In the snowy lands of Irrisen, the witch queen Baba Yaga likes to keep her eyes on all her children,
and she does so through her chicken-legged huts and their resident guardian dolls. Made in the image
of her famous Dancing Hut, these strange huts watch the borders of this frozen land,
keeping foreigners out while keeping the Irriseni in. According to the legends, If a hut dances around
and refuses to let you in through its tiny door, you must stand in front of it and loudly call out,

“Hut, O hut, turn your back to the woods and your front to me.”

Hello forum-goers! I am interested in starting a Reign of Winters Campaign. I have had this sitting in my folders since February and I think its time to start it. Im looking for around 4-5 players.

First things first:
CHARACTER CREATION RULES!

Allowed Races:
Any Core + Aasimar, Catfolk, Ifrit, Kitsune, Merfolk, Nagaji, Oread, Samsaran, Sylph, Tengu, Tiefling, Undine, Vishkanya

Allowed Classes:
NO Gunslingers or Summoners

Witches are allowed, but Slumber Hex is not allowed.

All alignments are allowed, with proper explanation.

Be creative! I don't just look for good party composition when choosing players, I look for characters that are fun and creative. And I LOVELOVELOVE party dynamics.

Build Guidelines:
Paizo material only – no 3rd party
25point buy
Level 1
HP: roll or PFS-style. Choose at character creation. Max Starting HP.
3 Traits
Average starting gold

About your GM:

This is the first time I have GM'ed a PBP, so bear with me as I get used to the venue change. :) I love good role-play and encourage it greatly. I'm more of a laid back GM, but I have a bit of rules-lawyer in me. PM me with any questions or just leave em below! I am in the EST timezone, just FYI.

Sounds like fun. Do you want us to create an alias for the submission? Do you have anything against first pbp players?

If no to the later I will have something up soon. How long do we have until submission closes?

Sczarni

@TheCelticCircle: I would appreciate an alias, its easier to check them that way. I have nothing against first pbp players, considering this is my first time GMming a pbp. And I will more than likely keep submissions open until Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

I made this character for another Reign of Winter game, but was not selected. I'll edit him to fit into the guidelines (get rid of slumber hex and I think switch from 20 point-buy to 25).

Sczarni

Alright. Awesome!

k, edited Martin. Hope I got everything corrected properly (did it kinda quickly). Except, need to add a third trait.

Sczarni

@Martin: I like it! Nice back story and I like his personality. :)

@Katsune: Thank you! And found a pretty decent third trait to make up for the charisma dump. Allows some diplomacy and bluffing with INT.

Will post Human (Kellid) Ranger (Guide Archetype) tonight, trait Witchcraft Warded.

Sczarni

@Martian: Very nice!

Sczarni

@Bob: Alright. :) Looking forward to it.

Dotting for interest. Do you like traditional characters or the more eccentric and oddball ones.

Here's the gist. (Devastation Bob)

Thinking about a Oracle with the Winter mystery and the Tongues curse.

Where can we get traits, anywhere (assuming we qualify that is)?

Dotting for interest - I'm also new to PbP!

Just a couple of questions

- how often will you want players to post?

- when do you want characters submitted by? I might not be able to do this until Saturday

I would be interested in playing a Human Cavalier/Fighter with the Dragoon Archetype. By the name of Terrance Cavendish. Will details post soon.

Also, do you consider Witch to be more support, or arcane?

I'll be posting with a Kensai Magus, I think. Never played in a Reign of Winter campaign, so it should be fun to play. Probably going to go human as well.

My question also, since I like posting several times a day.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32

Dotting for interest. I've something in mind... But first a few tricky questions: how do you feel about arcane blasters? How about Words of Power? (usually GMs do a double take a this point!).

If you are still with me, how about an often irreverent and mildly sarcastic fire blaster wordcaller adventuring in the lands of eternal ice? ;)

I've been trying to get an arctic Druid with a giant weasel companion into RoW for a while. I'll put her up when I'm at my computer later. In the meantime, have a dot.

Would you consider a sorcerer using the Words of Power system?

I know in the guidelines you've said no 3rd party, but this particular archetype inspired me for the magus - Cabalist - which I'd also want to combine with the Bladebound archetype.

Basically, it would be a magus who instead of having a wizard's spellbook, casts spells spontaneously like a sorcerer (And much later gains bloodline powers) and learns them as if a bard. If you don't think this is balanced, though, I'm fine with just writing up a regular bladebound magus.

Sczarni

@Walter das Sombras and Wandering Wastrel: I perfer at least 2 posts a day minimum. After that, its up to you guys.

