M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

On his turn (4), Hoga will open the door and look in with his darkvision.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

If the coast is clear:

Let's hide these two and get the live one bound up, and have a look around.

If not, he'll have to react when he sees something.

Looking down, Hoga sees a set of stone steps leading into the cellar. The floor below appears to be just packed earth and you can make out some casks off to the side. There doesn't appear to be anyone down there, though you cannot see the whole cellar from where you are standing.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Very well. Hoga will try to pick up the sleeping guard and take him down the stairs without waking him.

Down here, he whispers. There's no one down there. It's dark, though. Let's bind and gag this guy before he makes a racket.

Deron quickly grabs the dead guard and drags him inside as quietly as possible. With his blade drawn he descends the stairs.

Stealth (-2 acp): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Lunthawg will follow Deron and use the Slumber hex on any guards that he sees if possible.

Will Save DC 15.

Daniel follows behind, picking up any loose ends and trying to cover up the blood with anything that's handy.

"Is the other one still alive?"

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Yeah, he's just napping. Let's fix him so he'll stay still and quiet when he wakes up.

Sleight of Hand to bind and gag: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

I suppose this takes a round or 3.

You all descend the stone stairs into the cellar and soon you feel the cold and damp from the packed earth floor through your shoes. The walls are also damp with moisture, this close to the sea you would imagine it hard to keep any underground room completely dry. Stacked up on stands are several casks of ale marked with dwarven symbols off to the right of you along the wall. Straight ahead of you, placed against the wall are three wine racks. One holds wines labeled as a Chelaxian vintage, another holds wines labeled in elven script and the third is empty.

Off to the left of you is a round table with six chairs, all of which are currently empty. Scattered about upon the table are playing cards, two mostly empty bottles of wine, a lit lantern, a couple of bowls with something identifiable in the bottoms of them and six cups. Left and then forward of you is a set of stone stairs leading up. The doorway to it has no door.

Thanks for rolling for me (and really well, too!) while I was away, DM.

Patch regarded the empty table with obvious misgivings. "Uh oh. I hope we aren't too late to keep them from 'breaking in' the slaves," he whispered. He paused by the doorway, straining to hear any noise from above.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

He motioned for the others to be ready for a quick surprise assault, drawing his cutlass and adjusting his disguise.

Patch -
From above you hear female voices crying and though you cannot make out the words, you also hear some male voices speaking in a taunting manner. As you are listening, you hear footsteps and voices coming closer to the top of the stairs.

male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1

Patch snapped his fingers to get everyone's attention, pointing at the stairs to indicate the imminent arrival of the guards. He plastered himself against one of the walls to remain hidden from sight from the stairs, motioning for the others to do the same. He listened as the footsteps approached, trying to discern how many there were.

Ready a sneak attack on whoever comes down the stairs. Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7. Att: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19, dmg:1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5+1d6 ⇒ 6. If there's enough time, he'll cast Shield first (quietly!).

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Hoga will draw his falchion and try to get hidden on the other side of the stairs, trying to get a flank with Patch on whoever comes down first.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

If that's not possible, he'll still try to hide somewhere close by, and attack asap, hopefully in a surprise round.

You know what's wrong with this game? It has dice in it. XD

Should we roll initiative again or just keep the last initiative?

Lunthawg will prepare to use the Slumber hex on anyone that comes down from above. As it is non-violent, he'll attempt to find a way to see up the stairs as best he can and use it on anyone that he can see.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Daniel moves into the shadows. Seeing Patch and Hoga ready for violence he prepares to do the same.

Stealth -1

Ready action to shoot second guard through the door
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d10 ⇒ 5

Hoga's right, dice suck.

You may keep your initiative from earlier. You will also get a surprise round action. Patch, you will have time to cast shield first if you so wish. The stairs are five feet wide and you can stand flat against the wall to either side of the stairs to hide. If you have not done so already, you may roll any attacks you wish to do in the surprise round and you may announce first round actions.

Surprise Round

Deron begins moving up to the guards as they come down the stairs. Then Lunthawg begins casting and the first guard falls down sound asleep. Daniel misses with his crossbow, but Hoga cuts the other guard down in one blow and Patch land a solid hit to the one that comes down next. You can see three more men on their way down the stairs.

Init: 7, hps: 16, AC: 16 (Shield)

If the one Patch hit isn't down (he's flanked with Hoga, right?), Patch will sneak attack again.

Att: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 + 1d6 ⇒ 4

If he IS down, Patch will just stay out of the way so Hoga or Deron can engage the ones on the stairs. (This is assuming the guards don't come down to where everyone can attack them, in which case Patch will attack instead.) Is it possible to coup de grace the sleeping guard without getting in the fighters' way? Where are the light sources in the room?

