won't mean it will listen...
Caasi Jecir wrote: Can I make another roll?

The nest, which is about five feet wide, is taking up most of the ledge, and is made of large sticks, and a few bones, held together mostly with what appears to be fecal matter.
Putting the creature in your pack is doable, but you will have to make a climb check to get back up that way.

so, I should read malchi as me in that post?