@Azten: Because Im not very familiar with Words of Power, Id have to say no. Sorry.

@Azrael Dukshi: Im sorry, its a really cool build, but no 3rd party publishers.

@Mezegis: I think they are the best debuffs in the game in my opinion, so basically support is how I go, but its how you build them that matters. They can be either.

@Thanos Maximo: I love the concept, but again, Im know next to nothing about words of power... Since two people have brought it up, Ill look into it. Blaster sorcerers, on the other hand, go at it. :-D

Sczarni

@Septa: Any of the paizo material. Id prefer if one of your traits were a campaign trait, but it doesnt have to be.

Sczarni

@ All: Characters should be in by Tuesday night, so you have the weekend and then some. :)

Sczarni

@Dron Farwalker: You have 3 attribute points too many on your sheet. Might want to check that out again. :)

That's fair enough, just thought I'd ask. Should have an alias made in a few hours.

Sczarni

@Azrael Dukshi: Look forward to it. :)

Sczarni

Adding Sulis and Vanaras to the acceptable races.

After thinking about it, I will go with a Savage Skald (if that's okay).

So, about posts/day, is it 2/day for weekends too?

Sczarni

@TheCelticCircle: Weekends are post when you can. I understand how crazy weekends can get, planning a wedding and all ;).

Nice I was afraid I would need to drop. Yeah, I know the feeling of wedding craziness!

Sczarni

@TheCelticCirle: Haha yeah. But weekends are weekends, and I dont want people to do this as a job, I want y'all to have fun. :)

Shadow Lodge

Dotting, may I reiterate...Katsune, you are an evil, evil woman. I like it.

Sczarni

<3 You know it.

"Oi, what's this 'bout some trouble in yer woods? Monsters killin' yer peasants? I'll fix 'em quick and dead if ya 'ave the coin ta pay for tha work." Before you is a tanned, sturdy dwarf. His hair and beard bristling and dyed in the most unlikely orange. His Mohawk-hair leaves a tattooed scalp exposed and his teeth are clenched around an unlit Qadiran cigar. "Ya, you 'eard me. You got troubles. I promise they'll stop, or I'll die fixin' yer woes."

Here is Carl Ironeater, maybe a bit mercenary, but he has his reasons. Life is short, especially when you are after the biggest baddest monsters in the world...

Sczarni

@Carl: Looks good, but you may have shorted yourself a trait. You get three. :)

So far I have:

Martin Stribog- Winter Witch
Dron Farwalker Ranger (Guide) 1
Carl Ironeater Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Sczarni

@carl World? Why limit it? Why not worlds? ;)

And I just realized Hexcrafter and Staff Magus can be applied as archetypes together. I'm thinking the daughter of a witch, one who fled the north and raised her daughter in Varisia, (Northern Ancestry trait), but then one day a few years ago mysteriously vanished from her life. Now she's come traveling to Irrisen to find out what happened to her mother.

With a Harrumph the dwarf pulls his cigar out of his mouth and says, "I s'pose yer right. Worlds if ya like. There may not be any on this one what can kill me!" He smirks as he plugs his cigar back 'tween his teeth.

Veteran of Battle: +1 Init and free weapon draw if acting in surprise round :)

Sczarni

@Carl: Sounds like a plan!

The lady passing Carl just smiles and glides on by. If he looks back, she is no longer there.

Will now be posting as my GM Alias for this game Whispers Through Snow.

You are free to Roleplay your characters in the discussion, if you wish.

Whack-a-Rogue here submitting a Dual-Cursed Winter Oracle. He's a halfway decent buffer and a good backup melee fighter. Entering the discussion thread now...

Mezegis wrote:

I love oddball and eccentric characters but either is fine. I like it when they have some substance to them, some personality. :)

Ah there are campaign traits, will get on it. Thanks!!!

I would like to submit Himiko for consideration. She is a Kitsune Sorcerer with the Fey bloodline. I'm extremely excited about the possibility of playing her because not all GMs seem excited by the prospect of non-Core races. In interest of full disclosure, I'm relatively new to Pathfinder. If I've made any mistakes, please let me know. :-)

@Himiko Ojimi: Awesome! You've been added. I don't really care if new or old. As long as the will to play is there. I dont see any mistakes, so you're good!

I now have:

Martin Stribog- Winter Witch
Dron Farwalker Ranger (Guide)
Carl Ironeater Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager)
Nev Morvinus Dual-Cursed Winter Oracle
Himiko Ojimi Sorcerer (Fey)
