I'm fine with that. I just tentatively arranged y'all by the door. So, whoever posts first can go in first.

Javell DeLeon |

I feel like the Smite was overkill.
You know, I would agree with this. Now - and I'm going with the assumption that I'm able to use Smite as Snowheart hasn't confirmed yet - personally, I didn't want to use it. Because it does seem a waste.
BUT, then I thought: If I miss and then Raven or Timo move in and miss or we don't do enough damage then the repercussions of that would just be nasty. Because once she lets out a scream, we're in a heap of trouble.
So I had to think what Morthos would do in this situation. Basically what I just wrote above is what I figured would be going through his mind. With his plan to take down the king failing so miserably, he is now a bit more... I don't know what word it is I'm looking for. Something to the effect of "Wants to make sure it gets done right no matter what it takes even if it's a bit extreme" type thing. "Cautious" maybe? Is that it? I don't know. I'm sure there's a word for that but I can't think of it right now.
Anyway, just wanted to clarify why Morthos went all out. While he possesses a calm demeanor in practically every situation, deep down inside: "failure is not an option". At least, not any more. :)

Asturu Renaro |

You're right. Better safe than sorry. Other than that, it is totally in line with the bloodthirsty bastard that Morthos is =P
And, of course, it is *your* character and you're the one who gets to play him.

GM Snowheart |

A case of strep throat has been tearing through my house (first my toddler, then husband) and now me. Will try to keep up but just to explain why things may be slowing down this week.

Daidalos Icarum |

I already rolled to attack with Acid Splash- should I roll again?

Daidalos Icarum |

Morthos: king of the overkill.
It's going to be funny seeing how Morthos and Daidalos bounce off eachother in the future, considering Daidalos is overcautious and unwilling to overcommit almost to a fault.

Lol!
Funny enough, the first thing that came to my mind when I rolled so good was, "Well there's a waste of a hero point." :P
But having said that... I think I'm finding his niche. ;P

GM Snowheart |

Hey all. I had an emergency project on Friday which is why there was no post then and it has come back today, likely through tomorrow. I’ll try to keep things moving as best I’m able but right now work is kicking me in the nads.

Timo Zoci |

I'm finally back from my vacation. Going to work my way through the gameplay thread now

GM Snowheart |

My mother in law is in town for Mothers' Day and is staying with us, so I may not be able to post this weekend. I will try, though.

Javell DeLeon |

For the record, I'm totally in the "I hate swarms" group. :P
They have got to be the MOST annoying things ever. It's automatic damage. Typically you can't even damage them with weapons. Fortunately for us they are big enough to at least take some damage even though it's only half.

GM Snowheart |

Huh. I love swarms. Must be the automatic damage and damage reduction. ;-)
(No, I understand. Anyone have fireball or burning hands?)

Daidalos Icarum |

Not Burning Hands (I knew I should have scribed a scroll of it. Ah well, lesson learned.), but I do have Cone of Cold, which is even better. The only thing is, given how insanely overcautious Daidalos is when it comes to using resources, I'm not sure whether I should actually use it (he prepared it in preparation for taking down a group of guards, and I'm not sure if he would see a mere unkindness of ravens to be worthy of the spell. Doubly so since he would be forced to also attack his allies. You know what? I think I know what I'm going to do now.

Javell DeLeon |

Lol!
Yeah that's pretty much the only type spell that takes out a swarm. An AoE spell.
It's amazing how something that is so... 'nothing' can be so difficult to fight. Pretty crazy.

Timo Zoci |

Yeah ... I never knew how evil swarms were until I ran a Age of Worms campaign. First encounter, swarm of beetles.

Affyria Strex |

Oh god, I remember that encounter. We barely managed to limp back to town after that.