This way, lads! Hoga taunts, The party's downstairs! It's true. We are downstairs!

On his turn, Hoga will back up a bit to allow everyone a shot/swing at any more guards who might come through, and attack the first one who closes with him.

Deron takes out another of the guards as Patch finished off his and Lunthawg send another falling to the floor deep in slumber. With two guards asleep and 3 now dead, the remaining pirate chooses not to come down the stairs. Instead, he turns and runs tail back up the stairs. He was the one in the back and had one of the lanterns.

Initiatve: 18, AC: 14, HP: 14/14

Round 1

Lunthawg will attempt to chase after the fleeing pirate and use Slumber on him as well. If it is successful, or if the guard gets out of sight, he'll move to collect a lantern.

Guards will save: 1d20 ⇒ 5

The remaining guard falls asleep at the top of the stairs, falling into the hallway he had been about to turn into when the spell took hold.

male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1

Patch quickly rifled through the guards' belongings, looking for keys or anything else interesting. "We may as well douse the lights," he said to the others in a low voice. "Unless you need light to see?" he added to Daniel.

Once he's done, he'll investigate the hallway.

Daniel shakes is head at Patch. "I can see in the dark, no need to keep the lights on for me. I do worry if we attempt to approach the girl in the dark she will become too scared to follow us. Perhaps we should keep some light source with us just in case."

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Daniel's right. If we're going to get her, or anyone else out of here, they'll need to see.

Hoga will try to see what he can see here.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

From above still comes the occasional whimper as the girls above are clearly oblivious to fate of their captors.

Searching the guards, you find a cutlass upon each (all ordinary quality), several daggers, two lanterns and one key ring.

As you are searching, you hear the rumbling of stormclouds from outside as it begins to rain.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Let's find the girl!

Hoga will try to find where the whimpering girls are at. he thinks for a second, then says, Maybe you should be the first one they see, Daniel. Human girls seem to like the toothless look better.

male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1

Patch tried the keyring keys in the first locked door they came to. If there are girls inside: Peeking in, he raised a finger to his lips, doing a quick scan for the girl they were looking for. "If you're quiet, girls, you can get out of here with us."

If the Wintrish girl is in here, Patch will ask for her by name and tell her that her father sent them to rescue her.

It is quite easy to follow the sounds of whimpers and whispers to locked door that has a small, barred window in it. Peering in, you see several females in shackles.

The Wintrish girl is here and begins to cry in relief, Oh thank you, thank you. You have no idea how horrible it has been. Of course her crying sets off all the others again.

Anyone who has looked at the locket that your group found on the wrecked ship finds that one of the other girls look familiar.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Patch! Tell them to be quiet or we'll all be crying! Let's get that door open and go.

Deron quietly stands near the door and keeps watch for more guards coming.

Daniel attempts to calm the girls.

"Shh now, all is ok. We have come to save you, but we must be quite. We will not hurt you. Come with us, quietly now."

Diplomacy +10
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

male undine swashbuckler rogue/aquatic sorceror 1/1

Patch quickly opens the girls' shackles with his keys, urging them to silence again. He pauses by the familiar-looking girl as they make their way out. "Who might you be, lass?" he whispered.

If they make it out to the street, Patch will cast Obscuring Mist if necessary to cover their escape.

Lunthawg will hold up the lantern he has collected as the conversation continues.

So...can I burn this place now? I mean...to cover our tracks and everything.

@Patch - Luciana Montaevia sir. Whispers the girl back while sniffling.

Which door is your group using to go out of? The cellar door, the back door or the front door?

As you have been rescuing the girls, the rumbles and rain you hear earlier have grown into what sounds like a torrential downpour outside. You can feel damp drafts blowing through the warehouse and notice the occasional drip of water falling from the ceiling. Quite obviously they didn't waste too much time ensuring that this warehouse was completely weatherproof.

The girls seem to be listening to Daniel as they have once again quieted and will follow him out of their cell. Only the occasional sniffle is all you hear from them as they wait for you to take them to safety.

1 more vote for out the way we came in - but perhaps someone good at sneaking could go out first and make sure we aren't going to be welcomed by a gang of pirates?

Hoga will do it. Armor-free for extra sneakiness!

There are a pair of guards walking past just as Hoga peers outside, but they do not seem to notice him. Possibly due to having their hoods pulled up to ward off the heavy rain.

M Half Orc Bloodrager 6 / Init +3; Perc +10 / AC 22(26), 11, 20 / hp 31/(76) / F+9, R+5, W+7

Daniel will lead the women down the stairs as quickly and quietly as they can manage.

"Follow us now, we are making good on our escape. As you can see these guards are no longer going to stop us."