GM Snowheart |

Hi everyone. I wanted to touch base on my absence this past week. This isn't an end of campaign post, but I do want to explain whats going on.
Lately my life has been getting very busy. I started a new job last year April and, starting this year, I've been getting progressively more responsibility. Since a lot of my posting was happening during downtime at work, it's slowed down lately because that downtime has become ever more rare and fleeting. Then, when I get home, it's time to take care of my son, fix dinner, visit with the hubby, and get to bed.
I'm coming to the conclusion that this is my new normal and I'm just not going to have as much free time during the day. This was a particularly rough week as I was sick on Monday and had a project start yesterday that consumed all of Tuesday and Wednesday, but I realize the slow posts have not been limited to just this week and wanted to give you a more full explanation of what's going on in my life.
That said, assuming you agree, I'd like to try to keep this campaign going. I'm willing to try to continue to that on my own, or to hand the reigns off to someone else who has more time. I'm completely open to either approach.
Peace,
Snow

Timo Zoci |

I'd like to keep it going. I think we have a good group of people here. If we have to run at a slower pace to keep it together I'm ok with that.

Daidalos Icarum |

It’s fine by me too. I’ve been noticing that I’ve just had less and less time to spend on the boards as time progresses, so a slower pace is almost better for me as well. Best of luck with your new job, Snow. I’m more than happy to keep playing as long as the game goes.

Asturu Renaro |

In the end, it is up to you to decide whether you're still getting any fun out of this. If the answer to that question is 'yes, I am', I am most down with going on and we will see how things work out! :)
I don't like the idea of putting any extra stress on your shoulders.

Affyria Strex |

I want to keep going too, I've been having a lot of fun with this campaign and this character. I am fine with a slower pace.

GM Snowheart |

All, I'm very sorry. We had to say goodbye to our dog last Wednesday. We've had him longer than we've been married and in many ways he was our first child. It hit me really hard. That said, short of a bus hitting one of us, I have trouble seeing how much more could fall on me at this point so posting should be back to normal now.

Javell DeLeon |

Really sorry about the loss of your dog, Snowheart. It's fascinating how animals become like family to us.
On a gaming note, will get something up for Morthos tomorrow. Been a long work week and it's just so dang late here, I got to call it a night.

Daidalos Icarum |

Happy one year everyone!

Daidalos Icarum |

Nothing too drastically different concept-wise. I've tried three different times to make a Binder character, and, darn it, I want one of them to work! But maybe a few differences...

Timo Zoci |

Is it too late to tactically retreat?

Daidalos Icarum |

If we retreat now, all that’s going to happen is the entire watchtower goes on alert and we get to fight everyone at once. Plus, I doubt we’ll ever be completely ready for a level 7+ wizard (Ices Storm being a level 4 spell).
I think our best bet at the moment is to whip up a couple replacement characters. I’ve got one about 2/3rds done.

Daidalos Icarum |

I mean, wasn’t it your plan all along that Raven would die next level anyway? ;P

GM Snowheart |

WOW LOL. I get swamped at work and all hell breaks loose. Too funny.
I'll have to read through this on the subway ride home. But, I saw something about hero points. You can use a Hero Point to re-roll a roll, give yourself a +4 after you've rolled, a +8 before you roll... And, in this case -- and only this case -- I'll let a person receive 1 hero point from the rest of the party if someone is willing to give it. Normally they are NOT transferrable, but you're in a weird spot between 4th and 5th level here, so I'm going to let you pull out a few extra stops here.

Daidalos Icarum |

When the wizard has 9 WIS, this is sort of inevitable ;)
That said, my backup has 8 WIS, so.....
Raven, I’d be willing to contribute a point if you think it might help.

F. Castor |

Well, Raven does have 2 Villain Points (yes, I know, but I refuse to call them Hero Points... :-P) remaining, which I believe can be used to save him from death if I remember their uses correctly, though it takes using up both at the same time. And since he is in a somewhat deep pit at the moment, I am not sure what being gifted a Point would achieve. I do appreciate the offer though.
As I said, no worries. :-)

Daidalos Icarum |

GM, you okay? I hope nothing bad happened again.

GM Snowheart |

Yeah, all fine, that just turned into a lot of work. Couldn't do it on my phone and time at home was eaten up with festivities for the 4th. Sorry for the delay.

Daidalos Icarum |

No problem. I keep forgetting it was the 4th, which is weird, because it's not like I don't celebrate it...

Javell DeLeon |

Is it too late to tactically retreat?
Man I'm starting to think this is a good idea. Maybe change appearances or something. We are in a pickle, folks.
This thing has DR/Adamantine. That's at LEAST 5 DR. Which means after 2 hits Morthos did a whopping 4 damage. Totally beating a dead horse on this one. :P
